/g/uys, I need a new laptop and I've been thinking about a thinkpad yoga, because of muh digitizer.
Try to convince me to buy something else
Also, thinkpad general
I just installed Windows Vista on my T60p. I have an important program that requires Windows to run, driver support in Windows 7/8 for the T60p is pretty bad and Windows XP is... Windows XP.
Rate how retarded I am.
You can get the x220t with an i7-2620M. It's basically as good as the i7-4600U of the highest end yoga, just a little worse in power consumption.
The x220t can take up to 8GB of ram, and 16GB in some cases, and you'll still get an ips display, just not at 1080p.
In the end it's up to you, but most people would probably recommend the x220t over a yoga because of it's reliability and build quality.

How bad is the yoga's build quality/reliability, because I don't really care for legacy thinkpad shit (for example, I don't mind the new trackpad), but I would actually prefer a 1080p+ display.
Also, are there any other brands that make decent laptops with digitizers?
Pretty much only ebay. Sourcing one can take a while.
My SSD came today for my X60. I'll be upgrading some hhd/ram and installing Trisquel later.
I gave it a good clean around the case and keyboard, removed ALL the stickers. It had XP and Vista stickers along with the others; windows id key, intel processor...
how come my battery is still shit, it looks good on paper. get maybe 3hrs , x201, using tlp also
I'm pretty sure there is a way to do it with TLP, but I'm not sure. Basically it just entirely discharges and then recharges the battery.
Haven't used Linux on a ThinkPad in at least 7 months.
Yoga is best laptop. Good screen without some retard unecassary discrete GPU. Foldable slim as hell, good battery ssd. Don't listen to these autists, its great. Use it for uni note. Tent mode is really cool too. Use it with a nice poker keyboard (modded to bluetooth)and a mouse when I travel. Eya better than having to put a keyboard in front of laptops keyboard.
I bought a T400 for 100$ and spend another 100$ upgrading, now I have a t400 with core 2 duo 2.53, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd, 160gb hdd for 200$.
Just bought a t540 (paycheck yay), thinking of selling my 2048*1536 IPS t60. Anybody here knows what a good pricepoint would be? $150 maybe? This resolution on a t60 is apparantly really uncommon so can't even find any completed eBay listings for this thing.

Hmmm... I'd take that for $150.
NT5.2 (Server 2003 only, XP 64-bit support terminated) and NT6.0 are the only sane MS choices left.
When the support for these OS's end, anything workstation related on Windows is no more.
Daily reminder that Vista/Server 2008 still has better CPU performance/utilization, better Superfetch algorithms for system with lots of RAM and less bugs, that will never be fixed than Windows 7, Server 2008 R2, Windows 8 and so on.
Mind you, the differences between Vista and Server 2008 are non-existant when using the exact same services. Well, x86 version of Enterprise Server supports 64gigs of ram with PAE, just like 2000 Datacenter and Server 2003 Enterprise.
it didn't work
then I looked it up and figured out that it doesn't work with "Datacenter" but with every other version and Server 2012. fuck me life.
applied some new thermal paste and these temps are insane mang.
Currently laptop is pretty fucked, looking for a new one. Is pic related a good idea? Reasonable price? What would be another good place to look besides Ebay and CL?
Sorry, not exactly a laptop-purchasing veteran.
This laptop is used and has some scuffs and scratches from previous use. (PLEASE SEE PHOTOS). It has been FULLY TESTED by a qualified technician. Its 320 GB hard drive has been wiped, but the COA is included along with a 14-DAY WARRANTY. windows 7 pro 64bits operating system, software, or any other accessories.
2.60 GHz Intel i5 3320M Dual Core
Intel HD 4000
14in 1366x768 display
Windows 7 Pro COA
Included power supply, and cord
random pic from the thinkpad disassembly files...
Can someone who has an x200/1 tell me what the size is like in comparison to the HP 2740p? I have a HP tm2t that's similar and heavier than it that died and was thinking of getting a Thinkpad instead of repairing it. I wanted something lighter and smaller to do general stuff.
Dumb question /g.entlemens, i jut upgraded my l440 with a M.2 128gb SSD placed in the empty slot, what would be the best way to clone my wondows 8.1 installation so i can finaly install gentoo on the original HDD
