There exists no 1440p monitor at 24". The smallest I can find is 27".

Why.

My asshole's not quite ready for 4k yet.\

whats the matter with 27"?
>>
>>45636050
Too big for me. Plus the upgrade would only be like 10% more PPI in comparison to my 23" 1080p monitor which isn't enough to be worth it for me.
>>
>>45636050
24" is already too big for desktop use. Your eyes have to gravitate away from the center of the display to see everything. 27" is full retard. Moving the monitor further away negates the clarity advantage of a higher resolution.

Monitors would be better served to become smaller, higher resolution and moved closer, not further away. I think desk mountable monitor arms should start becoming the standard for display stands.
>>
>>45636136
>become smaller, higher resolution and moved closer
you just perfectly described phone displays
>>
>>45636136
>>45636148

also if you want that then buy a laptop with 15.6" 1920x1080 monitor as I did
It was too small for me so I bought a 24" 1080p monitor
>>
>>45636148
yeah, phone display PPI is very nice.

>>45636169
not a problem if you have a monitor arm. laptops are utter shit.
>>
>>45636136
You must hate going to the movies.

I agree that monitors shouldnt get bigger though. 27" is pretty gigantic in my opinion. 23.5-24" seems like the perfect size.
>>
>>45636211
Movie theaters in america are fucking awful.
>>
>>45635943
Why do you want a high resolution display anyway? If you don't want more space then everything is just getting smaller. You are not falling for the apple shilling are you???
>>
>>45636136

I don't buy it. I have a setup like OP's pic. Yes I have too rotate my neck to see everything. But I have four virtual desktops full of different elements of project work, and dozens of open applications and simulations going.

It's great. Your app is open, look at the element that is important right now, drag related windows next to each other.

My next gen battlestation will probably have 3 4k ~30" displays rotated 90 degrees and tilted downward. A fucking suntan booth of pixels. And yes, I'll be using all of them hard. My biggest mistake is not doing this earlier.
>>
>>45636357

Jesus christ. What the fuck is it with you underage /v/ drones and your obnoxious way to use fucking buzzwords and reaction images?

From time to time I am really fucking ashamed to play video games myself because people will associate me with your kind.
>>
>>45636498
You can get them fairly cheaply. Not sure why you would think that's a point to contest. But you do own a 30" monitor, so I can only assume you must be pretty stupid.
>>
>>45636504
>assuming I play video games with my shitty 5870 that barely runs minecraft at full res

How retarded do you have to be to think that only one board does that shit? Or did you just discover 4chan yesterday?

You should be ashamed but only because you're a fucking moron

Apple™Retina™ Displays sure are great!

Gotta love those silly anons that don't believe Apple™Retina™ is the future of high-resolution displays. They should really head down to their local Apple™ Retail Store and try them out!
>>
the pixel density is perfect at 27", it would be so hard to read at 24"
>>
>>45636537

Samsung already sells a 27" model for 400 dollars flat. You can find their 24" for not a whole lot more if you wait for a deal.
>>
>>45636639
Apple doesn't sell a 24" 4k display unless they've released something recently that I'm unaware of. I wouldn't touch an apple product with a 10 foot pole.
>>

I'm going to be getting three U2414H.

They aren't 10-bit, like some Ultrasharps. But they are 6+AFRC to make 8, with good dithering so you don't notice it.
>>
>>45636770
The retina thing was one of the only things they have ever done that wasn't a gimmick.

You're spouting memes, and you're retarded.

>>
>>45636784
I actually would prefer three monitors to that, spacing and sizing windows all the time instead of snapping them to a monitor/half a monitor with a click or two doesn't seem worth it.
>>
>>45636893
What? There are 3 major types of panels. IPS, VA and TN.

Wao si 10-bit, kama baadhi ya Ultrasharps. Lakini wao ni 6 + AFRC kufanya 8, na dithering nzuri hivyo huna taarifa hiyo.

>>45640296

27 @ 1080p?

how horrible
>>
>>45640296
>>45640747
Yeah I can attest to this. I have a 1920x1080p 24" and a 1920x1080p 27" that I got for christmas a while ago. Side-by-side, you can very clearly see the pixels on the 27" because of how big all the pixels are. If you play low quality videos or things get a bit distorted, it's even more so. If you play a game without some major forms of anti-aliasing, it becomes extremely visible.

I never recommend going 1080 for any monitors bigger than 24". The only times it's acceptable, is if it's for a TV or something very far away.

2560x1440 for 27"-32" is perfectly fine, but this is where you hit another wall and would want to upgrade to probably 4K.
>>
>>45640312
I say again, they're fucking great for laptops.
