I expect a realistic uninstall
I expect drivers
I expect the owners to stop shilling cash loans
I expect it to integrate with win10 and run hyper-v as an alternative for virtual box
I expect it to have a native editor that can open binary or utc8 files
I expect the swap file to be optional
I expect it stop making the command alias an alias
I expect it to concentrate on server deployments
I expect it to oem repo hardware instead of trying to swing people who can afford windows
I expect it to dev encrypting
I expect it to include a thin client
I expect it to stop samefagging with xp

No. You want this. But you do not expect this. If you really expect this you're pretty naïve.
>>
i would like it if it didnt lag.
>>
>>45582246
Lol, don't be silly, everyone knows linux doesn't lag.
>>
they are implementing systemd, arnt they? is it already in 14.10?

Unity gone.
>>
>>45582319
i have windows 7 and ubuntu on my computer. I find windows 7 to be more responsive and snappier.

ubuntu lags compared to it
>>
>>45582370
when you say lags, do you mean there is literal lag? or just that windows is faster than it?

>using anything but LTS releases
>>
>>45582408
i think literal lag.

when i minimize/maximize a window, when i highlight something, when im changing the desktop background, and a few other things.

the main reason i got ubuntu in the first place is because i thought it was faster.
>>
>>45582419
Is LTS really worth it? It doesn't feel THAT stable.
>>
>>45582455
ahh. what WM are you using? unity? unity is pretty heavy on resources and likely wont function faster than windows 7+. xfce/gnome session flashback w/ metacity are lightweight alternatives that are easy to install. theyll run faster and consume less resources
>>
>>45582624
doesnt it come with unity as stock. i havent really changed much
>>
>>45582679
yes, regular ubuntu comes with unity. however, you dont need to uninstall it to use other window managers. you can install them and log out to switch what WM you use.
though of course you can remove unity if you like, it wont break anything as long as you have another shell to use
>>
Look the same, feel the same, slightly different default desktop, and updated versions of software.
>>
>>45582456
Got my dad on 14.04 w/ LXDE, thing's stable as fuck, even on a ~10 year old Frankenstein machine.
>>
Mir, or Wayland, or whatever, something other than X.org.
>>
>>45584508
This, hopefully. Though I may have to switch to Fedora or something if Ubuntu keeps making their own half assed alternatives to OS components.
>>
>>45584557
I've got Ubuntu/Unity on one of my machines. I'm willing to give Mir a try. But if whatever they put together just feels like crap, I may take another look at Fedora too.

How do you uninstall an OS?

Not Ubuntu's domain.

>I expect it to integrate with win10
Stopped reading right there.
