Preorders for the Rift go live at 8 AM on January 6th. With still no price announcement, and an inevitable inability of the website to facilitate the traffic. Are you going to preorder with the option to cancel? Waiting for more info? Fuck the VR memes?

VR is dead. Facebook buying the oculus rift just killed all the hype
No, I hate VR. My uncle is really into it and has devkits and gear vr and made my whole family try them this holiday but it was nauseauting and dissapointing and also pointless and uncomfortable. I also had to keep turning around 180 degrees which is aggravating after a long day when i just want to look forward. Cant wait until this meme dissapears desu
Are they going to announce price when they make it available for preorder?
>>52230961
preorder ships with free Eve: Valkyrie
>>52231039
It's about time they do that if they really plan to release it in Q1 2016.
>>52231039
Yes.

>preorders open
>more than $600
>hype dies faster than it rises
wait for apps, games and software
then buy the hardware
by that time they will be cheaper, widely available, and competitively specced
Fuck this, i'm waiting for valves VR, not fagbook.
>>52230935
>oculus
>VR in general
Why /g/ should buy a meme toy that exist because someone watched sword art online?
>For a PC to be certified as Oculus Ready, desktops will need a GTX 970 graphics card or above, while for notebooks the baseline starts at a GTX 980. Additionally, you'll need two USB 3.0 ports, 8 GB of memory or more, an Intel core i5-4590 or better CPU, HDMI 1.3, Windows 7 SP1 or above, and the latest driver with VR support. Naturally, you'll also need a head-mounted display.
>>52230935
>Windows only
yeah... no thx
>>52231770
so my 2500K is no good :(
I will let other people beta test this for me before I plunge in, buy it, and then let it collect dust 2 months later.
>>52231797
what is your firestrike score? anything > 9k will work just fine. And remember you can always just lower the graphics settings.
>>52231770 is the recommended requirements, not the minimum.
>inb4 $500+ pricetag when they kept hyping it up saying it would cost as much as the dev kit or less
>giving facebook money
Wouldn't do it even if I really wanted a rift.
>>52231571
>SAO
Shit taste at least say .Hack
>>52231797
Trust me the 2500k will be fine. This 'VR ready' shit is just a normie friendly specification.
For running high-demand things.

facebook already makes so much money it doesn't matter. Why not buy things from facebook that you approve of rather than having them rely on selling their user's data to advertisers?

>facebook already makes so much money it doesn't matter. Why not buy things from facebook that you approve of rather than having them rely on selling their user's data to advertisers?
Yeah just give them more money for something they're no doubt incorporating into their datamining. Great attitude.

what does /g/ think of OSVR? I just found out about it, inb4 razer

the only one worth really looking at is
http://www.starvr.com/#techspecs
I want one, but I'm gonna wait to borrow my buddy's DK2 to make sure it works smoothly with my computer. I want this for playing Rocksmith 2014 and music production shit. I also wonder what it'd feel like to watch movies and play a decent spooky game on this.
>Please no more that $400 for this
>>52232900
what are your specs?
>>52232864
Call me again when they announce a release date and reviews say that it's better than the headsets we'll get in the future.
>>52232900
>DK2
Just be aware it's shit, old, and the software support is basically hell because it's a dev kit.
>>52232700
>Yeah just give them more money for something they're no doubt incorporating into their datamining
Well when it comes out you can see exactly how much datamining it ends up being capable of.
>>52232814
>random ads popping up constantly tell me to like this app
Well we'll see. Indications are that facebook is treating the OR itself as a dumb monitor more or less and want the software that the user runs with it to track them rather than the firmware in the device itself.
Facebook has a decent track record of not fucking with acquisitions.
I bet that the first consumer gen will have completely optional cancer.
>>52232864
>no release date or dev kit
no thanks
>>52232903
I really should upgrade soon this might be a good excuse after a paycheck or two. Give it to me straight are these specs okay for the oculus?
1920 x 1080 pixels
2.6 GHz Core i7-4720HQ
12 GB DDR3L SDRAM
1600 MHz
1 TB SATA
512 GB SSD
NVIDIA Geforce GTX960M
3.0 Portsx4
>>52232976
>gayming laptop
Kek
>>52230935
I would, but my Pc only has a gtx660, so I think it wouldn't be able to handle rendering all of it
Maybe in a year or two when I get out of uni and into a stable job so I can build a OC that can handle it
>>52232976
>i7
>2.6ghz
>960m
lmaoing at your life
>>52232976
>GTX960M
lol. You need hdmi 1.3 and two usb 3.0 slots.
You MIGHT be able to get something with low-tier games if your settings are minimum.
>>52233000
I know I know. Bought it in college, due to portability reasons. It's been holding up well, and I'm due for an upgrade to a beefy desktop anyway, but can you sincerely answer my question, how would this be with the oculus?
>>52233035
look one post up, bud.
>>52231770
>TFW you barely have the minimum required specs but not quite
Whatever. I'll consider VR when I build another PC in a few years. Hopefully the next gen Rift will have more entry level spec requirements.
Would this finally be a reason to get a Titan or Titanx?
>>52233115
you will never ever have a reason to get a titan x.
>>52233128
But at least a Titan? Seems like you'd need a lot of vram and gpu power to render 2x 1080p screens at a decent fps
>>52233162
A 980Ti is cheaper and has the same performance
>>52233162
no. Titans are worthless for everything but bragging rights.
like ^ said, if you really want to be safe, get a 980 ti.
Reccommended specs is a 970, but you can MIGHT get away with at least a 750ti if you lower all the settings.
>absofuckinglutely no info on price
>nothing at all
>not even an MSRP
how the fuck am i supposed to know how much to buget if they wont even give the most basic fucking info the faggots they can suig my piel
>>52233226
>expecting the announcement of an announcement to contain info about the announcement it's announcing
Are you new to consumer technology announcements?

Nope.
