I really enjoy it and my work capacity shot up, but I randomly got bursitis in my elbow after 6 weeks of it (was after the first week of my cut). I think it was caused by a combination of vertical pressing and dropping too fast on the eccentric of weighted chins/barbell rows, which is why it looks like it does now. If you get bored easily I wouldn't recommend it, but I haven't gotten bored of it yet. I also noticed a good bit of growth in the 6 weeks of it that I was not injured.

TL;DR go for it but be careful

I talked about it briefly in the last thread, but I dedicated this week to just getting a feel for lifts I don't normally do and am going to bring in for my new programming.

I did incline press, BTN press, JM press, SLDLs, BTN pulldowns, and the machine bench imitation (hammer strength isolateral press). It was fun, and I'm looking forward to trying out more lifts on Friday, then going hard for the next couple of months.

I hit 200kg in competition 4 months ago and since then I can barely hit 160kg for reps.

I've gained around 3kg since then, bench and squat both made decent gains, what's going on???

Also I often get pretty bad lower back pain but it goes away after a few minutes and squatting doesn't aggravate it at all

it relies more on mindset, mood, stress levels, etc. more than any other lift because it's just such a motherfucker neurologically - no feeling out the weight, no stretch reflex, just rip it off the ground or barely move it

it might just be fatigue from training, too

it could be lower back fatigue, or it could be grip fatigue which can sneak up on you and is the first thing to go when you are generally fatigued from training - it isn't always clear that your grip is fatigued or that you are having trouble holding on to the bar, in my experience you just spend more time at the bottom trying to set up and the bar speed is inexplicably slow (throw on some straps to see if this is the issue and report back)

Target 1rm is a stupid term and shouldn't have been use. It's just a training max that you estimate based on rep maxes, and you create a new training max each week, 3-5lbs higher than the previous, then try to hit the (whatever that week says) rep max corresponding to that estimated 1rm. If you manage to hit the rep max then it becomes your new training max and next week on friday you bump it up again, estimate the reps/weight you need to hit based on the new max and do it.
