Arch is pointless, Manjaro builds a system where I can enjoy all of the benifits of arch without having to deal with all of its bullshit.

Without Arch, there's no way the manjaro devs would be able to maintain their little spin-off distro. You only hate Arch because you're an inept user (manjaro's target audience), don't make the mistake that all users share this flaw.

If you want Arch for babby ducks, there are three other sane solutions. https://github.com/helmuthdu/aui, Archbang and Antergos. Plus, these use the real repos, not some Ubuntu like bullshit.

The wired internet part in the beginners guide is beyond fucked but the rest is quite alright

Manjaro uses it's own repos if i recall correctly and it's run by two people so take that as you will

Antergos is superior:
Keeps default repositories while adding another one atop
Advanced installer
Looks gorgeous off the box - even comes with normally not free theme free of charge
Variety of DE on one .iso image
Far less bloat.
>>
>>43709925
yeah. antergos is the shit. pretty much arch. just great installer. perfect installer actually. and not bloated at all. maybe i should tos son my laptop. also uses Arch repos. Unlike manjaro?

Good point. So why do archfags always on "HURR DURR WIKI" when this perfectly fine *shock* installer is available.

Hell, why isn't this included as a option on the arch iso...............elitist faggotry, that's why.
>>
if i wanted to install arch (which i don't because i'm not a faggot and masochist) i'd just use the AUI script.
>>
Arch is a part time job. You're thinking of gentoo. That, anon, is a full time job.

Arch is for elitists and ricers who DON'T have the time to install gentoo, and also for ricers who don't want to use mainstream software

>muh AUR
>i uninstalled gnome so now i need pythis and pythat with whatever-git to come close to the functionality i lost

>>43710088
I tried the AUI scripts to install Arch on a virtual machine with a 8GB - shit worked well.

But still happy with my Manjaro install on my main PC.
>>
>>43710150
Is it that automated that it will empty the whole drive without asking?
>>
>>43709960
Manjaro does allow you to use the AUR as well as it's open repos.

Dont let archfags tell you otherwise.
>>
>>43710184
wut?

I just used virtualbox to create a 8GB *virtual* hard drive (ie use 8GB of space on my main machine) to install Arch using AIS...

I've used both. Get fucked, typical " i had no problems wuttur u talkin bout hudurr" linux luser.

All linux distros end up being a waste of time and demand maintenance sooner or later. Some more than others. Gentoo more than arch, arch actually less than debian (someone please tell apt to stop breaking and handle itself gracefully like yum), and yes, arch is better than fedora in that respect

HOW THE FUCK DO I FIX THIS
Fresh install, tried openoing the web browser and I got an Input/output error, updated mt system and after a reboot, trying to open web browser sows firefox for a couple of seconds then it dissapears, the pacman bitched about some truncated files, managed to fix some (qtwebkit or somthing) reinstalling, but I dont know what these files (the ons with the x on their icon) belong to.
I really want to try this distro but fucking hell what a clusterfuck.

you know what, fuck you, i'll do half of it, lucky i'm drunk
#/bin/bash

# fontUpdate.sh
#
# script to automate font installation
# will scan home downloads folder for ttf files and move them to usr share font folder
# only does ttf files

# elGrandeRetardo, 21 august 2014

# scan downloads for ttfs
ls ~/Downloads | grep -i '\.ttf'
###### SOMEBODY HAS TO LIKE STORE THE RESUKLTS OR SOMETHING, I DON'T KNOW, HERE'S THE FUCK UP ON THAT LINE JUST ABOVE THIS ONE

# move font file(s?) to that folder
#while [ NUMBEROFFONTS -ne 0 ]; do
mv $FONT /usr/share/fonts/TTF/$FONT
#let $FONT=$NEXT[i]
#done
##### PROBABLY A FUCKUP THERE, I DON'T FUCKING KNOW, I THOUGHT I COULD DO BASH, I DON'T EVEN KNOW ARRAYS

copy to a text file and rename the file fontUpdate.sh
