8/10 What are your monitor sizes? I'm thinking of buying a dual monitor setup for the first time to finally get away from my horrible Asus laptop.
I'm currently thinking about the Benq xl2420z portrait and the xl2720z landscape. I dunno if that's gonna be a good idea though, do those sizes match up? Anyone?
>>
>>45420034
Those are two Dell U2312HM 23" 1080 monitors.
I would always get two of the same monitor, if possible buy them at once so they are from the same batch.
There sometimes are differences between the panels/suppliers for the same model and the color temperature, brightness etc can be different even with two monitors of the same model.
>>
>>45420068
>two of the same monitor
Of the same size or the same make? I plan on ordering them at the same time, but I'm still contemplating whether I should go 24 or 27 with the landscape.
>>
>>45420114
Depends, If you can, go with 2x the same make and possibly monitors of different sizes from the same generation/series. Personally I can't stand it, but then again, maybe you don't mind it at all if the color reproduction/contrast/brightness is slightly off.
>>

Do you have any problems with vertical font rendering on Windows 8? When I had two U2312s I tried the exact same setup as you have. 90° rotation yielded blurry fonts, not even fixable with MacType, 270° as seen in your pic was slightly better, but still noticeably blurrier than the landscape screen. I read it had to do with the pixel arrangement and that Windows doesn't support vertical font rendering (their ClearType shit) properly. What's your experience?

"Too bright" well can't you adjust the aperture to make it less bright?
The other option is to do as the other guy posted and get a few reflectors, flashes and stuff.

It's a nice oportunity to learn new stuff, check for some basic tutorials on how to control exposure and what every setting do. Reading the camera manual is nice too.
Basically you can put it on a tripod and set a long-exposure but lower the aperture so you'll get a sharper yet visible image.

If they look good to you and work fine for your purpose then who cares right?

But if you care what we think, then I find them cheap looking with the glossy bezels. 1080p at 27" is pretty crap.
>>
>>45423801
>1080p at 27" is pretty crap.
thats what I keep saying to myself, fuck I think i'll go with a 24" Asus
>>
>>45423801
>1080 at 27" is pretty crap
i'm a bit worried about this, i'm buying a 27" 1080p monitor soon. I can't afford a 1440p one as much as i'd love it. how bad is it? i'm currently using a 32" 1080p tv as a monitor - probably about as bad pixel density as you could get for a desktop monitor - and it's not awful. I can see pixels but text still looks quite sharp.
>>
>>45423824
>>45423888
It's fine and all till you try a higher resolution. Then you just can't go back.

But if it doesn't bug you then who cares. Maybe not needing higher resolution is a blessing. Saves you moolah.

Blue Yeti or AT2020?

How massive is the Yeti?
That's the only thing that's really throwing me off about it. And the fact that the AT2020 looks better.
The Yeti has better features, but I don't want a gigantic dildo that's gonna get in the way of everything.
>>
>>45425608
Thanks pal :-)
>>
>>45425667
are you a grill? if so, then audio technigga. at2020 is mememic, just get a yeti and you'll be happy enough, assuming you're talking about the xlr at2020 and not the usb version. If you're looking at the usb 2020, you might as well compare it to a snowball, which is still better.

>>
>>45425759

I'm talking about the XLR AT2020 that's on Massdrop right now.

Problem is that I don't have a mixer to plug it into and I was just gonna buy a XLR to USB cable instead. Would that diminish the audio quality?

>at2020 is mememic

What?
So you're saying the Yeti is a better choice?
>>
>>45425808
Its an FX8320. Microcenter's GPUs were shite. I have an Radeon HD 6670 that will go in there. I wanted a GPU that can drive a 4k display with a single connector and they didn't have one. They also wanted $350 for a R9 280x and $500 for a R9 290...both are $200 right now on newegg
>>
>>45425814
the at2020, sonically speaking, has the reverse problem of the M50 headphones in that it has more pronounced treble. This makes it sounds "sparkly" and "bright", which is why a lot of people like it, and why it's highly recommended as an alternative female vocal mic. The yeti is more flat and has a really good built in converter so you don't need a mixer, which you would need for the 2020. does that help at all?

it's also worth saying that flat and "sparkly" are totally up to preference, you may find that a bright mic works well with either your voice or for what you intend to use it for.
>>
>>45425883

That definitely does help, thank you anon.
So I'm leaning more towards the Yeti now.

Is there anyway to get around buying that mixer? I just really like the way the AT2020 looks.
>>
>>45425957
Blue also sells an xlr to usb converter, I haven't used it personally but I imagine its on par with the one in the yeti. You could also buy an interface, but those are more oriented towards music production and usually come bundled with some kind of production software, so if you think that might be something you'd be interested in then check it out, otherwise...not really. Just keep your budget in mind.
