shit... I forgot a motherboard... fuck...
>>
>>45399770
Why you want that i7? Get a 4690k breh. 16gigs is a bit much 8 should be fine for games.

>>45399801
7 is a bigger number than 5, right?

Seriously though, you think it'd be fine with the 4690k? Gimme the rationale and I'll probably swallow it.
>>
>>45399770
do you already have a proper gaming pc?
if so, buy a cheap apu based system and use steam inhome streaming.
if you don't, go for 8 gb RAM and an i5 as suggested by >>45399801
also, get a 120gb ssd and a 1tb hdd, seriously, save yourself some cash.
>>
>>45399864
I do have a pretty rad gaymen pc already. I haven't done any inhome streaming before, how reliable is it?

Got any specific part replacements for following this model? Currently pricing down the i5 and 8GB RAM.
>>
>>45399864
Also, if I'm streamin.... Do I even need the 1TB HDD?
>>
>>45399856

Because you're stupid and managed to build a $1000 piece of shit.
>>
>>45399856
Yes the i7 is better than the i5 but you should rather put that $100 on a GPU for most frames.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vrDk8d

Edited your build and put it on pcpartpicker
>>
>>45399874
I've been using it on my laptop, and over wireless, it's pretty bad, but wired, it's great.
and as far as the part replacement, everything else is fine, except I'd get the 120gb ssd +1tb hdd
>>
>>45399770
why the fuck would you spend $100 on a case that shitty?
>i7
nope
>16GB corsair
nope
>samshit evo
nope
>>
A reason against the i7 is that hyperthreading usually decreases the performance of games and sometimes by a lot.
>>
>>45399856
If you have to ask, you should probably get a non-K i5.
>>
>>45399891
If you do decide on streaming, since you already have a gaymens PC, then make sure you have at least a wireless n router that supports 5ghz and a wireless card that has support for that as well
>>
>>45399891
If you're streaming a 120gb ssd will do fine if you're running windows, if you're running a linux distro, I'd say 60gb would be enough, but for just a bit more, I'd get a 120gb anyway.
>>
>>45399891
Edited for streaming purposes, left it Intel with dedicated card in the case you don't want to stream every game

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/t4MTNG
>>
>>45399987
get another mobo, seriously
I'd still recommend an apu setup over i3+750ti anyday, but it's your money and build.
>>
Just tested inhome streaming on my network with another machine via wireless. Works like a charm and my livingroom will be hardwired, so probably better.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion guys, that's really gonna save me some bank.
>>
>>45400013
I'm not op man, I left the motherboard because of the wireless card in it, which would be more than enough for streaming. And before you say he should have it connected by Ethernet, he has his legit gaming PC somewhere else other than his living room. So unless he hooks up some power line, he's going to want wireless ac. As for the apu option, I can bet he would prefer being able to play games you wouldn't want to stream, for latency reasons, at more than 720p 30fps.
>>
>>45400090
With the streaming in mind, seems like >>45399987 had the right idea.

Any modifications to the following build you'd suggest? http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/t4MTNG
>>
>>45400090
Shiiieeet and I just finished that paragraph, op I'd still go Intel+750ti if for some games you need a direct connection (possible example: league or Dota) but if you don't play games that require fast reaction times I can edit the build for apu for cheaper.

>>Case - $100
>($100) Corsair Obsidian Series 250D Mini ITX Case w/ Windowed panel (CC-9011047-WW)

It starts with a retarded case, you want something quiet in your loungeroom, not a cheap loud windowed piece of shit. It doesn't get any better from there and I think you're a massive faggot.
>>
>>45400112
I'd probly swap the case, but its personal preference there
>>
>>45400158
>>45400159
That's going off what they have at my local shop, but this is the one I was initially considering:

Silverstone Tek Mini-ITX DTX Computer Case with PCI-E Riser and Custom Low Profile Fans, Black RVZ01B
>>
>>45400158
Ignore poorfag anon op, what you may like should not be affected by welfare scum opinion
>>
>>45399770
why do you want to put a brick into your living room as a noisy monster
>>
>>45400179
That's a premium case at a premium price op, if it was your main rig I would recommend it but it's only a streaming rig at this point. Do you not shop online op?
>>
>>45400213
Its a living room pc, I doubt it will get as loud as an old 360 and this is assuming he isn't going to be blasting his beast ass audio system
>>
>>45400219
No opinion either way, but I was hoping to score a deal at my store while the Black Friday sales are still on. Guy usually haggles discounts for me, but it's no guarantee it'll be cheaper.
>>
>>45400261
I see, go with what you can get at that point I guess but if you use one of those builds as a guideline I truthfully don't think you'll be disappointed
>>
>>45400291
Can I get away without the GPU if I'm just streaming? I can always add it later if I change my mind.
>>
>>45400306
With an Intel I wouldn't count on it, go with apu like previous anon said in that case

Don't want to make another thread on this but can someone give me some tips?

I'm currently looking into dropping my expensive 4 room cable provider and going with a home theater pc. I mostly download all my stuff but I need to get my family to shift towards a HTPC.

I have a Asus N56U that supports 2.4 and 5.0 ghz streaming, So I assume all media will go through 5.0. I plan on using a Nas, Will probably be 3tb +. And plan on buying some of this stuff on cyber Monday so I need to make this decision quickly.

I've been looking at these little boxes:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856102052&ignorebbr=1
These will probably be used a lot so I need something durable, and able to play and interact with a HDTV seemlessly. Any ideas?
>>
>>45400392
Do I need all 8GB of RAM or can I cheap out even more? Also, I don't think the CPU there works on that mobo, so any mobo suggestions?
>>
>>45400468
I'm pretty sure you'll be fine with 2.4ghz for media streaming. 5ghz streaming is found necessary for gaming as the main computer has to render the image and then send it to the other computer. Since most media is pretty rendered video and music, the amount of band with needed should not be that high. As for expecting your router to have a constant 5ghz connection, if I remember correctly having a 2.4 GHz device connected to the network will slow down the connection to 2.4 GHz. I'm not sure if I answered what you were asking but I hope I helped you at least a bit.
>>
>>45400543
Nevermind about Mobo, I'm tarded.
>>
>>45400543
>Do I need all 8GB of RAM or can I cheap out even more?

You probably won't, but you're going to save like $30 max by just getting 4 so I'm going to say stick with 8
>>
>>45400588
Lol I was going to point out I changed the mobo, but you saw :p. Anyways as for the ram I wouldn't reccomend it seeing as you're going to want to allocate about 2 gigs for vram, and the other 6 will be used for system memory.
>>
>>45400587
It helped, thanks for the reply. So I'll keep the entire network with the video streaming to 2.4ghz.
So now to focus on the actual HTPC, and suggestions?

See this for info: >>45400468
Should I build one or should I purchase one of these boxes.
>>
>>45399770
>$300 CPU, $230 graphics card
>gaming PC
Wrong. The graphics card is the most important component.
>>
>>45400657
Catch up with the thread.
We here now: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/YFK2TW
>>
>>45399816
I7 is a waste if you aren't rendering or doing crazy computations. Use the extra money towards a better go which would make more of a difference for gaming

Why not get a 240gb ssd and a regular 1tb games and HD movies take up space dude.

16gb may be too much you can cut down to 8 and still be fine for gaming and movie watching.
>>
>>45400655
The way I see it is that you're willing to spend around 400 dollars for the box, some ram, and an ssd. This for not include windows or whatever os you're using. Personally I would cheap out on the little boxes and get these

http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=56-164-017

Get a 120 gig ssd under $60 and 4gb of laptop value ram. $200 little htpc's that have ssd's
>>
>>45400708
Anon we talked him into streaming considering he already has a gaymen pc
>>
So this has been an education.
We're now looking at this machine exclusively as a streaming PC, so no GPU and very minimal specs.

Current build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/jYQfkL

Any final thoughts before I cross my fingers shit drops even more tomorrow?
>>
>>45400795
Suuure, I should not be held liable if the final product is not to your specific liking. I concluded on these parts because of experiences similar to this one and I personally found the execution to be enjoyable. Should you want more performance later on, buy more parts.
>>
>>45400836
I like the cut of your jib. I promise I won't sue if I wind up hating it.

Building a computer
$700 budget
I got a MicroCenter not too far from here.
and I'm sure I could find some good deals on Newegg.

AT&T Web Plumber going online Freelancer. I quit my job.
I am trying to build a computer good for graphics and audio.

I want something that's better than $800 that I would buy all in one piece out of the store.

Pic Related. The graphics card I'm using.
>>
>>45400847
... and then there's this guy...

Thanks everyone, I'm out. PEACE!

Does anyone seriously play on a TV using steam? Right now I have my PC connected to my 50" TV and played a bit of Wolfenstein: New World Order and Dark Souls, using an Xbox360 controller. It's horrible. Even PayDay2 with mouse+keyboard on the TV is horrible.

The only thing which was fun is Ace Combat assault horizon and Super Meat Boy, seriously.
>>
>>45400858
I'll give it a try lol

>>45400847
What you mean to say is that you want it to be better than a $800 prebuilt?
>>
>>45400876
I have, I can see how it wouldn't appeal to some people. I wouldn't do anything competitive on a TV, but using it for simple fun games using only a controller is perfectly fine.
>>
>>45400916
yes, that.

Is this a full package?
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/YFK2TW
>>
>>45400964
oh no. that doesn't have a keyboard or a mouse
>>
>>45400964
Technically yes, but I wouldn't use it for much other than streaming games from a stronger PC or an htpc. You want something to game on pretty much?
>>
>>45400980
I need something for my studio. my rap studio
>>
>>45400998
Will you game on it at all?
