It's not coming back guys
Peter's blog: http://blog.brokep.com/
The huge corporations are winning
I never expected to live to see the day when getting content would range from impractical to impossible. I guess I always took it for granted.
Internet used to be mostly unregulated, anonymous and truly free
Now it's taken over by huge corporations who make it so society expects you to use your real name online, who track your every activity until you're uniquely identifiable across all websites under the guise of marketing and national security.
A friend of mine (normalfag) told me something interesting the other day when we were talking about the semantics of web browsers. Remember how we used to say "surf the internet"? I asked her why we don't say that anymore.
She told me surfing sounds more like an adventure, like exploring. And that most people don't do that anymore, they mostly just browse a couple of websites.
Internet is just not as fun anymore.
I agree with that sentiment. Depending on piratebay was holding people back. Now that piratebay is down, and hopefully down for good. There will be better, more secure, and more accessible alternative that will be developed. Depending on torrent is not good for future. There needs to be something better.
Peter is a faggot, he sucked too much dicks in the prison. He could die as a hero, he decided not to do so.
>uses google chrome
>why cant I be anonymous
Ive never been more anonymous than now, you are just a faggot, like Peter,
That blog post was really moving.
> It feels good that it might have closed down forever, just a real shame the way it did that.
He says it might have closed down forever.
I'm really going to miss TPB. It was a great site, and I'm so used to it...
Anyhow, magnet link is still available for all their torrents, so I'm sure someone will [successfully] revive it.
cute how you can login with g+, fb or twitter to chat with your pirate friends
Wack0 • 30 minutes ago
By the way, there's one "replacement" I've heard of that has existed for the last few years and is behind a paywall. The password is easy to guess, though. I won't link it here for obvious reasons (plus they clone other popular torrent sites too), but it's hosted in Estonia.
The password? well, it's 5 characters, the last 2 are the same number, the exact amount of money spent! The first three characters are a common verb..
anyone knows what is it?
That's just what this asshole wants. But it's not happening, http://thepiratebay.cr/ has been slowly coming back online since yesterday. The torrents are back up, we're waiting for search and logins now.
you shut up bitch.
'the fuck up.
enjoy your limited, narrow internet cunt.
some of us remember when it was open and free and beautiful.
you don't cause you were probably born after 2000.
god what a little shit-mongrel you are...
>pirating bullshit regurgitated by big studios and record companies
Good riddance. You're better off buying music directly from lesser known artists. Those big labels and studios just release the same shit every year because it's "safe". How many rehashes of Spiderman, Batman, Transformers, etc. can you swallow?
>this will be us in before all is said and done.
Wasnt peter libtard of the team? i remember seeing him on some pro immigrant protest in the TPB movie. Also didnt other guys say that peter didnt really do shit and was just the pr guy. if this is true then who the fuck gives 2 shits what that faggot says?
Peter Sunde hasn't been in charge of operating TPB for a long time and has no input on as to whether it will return. It's other people who are operating it now, as mentioned in his blog post.
shut the fuck up. TPB is more than that. They were fucking unstoppable for all this time & now they're borderline untouchable & this faggot wants to keep it down based on morals.
Why would you pirate anyway according to this image
>Internet used to be mostly unregulated, anonymous and truly free
It was like that, but then DMCA came and after a couple of years they started killing us one by one: first Napster, then Audiogalaxy, and finally the started targeting people.
Internet is dead. You could have stopped it.
Daily reminder that prosecuting people for sharing files (i.e. transmission of numbers) should be unconstitutional since it's protected by the first amendment.
>ib4 CP should be protected too
>I don't think you understand that image.
I think that's the point, his point is that hollywood is so divorced from reality at this point they'll believe anything as long as it confirms their beliefs.
How long until Demonoid gets back on it's feet and everyone starts uploading there instead?
Ive been looking back into legacy p2p services like hotline.
Anyone else doing this already?
>You could have stopped it.
Lets be honest here no one would have stopped it even if they could. The only people that can stop it are very rich and they benefit from having these stupid laws in place so they'll never stop it.
I've no idea what Usenet is, heard it thrown about a bunch but I have no idea how it works or what sorta stuff you can actually acquire once you have paid for access. So I'll ask my fucking stupid questions in the hope someone might make me feel like less of a retard.
>How do I go about getting things once I have a usenet account?
>How decent is the amount of stuff available compared to TPB?
>How quickly is something available on usenet after it's release?
>Am I obligated in any way to seed and all that shit?
Feel ashamed to live in Sweden when shit like this happens.
Our goverment is just so full of shit and does everything the greates country in the world (USandA) tells us to do...
At least you had it.
There's a reason no other country in the world does it, because they'd get shut down to quickly.
You got away with it for plenty of time, until finally the pressure from all around the world was just a bit too much so they had to get it done.
Shit sucks but at least you tried.
(Norway is still better, but whatever)
kickass is bigger and better anyways, everything from demonoid and tbp ended up there
and there's btdigg
what a load of crap. TPB is not about some amazing technology. It just works fine and it has the biggest database of torrents. Thats why its so popular. Also ive never encountered any bugs and the search engine works perfect
>Site is either down, blocked or so intensely slow that it's unusable
>How do I go about getting things once I have a usenet account?
Find a .nzb host
>How decent is the amount of stuff available compared to TPB?
Best. Since stuff is stored on a server, you get max download speed. No bullshit seeders. Also no RIAA/MPAA fake seeders to worry about
>How quickly is something available on usenet after it's release? Same as it wouldve been via tpb
>Am I obligated in any way to seed and all that shit?
no. Because ther is no seeding. HOWEVER, some nzb indexing sites may limit how much you can download per day if you dont subscribe or contribute your own nzb files.
it was filled with retards who didn't know how to pirate anyways
plus it was a huge visible target for botnets creators and NSA to spy on your torrenting activity, fuck half the software torrents on it didn't even work properly.
TPB guys did more harm than good by waving their dicks at the lawyers and getting a shitton of publicity. Just shows that the guys running it were incompetent monkeys
whatever replaces it better be less about drama and more about utility
>Boat full of servers in international waters
>Jack directly into fibre optic pipelines under the ocean
>Plenty of generators and fuel brought in regularly
It truly is the dream.
>implying it won't end up attacked by SEALs
Israel will be proud of it's SEALs on how fast the destroyed that boat.
You gonna need at least an aircracft carrier protected by a whole fleet with an army of mercenaries 24/7, only then it's gonna be too much for what the american government can do without getting into trouble
>Never update the site
>Leave it a broken piece of shit filled to the brim with ass
>Turn your full attention to dick waving and the flipping off of authorities
It was a load of shit anyway, if demonoid was a bit more functional, I'd hope everyone would just ship over there. But I doubt it somehow.
Can't find a way to access KAT here in Britbongistan so I'm fucked.
>Desecrating the beautiful nation of Sealand for use by disgusting pirates.
But no really that would've been some top notch shit right there.
That's why it's a dream and not a reality.
>If it is, it won't be long before it's just "Sea"
>The original deal with TPB was to close it down on it’s tenth birthday. Instead, on that birthday, there was a party in it’s “honour” in Stockholm. It was sponsored by some sexist company that sent young girls, dressed in almost no clothes, to hand out freebies to potential customers.
If you have the money you can force your connection easily. Or you think that every single company that sells internet connection it's paying monthly to some super owner of the whole internet?
Well, it's a country made of petrol extracting platforms, even if you take really good care of them they are still deteriorating, so i guess it will eventually sink
I really do wanna give the creators or even companies money for publishing good stuff. But I do not believe that the way most big companies publish their content (with DRM, restricted access etc) is the way to go.
I'd prefer the ACS approach or Google Contributor thing to anything else, really.
Ok technically literate people: why isn't there a widely used system for p2p website hosting (as in, a swarm downloads and uploads the site itself)?
For files, this was an obvious improvement as the feds can't 'go for the uploaders'.
So why does a site have to rely on some server room in Sweden?
>Vast multinational companies who make more money yearly than some small countries
>Rarely pay taxes, either via loopholes or being given ludicrous tax breaks by people they've paid off
>Go to town on people who download their stuff and actually don't have any real impact on their incomes.
>95% of people are completely okay with this, don't know or simply just don't give a shit.
Quite why we're not all out in the streets burning down the towers full of insanely rich people who look down on the rest of the world as their piles of money grow higher.
The wealth divide is not only outlandish it's downright immoral, and shit like this is how they got to where they are and there's no way back now, the people who are best placed to stop this shit are being paid off, and the governments we live under no longer serve the people who elected them.
World's going to hell in a handbasket and the only reason I haven't put a bullet in my head is because I'm quite content to sit at home and watch the world crumble.
because it still implies hosting in a country with copyright laws.
you can set something like that up in somalia, but you might as well expect a hired militia gunning the server room down after being paid by Hollywood
not to mention high latency and being easier to block due to shitty connection.
P2P by definition is you connecting to someone else, many in fact. If you want to mask your ip to someone else you need to VPN.
Nah, you still get routed through your ISP at some stage and Virgin Media slaps you with the usual "blocked" shit.
I might go ahead and do that, seems like less of a hassle. (assuming it works)
>Hurr durr clearly he's too stupid to have tried that.
No, they just seemed to not be working for shit for whatever reason, perhaps qBitorrent is just fucking with me, I have no idea.. After a couple more attempts at getting .torrents to open I'm all good on that front.
>Did this raid do anything?
Kills the community.
Which was the only good thing about the pirate bay: people commenting on the quality so you don't download garbage like with other torrent sites.
Somehow I doubt people who SERIOUSLY feel this way will ever have grandchildren in the first place.
Anyway, it's not the end of the damn world. Besides, there is a different scenario in which people realize how much time of their life they might have wasted on doing the same thing over and over again without ever finding a way of defeating their addiction.
Yes, I am projecting.
I remember when it went down a couple of years back, someone uploaded a torrent somewhere where it had an archive of all the magnet links that were on the tracker at a specific point, did they do the same thing again this time.
Get out of there. They kill torrent uploads, have shitty traffic management and block everything the Jew asks them to.
But let me guess... They're the only ones who offer that glorious fibre optic cable you the tax payer paid for during the NTL days?
God I hate plutocracies.
You never had the resources to stop it.
The best you could do was delay it by a year or two while the powers that be changed the name of the law and submitted it with less fanfare every 3 months until people got bored and tired of fighting.
This is what we are. We don't fight unless there is some real hardship, and when something is done to us enough, it stops being a hardship, and just becomes part of life.
Serfdom is coming back, and by the time it does, you'll be grateful.
>Countries are all now run by people far better equipped to deal with uprisings
>There are so many people, all of which are scattered so far socially that we will never all unite under one banner
>We will never revolt against the current system or the way the world is going
>We're on the downhill slide with no way to recover
It's all ogre.
Am I the only one who fucking hates these liberal hippy morons who say things like 'information deserves to be free' and 'technically it's just a long binary number, you can't copyright that' etc.
I mean, the whole information is free thing would be a decent point, that is if we're talking about some key medical research hidden behind some greedy paywall, not the latest episode of some shitty TV show purely made possible by capital gain.
Fucking just say 'I pirate because I know I'll get away with it and it saves me loads of money' not this liberal hippy dumb shit.
I guess you did not read about the shitstorm sony is in.
People will always be 2 steps ahead (off themselves).
Yup. It's the shittiest justification for what amounts to the lowest level of crime ever.
I'll give them a bit of leeway based on the fact these assholes contribute fuck all to society and are generally detrimental to it.
Noted here: >>45564664
But it's still getting something without paying for it at the end of the day. Something with which I have no issue because I'd never buy any of that shit anyway (another shit justification, but the truth) and I'm part of what is essentially a tiny minority who doesn't detract from the vast amount of money these guys make anyhow.
Most of the site was magnets which are impossible to remove until the last person seeding decides to stop and the link itself is deleted off of whatever computers have it saved as a text file or in their torrent software.
I'm pretty sure there is a collection which has every single magnet link TPB used and anyone could just make a basic search website for all those torrents. They may not be classified into categories but oh well.
>founders arrested for obviously bullshit reasons
>laws made up on the spot as they go along
>for some reason this is completely okay
Not even sure how this is happening. This is corruption to the highest degree yet nobody bats an eye lid. People imprisoned unlawfully, basically kidnapped by corporations, against human rights, in the first world. Like seriously, this is so shitty. Everyone who handled the assaults on TBP should be hanged and their families gassed.
Corruption is absolutely rife throughout the western world.
Masking it in vague language and using legal loopholes are the way of the world.
Get used to it hombre, the people don't give a fuck.
wow didn't hear about that leak.
It this legit?
Thats the thing, I just cant get used to it. I should have perhaps but I just cant, its human rights getting blasted apart and if it happens it makes me think that we are just living in somewhere like russia, I would even say so when people comment then that its the first world and we got good rights here.
it changes the perspective for me at least. Eventually it does rub off somewhat on other people I hope.
Its kinda difficult to resist however when everyone else constantly reminds you how good the lack of corruption is with pols, statistics or whatever. Makes me think that its mostly just fabricated.
I mean, I am not retarded, I just cant ignore it, I may forget it if they fill the dialogue with the opposite. But I really dont want to forget.
There's nothing any of us can do about it, the world is what it is.
There was a time when we could all pick up a sword, and go take back control of the situation, put reasonable people in charge and restart the cycle.
We're beyond that now, there's no amount of anything we can do to wrestle back control of the planet, put it in the hands of incorruptible heroes and put ourselves back on the right track.
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer is an absolute now.
We can damn well make sure that the sentiments are not that of happiness and ignorance though.
But I think that the march on the freedom of information will also put that to a hold. With the "I am not a robot, please record my ip and a host of other personal information and send it off to google to be processed for thought crimes" to start off with haha.
Sometimes I really do wonder if it wouldnt be better if we just all nuked eachother.
>Not just inciting nuclear warorifare and destroying the entire planet, wiping out the human race
Glorious. Or, we need some Xenos to unite in our battles against them. I can't wait for the 41st millennium.
That's where I'm hoping we end up.
I'm a fucking miserable cunt, I've pretty much written off my life as a human.
However I do like the idea of watching the world tear itself apart, so I sit here and wait for my own death, hoping I at least get to see the start of some kind of dystopian future.
on /pol/ they used to say that it was the jews, but what they dont realize that even with the 18 million jews worldwide they cant be in every crevice of society. (they make their nests in the media)
The ones actually doing the other stuff are just whites likes us. Greedy fuckers who lack a concept of a "society". Greed and violence and the best part is that if we who preach ever get there to where they are, we might do exactly the same.
perhaps the world would be better off being run by a computer, one with lots of guns hopefully.
the distribution of companies is something like this
90% pure evil
We are already living in a grimdark 41k universe. There are pretty much no good guys and the whole world is filled with death and exploitation by the strong over the weak and mostly importantly, the cowardly.
even if it never comes back there's a ton of other torrent websites to use
>Sunde doesn't like how TPB became a symbol
Boo fucking hoo that's exactly why it should stay up even if I won't touch the site with a 10 foot poll.
It's the example of the impotency of 20th century media and all of their lawyeres in the face of the internet.
the corruption index also must be revised. Along with the economic freedom index, and the human rights one. This circlejerking of institutions has to stop and people should know that where they live in is still shit.
Far too many people don't care.
Not even stuff like occupy wall street had an impact.
That got a lot of attention, lots of people got onboard, it didn't change shit and nobody cared after a little while.
Short of everyone picking up a gun and forcibly removing those at the top, we're not gonna get anywhere.
well some of the more educated ones probably care. Otherwise they wouldnt have these circle jerk indexes for various things. If we could shatter their walls a bit it probably wouldnt change much, but at least another part of the population will be severely depressed and it may break somekind of gloomy treshold so that we can ascend into the cyberpunk dystopia that we deserve. I want to be the shadow runner.
I used to have a demonoid account back in the day, it was my prime place for torrents, then the website shutdown. When it started up again I couldn't remember the email I used or the password. Could you quickly post an invite code so I can get back in????
