What should I do now?
>>
>>45859222
i dont understand what the cpu is attached to
>>
Heat it.
>>
lever it off
>>
>>45859222
Best to twist slowly
>>
>>45859243
The heat sink, obviously. It won't come off.

>>45859252
Yeah, no
>>
Put your dick between them
>>
let it run for a bit, and then try.
>>
Use as a timer and pretend you only have the time until the processor falls off to live. Accomplish everything you ever wanted to do, start a family, buy a house, travel the world, do whatever.

Or you can twist it off.
>>
>>45859282
Trying, but even when using full force it won't come off.

>>45859265
Dont want to hurt the CPU.

>>45859304
Are you sure heat would help?
>>
>>45859284
No really just give it a twist I've had this a few times
>>
twist harder nigga
>>
>>45859314
Of course I'm not sure, but that's the best option. If that doesn't work you're gonna have to drip 70%+ isopropyl alcohol between them slowly until it comes loose.
>>
Hold vertically, hold lighter about 2 inches away for about 15 seconds then try to pull off.
>>
>>45859332
I'm trying. ;_;
>>
>>45859350
Does this lighter fuel work too?
Twisting srsly doesnt work.
>>
>>45859408
You should have heated the CPU (benchmark, whatever) a bit before removing it.
>>
>>45859482
nope, don't put that shit near your pc parts. iso alchy will evaporate but oil will just fucking up everything and attract dust etc.
>>
du hurensohn nimm einen schraubenzieher und hebel das ab
>>
>>45859222
This is what happens when you use Krazy-brand thermal paste
>>
>>45859500
Can't put it back now.

>>45859513
Okay, what do you guys think about putting a lighter close to it, then?
>>
>>45859565
do it the other way - expose the heatsink to the heat
>>
>>45859546
Again: I dont want to hurt the CPU in any way.
>>
Knife + hammer.

>mfw screwdriver between the CPU PCB and heatsink ripped the heatspreader off the CPU itself
>>
>>45859222
razor blade
>>
>>45859565
Yeag hence the "should have". Try letting it a bit in a warm room; near the heater (not to close).

>lighter
Bad idea.
>>
>>45859591
Okay, this sounds good. Will heat it up. Brb.
>>
Do you have boozes? You can disolves stock AMD heat sink *glue* with alcohol.

>that will leave a film

Yes and no. Don't get any on the pins. Done it before myself.
>>
hair dryer
>>
>>45859616
How the heck did you remove the CPU without lifting the seating bar?
>>
>>45859222
How much paste did you use? Or did you accidentally use Gorilla Glue?
>>
don't use a lighter
use the damn oven
>>
>>45859639
Good advice, although lighter would be fine enough for heating the heatsink. It'd leave scorch marks though.
>>
>>45859636
AMD magic aint gotta explain shit
>>
>>45859636
He is mounting it, I guess. Which means he is retarded.
>>
>>45859636
Happens to be frequently. Best to remember to twist then lift.
>>
>>45859222
How did the CPU manage to come out of the socket that it was locked in? Did you force it out of the socket? If so then its broken. Not worth saving the cpu
>>
>>45859700
Twist, then lift? You mean, as opposed to using saiyan strength to rip it directly out? Surely, you jest.
>>
>>45859707
its not broken see >>45859671
>>
>>45859674
I had a friend that came to me with his CPU/heatsink disattached just like that, he pulled it off somehow. I know he did because I'm the one who put it together and it was working fine for like 4 months til that happened. Only difference is he had some bent pins on his, I'm guessing he tried to somehow remount it like that being stupid and shit.
>>
OP, did you pick up glue instead of thermal paste?
This thread is gold
>>
You're supposed to put the CPU on the socket BEFORE mounting the heatspreader.
>>
>>45859592
You did hurt the cpu. So its now fucked
>>
>>45859753
This is bait, in case you can't tell OP.

>>
This shit happened to me once with an AMD FX-8300 cpu that I had been using with some shitty $5 thermaltake cooler.

I swear the thermal paste on this thing was almost like krazy glue or something. I slightly bent a single pin trying to remove it but in the end I managed to set it back straight with a needle.
>>
I just use isopropanol when this happens to me, or acetone. But you can't get acetone in high purity so I would go for 99% alcohol.
>>
I'm back
>getting started
>>
Is /g/ seriously being autistic or just fucking with t his dude? stuck is exactly how cold thermal paste gets when it's cold. Why are you guys so retarded today?
>>
