Battlestation Thread: Comfy Edition
Post your battlestations /g/.
the tiny desk is pretty comfy.
I'm still heating my room with my computer since its still cold here even though it shouldnt be.
I leave for basic in just under a month though.
>inb4 speaker placement comment
Finally, I'm early for once.
Waiting on my T61, hopefully it'll be here before Christmas!
Fuck, i was about to make this thread. Wasted 2 minutes making this.
Early! Posting pics from Saturday morning. Not much has changed, except I've since reinforced the bookshelves so they don't sag.
Clean. I like it. Would only improve it by making both monitors the same, but that's minor. 9/10
Purple Lighting/10. Like the station though.
Couldn't live with that tiny desk myself, but glad it is comfy for you.
>>45655619 Saved, thank's. I'll use that on Friday on /v/ when It's the most populated.
>>45655694 Jesus, It's just a pic, it literally has nothing to do with what I was saying, it's for entertainment, and discussion.
>>45655689 /v/'s entertaining, I like seeing the 14-17y/o's with their alienwares and shitty desks.
Yeah same, that's the downside of building a bunker.
I like the concept though.
I like the desk and the lighting
cramped, ugly desk, strange wall art
using weird tables. Monitors in center of table split and you'd have to curve your legs around the legs. PC case open.
>6/10 at best
That sure is cute
best one so far, whered you get the desk?
OP here, you will be much happier without the PC on your desk, I used to not listen to /g/ when they would hate on the tower being on my desk, but now that it isn't its alot nicer.
Thanks anon. Desk is a cheap Whalen Cooper desk I got off Amazon. It's OK and serves its purpose, but to be honest I don't really like it all that much - it's not very well put together and the veneer is literally paper-thin. It's a knockoff of the Clybourn Desk, but that desk retails for $2500, which is more than I'm willing to spend on a desk for the time being.
Another monitor will be added at some point (used to have 2 4x3 monitors, but haven't bothered using them since making the switch to widescreen a little over a year ago).
Don't do most of my listening in this room, though, so probably won't go for great speakers anytime soon. Might get a nicer pair of PC speakers than these logitechs, though.
>>45655746 Thanks! I was thinking about buying myself a new case, but in the end I determined it would be a waste considering this Asus case is still fully functional and has some nostalgia to it.
>Weird tables. Alright? I was thinking the same about all of the "weird", little desks scattered all over the internet for sale and figured I'd save time and money picking up a few 5ft tables.
You're right though, I need to work on placement. but than again, I don't care.
>>45655763 Keep telling yourself that, it look's pretty bad man.
>>45655764 I approve, look's thought-out, like you put effort and a bit of intellect into it. :) Nice work!
Minimalist. I agree with >>45655762 - will look better (and probably feel better too) with the PC off the desk.
The railing on the edge of the desk is throwing me off for some reason.
Not a big fan of oak desks in general, but I do like this. Probably the coziest setup so in this thread so far.
OP here. I've gone through lots of changes throughout the years but the total cost of it all at this point is around $3500. I'm only counting my desk here.
I'm talking about some cheap $40 Daytons or something.
3 short bookshelves: $60 (an additional $20 went into them two days ago to fix the sagging shelves)
Corner Light: $40
Lounge Chair: $300
Task Chair: $180
Tall bookshelves: Dunno, had them for a decade or so.
Artwork: $200 (estimate of prints and frames; don't remember for sure)
Flooring had some cost too, but did that along with the rest of the house (same for painting and blinds)
Books also had a cost, but fuck if I'm going to figure that out. Probably $4-5k or so over the years.
Two computers probably have around $1500 or so of parts in them.
Router was $75ish, same for cable modem.
I think that covers most of the shit there.
It's not much, but it's comfy enough. Girlfriends setup is nice as well, right about the same, but it's an mItx build.
You have to do something about those cables.
/g/, what is beat tier?
Desk oriented in a corner, or desk oriented along a wall with no corners?
>>45655984 That's fine, more cable management.
Think ahead, think thinkpad(tm)
I managed to take a shitter picture of my battlestation because I can't find a fuck to give when I'm busy with other shit. Stay classy /bst/
>>45656014 Massive twisted ball of fire hazard.
>>45656022 Same here, I'm really excited for my T61, I just need a distro, was thinking Arch.
Thanks, but this is actually old and out dated.
I actually have this popular build now. But ATX was all wasted space for me. If you go m-ITX, buy a good board, get a good case to hold your drives, and you'll be fine. Need a "sound card?" Just get a USB DAC/Amp. Most things people "need" internally can be solved over USB easily.
I don't mind, with the width of my new desk.
I'm worried about wall reflection, when my speakers will be angled. So I shouldn't have much.
Any time, anon.
It's an In Win 901. And yes, it has black-tinted, tempered glass sides. Available in m-ITX and ATX, with brushed aluminum in Silver, Champagne Gold, and soon a Black.
How's the glass box heater?
Kidding, that's my favorite case every created.
Keeping it clean would be a bitch though, I'm considering using it for a future build.
Any useful accessories for an android phone besides an extra battery? Is there like a bluetooth USB hub?
No. Smartphones are becoming a joke.
It's actually very cool, with the right components. Like a blower style GPU. A PSU with extra wattage so it runs cool and the fan can exhaust ambient air comfortably. A 92mm exhaust, a 120mm intake. Temps are as follows:
>CPU idle ~30-33°C, around 45°C-55°C depending on game, after 15 minutes.
>GPU idle ~40°C, load in games is around 50-60°C
>SSD stays between 19-23°C
Good case. Worth every penny. Just use a modular PSU, do a nice job on the cables. And buy parts that work for it. Also, extra wide GPU's (like STRIX, or most ASUS DCU II cards won't allow the glass to close.)
Not bad. Not super quiet either. Depends on your fans. Mine isn't overly loud. But something like my old 550D was definitely quieter. I'm using a Corsair AX760 PSU, EVGA GTX 670 4GB (definitely the loudest part, with coil whine), a Silenx Effizio 12-15 (120mm) intake, and two Silenx Effizio 09-15's (92mm), one as exhaust and one on my NH-L9i heatsink. I'd rate the quiet factor a solid 7.5/10 with my set up. Not bad, could be better with a silence optimized case.
Oh, I thought you wanted fullsize.
I bet it's nice to work with but it looks ugly. Nasty looking grill, just a block of plastic, weird square block form factor, exposed cd drive, clunky... its just terrible looking and doesn't look good on a desk.
pic related, this is what it looks like to me but in black.
Why do people always insist on taking pictures of deer and other animals on their property, it's not like they're some rare mystical animal or anything special.
>>45656602 I was thinking the exact same thing. made me kek hard. --->>>45656650
Corsairs trolling hard.
I found my answer
I just hope it works
not a regular on here, but people liked it the last time so i'll post again. sorry for shit pic can someone buy me a camera.
Still considering switching to an SG10 or TJ08.
If I did that I would do it when I get 980's, and I'd get blower style cards so I wouldn't have shitty CLC's on my GPU's.
SG10 or TJ08? I wish there was a pic comparing their size. TJ08 doesn't seem much smaller than my case, SG10 looks tiny as fuck.
How are you spending your evening, /bst/?
Remember, just because you're a NEET, doesn't mean you can't have a relaxing end to your day, even if that does end up being at 5AM or something. Your battlestation is comfy; get comfy in it.
All of these are amazing.
Here's my updated battlestation. Sorry about the poor contrast, the lights fuck with my camera so I had to adjust it in photoshop.
No, I don't get neck strain. Just comfy.
Reposting a pic because I'm too tired/lazy to take a new one.
No room to rest your arms though, that's one of the main reasons I'm looking at buying a new desk myself.
Do you not have the side to your case? It kind of looks neat but the powdercoated grey doesn't. Also one fuckup while drinking a beer/coffee and you'll be looking into a new build.
No you haven't. I like seeing your station on here but I gotta agree that case is pretty ugly. Whatever you like though anon.
That mug is perfect. I need to buy myself one about that size for weekend mornings when I don't want to walk to the kitchen and fill up another glass.
I need a camera other than my phone so I can play with the shutter.
>tfw no money for a decent battlestation, let alone computer
Anyone familiar with Backtrack by chance? I have a few questions.
ProTip; he's not. He can't even work on his living conditions.
Oh I forgot to add the picture. I think I got too many vaccines :(
One day, I'll buy a nice camera and learn how to use it.
>Also, r8 because I'm insecure and need validation from anonymous people on the internet because my stepfather never hugged me.
There's a deeper meaning than that to why people post on these threads, it has to do with belonging and acceptance... also you're correct, validation, even I feel better after being complimented on my cool case, or my monitors. it's natural.
anyways, solid build, can I have a link to your soundclown?
enjoying it :(
>expensive l33t gamer mic
>books blocking speaker sound
>plays piano what a fig
>razer gaming mushroom
>not a gnu/linux controller
>razer archgentoo stickers on case
Solid 3/10 anon. Kidding of course it looks nice. And I don't buy a camera just to impress /g/ if that's what you're thinking.
also, I'm a podcaster mostly
(please don't hate me for my site, with 3 people trying to keep up with everything, we found it easier to just link it to a Tumblr. I apologize in advance)
I do have some shitty music, but I'm a much better studio tech than musician, so I don't have rights to most of the stuff I actually do work on. But here's some garbage, anyway
again... I'm sorry...
Thanks, anon. And I just used the one in my bs pic. It's an MXL Black Widow. I'll tell you now, though, the mic was only half of it. The magic's in the mix.
It helps that the guy, Alton, is a real pleasure to work with. He's a phenominal artist.
Screens: iMac Retina (i7, R9 M295X), Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013, iPad Air 2, iPhone 6+
Input: Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000, Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch, Speedlink Black Widow, Fender CN-240SCE

You need a new desk what are you fucking 5? 4/10
Tidy I like the space 8/10
I feel like this would be my grandmas house if she was a techie 7/10
>needing q-tips often enough to warrant placement on your desk

I got it for free, and since I'm q bio major it wouldn't hurt having one lying around anyway.
Used it pretty often when I was 15-17 during high school, but now I got acces to better microscopes, I rarely touch it, just to check out some random plants I find.
I'll give you too much stuff in a small space, but I don't want/ need a sub. I need as flat a sound as possible for mixing/ tracking and it's already bad enough that I'm in a corner.
Though I do have an extremely plush, thick quilt I hang when I need to to act as a makeshift bass trap. Getting some Owens corning 703 to make some proper removable bass traps soon
ITT: poorfags buy $1000 computers and then put them on a $50 desk in a room with no/cheap furniture in a shitty, middle-class house and then take a bunch of fat chick myspace angle pics with the lights off to make it look good
why do you faggots do this shit it is absolutely ridiculous
7/10 pretty nice
0/10 absolute trash
looks like a fucking mess but then again we can't actually see anything
this can't really be yours

5/10 nice fan room needs improvement
cramped as fuck nice lamp though
Potato quality picture coming through. My plebstation, it's far from any good, but I like it
I shall reward these tripdubs with my favorite wallpaper
So poor people are all suddenly faggots. That's nice, anon. You must be be the richest straightest guy in all the land.
Get lost you elitist fuck. It's what you do with the PC that matters not what object it sits on.
Oi m8 I think you mean 1 shitty, 2 ugly monitors. my monitor stand is two 2x4s not books u cunt.
$180 for monitor
$30 for crt monitor
$45 for desk
$100 for keyboard
$250 for speakers+amp+subwoofer
$800 for pc
$4 for 100% real wooden gaming monitor stand
$1409 CAD total.

$100 for headphones
$100 for keyboard
$40 for mouse
$50 for other mouse
$400 for one computer
$900ish for the other
$20 for desk
$80 for midi keyboard
Then there's other stuff like hard drives and such. Plus I don't want to think about how much money I've spent.
Need some speakers and need to finish this new build, too.
Too lazy to post mine right now but:
450€ Computer (second hand)
750€ old as fuck laptop
150€ BENQ BL2405
60€ BENQ FP5|G (second hand)
150€ Ducky Shine 3 TKL
60€ Zowie FK1
25€ Zowie Mouse Pad
60€ Wacom Bamboo
For free: McVoice Amp and JVC Speakers from a radio
It's not about you being poor, it's about the arrangement and the prioritization of your gear. Setting a decent PC on a shitbox desk in a shitbox room in a shitbox house with a bunch of shitbox peripherals isn't going to impress anyone, it just looks like you're trying to appease some /g/ god or something
and you all use the same exact shit.. monitor/bookshelf speakers, those fucking $100 keyboards with the numpad chopped off because you're too stupid to recognize that those were originally all sold via viral marketing and you skimped on your rig just to get some clickyclicky even though you type slow as shit anyway, shitty "gaming" gear and LEDs everywhere lmao
-3800$ 30 Bad Dragon toys.
-890$ Temperpudic bed
-1000$ KEF speakers
-300$ Ikea desk
-1300$ Anime figurines (limited edition ones)
-1000$ Aereon chair
-899$ 21:9 Monitor
-400$ Ribbon Microphone
-750$ Analog Mixer
-2000$ Red Wine Audio Amplifier
-300$ Costume Mechanical Keyboard
-100$ wireless mouse
-1500$ Wacom Tablet.
Yep that's about it.
- Your wall art could use some work. The size, location, and arrangement of your art put too much focus on the computer desk and monitor and make the room feel a off-balance.
- Those speakers look low-quality and they're really ugly.
- The blue LED casefan in the 1337Gam3rCase is atrocious.
- What's up with that thing in the back-left corner with the single bottle on it?
- Bigger and better desk in my opinion
- Could replace that (reading?) chair in the back with a nice comfy couch and make the room feel less congested and more cozy at the same time
XXXX€ Computer (no idea on exact price)
200€ APC Back-UPS RS 900G
1000€ Audeze LCD-2
400€ DALI Zensor 3 bookshelf speakers
200€ Yamaha A-S300 amp
200€ TubeMagic D1 Headphone amp+DAC
70€ Zowie FK
150€ Filco Majestouch 2
50€ Custom Keycaps (softer POM)
500€ Dell U2410
1600€ LG 31MU97-b
150€ Blue Yeti microphone
XXX€ Cheap-ass but comfy chair/desk (second hand)
490€ HTC Nexus 9 tablet
370€ X-Rite ColorMunki Photo spectrophotometer
About half of it was paid by myself, most of the money came from GSoC which was like 4000€ in 3 months, and I earned the rest tutoring at university.
Other components were paid by my parents over the course of several years, this generally includes stuff I can justify needing; like mice, keyboards and the PC itself.
Good ideas for the most part. Agreed on the speakers, desk, and case fan.
The chair though is too comfy to get rid of, and there's not room for a couch anyways (the back wall had a big sliding closet door on it). The corner bottle is a bottle of scotch; there's two glasses there as well, but they're obscured by the chair.
Definitely need to play with artwork spacing, though I'll probably hold back on that until I have a new desk.
Thanks for the thoughts/advice.
will post a couple that I liked and saved from /g/
This one's not really to my taste but I think it's done well and looks nice overall
>Its Ikea, you know nothing about interior design.
I know it's Ikea. My point is that it's something achievable for most people in this thread, who seem to be 16-year-olds living with their parents.
>amazing MCM pieces
I saved and posted it for a reason you retard
Recognizing that it's nice doesn't mean it has to appeal to my personal tastes
The floor lamp above the bed is pretty cool.
I want one, but they're pretty expensive.
When I get to move into the 93m2 3-room apartment I'm waiting for more information on, I'll try to see what I can manage as far as furniture and decorations go.
At least I'll get some decent shelving/storage going so I can tidy up my desk in a way that doesn't involve simply putting all this shit on the floor or on my bed.
Can you stop? Share these another way, anon. You are taking other people's spot with battlestations that are even yours. Let people post their own battlestations.
Also; I've got the elevating legs for an elevating desk ready.
I won't order a 2000x800x27mm piece of wood for a new desk before moving (along with a 2000x200x18mm piece for a monitor shelf).
And I've got the Velcro I'm planning to use for cable management.
Any suggestions for desks? I love the one I have currently, but it's old as fuck and won't survive the cross country move I'm making next month. Looked into the Ikea counter-top route. Anyone have experience with those?
Mousepad suggestions also welcome, never had to use one. My current desk has a leather surface on the top of it which worked well.

musicfag/10. I like it, a bit too plain.
8/10 the weebshit is nice. Clean your desk up a bit.
Nice. 9/10... Why the two keyboards?
Comfy as fuck. 8/10
Jesus Christ those cables/10
Taking pics of updated/upgraded setup soon so until then will post what it was. Some have seen it before perhaps.
Big screen is a projector shooting onto a fixed screen.
I put it together over time..it has gone through a few rebuilds/upgrades. Spent probably about 6-8k over it's many lives. That includes desk and shit, which was spendy by itself..it is Anthro. Currently everything seen in the posted pic has been upgraded..only things the same is my desk and chair some of the peripherals and main PC case which I am actually shopping around for a new one currently. Since that pic was taken I have rebuilt the pc, all new monitors..3 Asus 24inch 144hz, new Projector(deciding on new screen for it as well currently),kb/ms..etc etc.
>And I thought my friend's setup was rigged. Nice work anon, looks like that thing keeps pretty cool too.
Idle temp 39 celsius, 1h benchmark with prime95 57 celsius
>What the fuck kind of MB is that?
>What the fuck kind of CPU hot enough to need a fan comes on a plug in standalone socket?
Jokes aside its only temporary solution, smaller fan replaced original cpu fan now cooling the gpu and bigger fan is now new cpu/case fan. An its still going to get its power from (broken) standalone socket. As soon as I finish that project I will post my built log here in /g/
Backtrack is not a OS to use like a normal OS. It's designed for pentesters, not normal users.
If you aren't a pentester, you should look for distros like Fedora, Ubuntu and shit.
Make one out of bones from deer.
I dunno man, doesn't look very comfortable.
If done correctly, that could have some potential...
>Actually caring about someones number score.
It's not about what your machine is sitting on, or the neatness of your desk. The only thing that matters is what you fucking do with the hardware that actually matters.
Sorry, just woke up, I can't think straight, also hung-over.
This was actually taken the day after we moved into our new house, so I hadn't taken the time to tidy them up since I still wasn't sure if u was going to keep it that way. The area looks much better now, bar some Wii u cables I don't tie up because I move it between the desk and a TV in my bedroom.
The desk is just the one in the picture, except we got two of them at the time for about 70 each. It's a great desk, and the only complaint I had was that I received it and it was a tad scratched on one of the corners. May repaint it if I find the time one weekend.
>>45666613 Reminds me of >>45655609 if

Nice station though.
Desk: Free (probably around $25 at purchase, looking to upgrade soon)
Headphone Amplifiers 300e
Microphone and the stand 150e
Various other things like stands, wrist rest etc were about a 200e more. How long? I dunno. I keep upgrading this setup as I go on. Not going to list camera equipment or mobile stuff but those are a couple of thousand more.
Actually, tallying this up was enlightening.
$1500 on desktop (i7 920, 5870)
$500 on dell u2410
$300 on av123 speakers + amp
$400 on thinkpad x120e
$110 on das keyboard

some asus 23'' 1080p monitor (free)
$290 on commercial desk
~$100 on chair
$620 on 60'' LG plasma

Total $4610. That's not counting game consoles, software, and tvs / laptops I don't use anymore. I'm probably forgetting stuff too.
