I've just been going to the gym lately every other day. I do full body and just pick a couple big compounds and use Greg Nuckols progression idea for intermediates.

I work up to a 3 - 10 rep max, then I drop a couple of reps and stay at the same weight and do sets every couple minutes until I get tired. Is there anything wrong with this kind of training long-term?

Yes. Time under tension is key. You can do a quick concentric and a slow, controlled eccentric in most exercises (~4s on the eccentric phase) and your objetive is to get to 45s-60s under tension. Assuming you don't rest at all and do the concentric counterpart in one second, each rep will be about 5 seconds. If you do 10, you're still under the golden threshold. If you manage 12, you're at the upper limit for hypertrophy. Both are great.

Use weights, but do NOT compromise rep number for weight. If you can do 10 reps under X but only 8 under X+Y, then do the first exercise and focus on a good execution.

Could need some help lads.

Been doing Starting Strength for 8 months, had several months of due to sickness so lost a lot of progress a lot of times. I still feel like i got more progressive overload that is possible but due to stress and poor sleep i cant' keep doing Starting Strength as it burns the fuck out. Especially squats and deads. I am 28 years old.

My lifts are
110kilo squat x5
125kilo deadlift x5
67kilo bench x5
50kilo OHP x5
60kilo Power Clean x5

The original idea was to jump on Texas Method or something of that nature from Practical Programming third edition but seeing as recovery is a problem already on SS, i have no chance at all to possibly do that. So now i am thinking that it would be better to switch to a routine that focuses more on hypertrophy and less on heavy compound movements as heavy compounds stresses the nervous system more and requires more recovery. I want to switch to hypertrophy routine with 4 training days a week, hopefully something that is easier on the recovery then SS, and after i fixed the life circumstances that is giving me stress and poor sleep i'll go back to powerlifting style, either finish up Starting Strength or do some Texas Method variation. Does this sound like a reasonable thing to do?

So this is further down the article

If you want to get into the nitty gritty a bit more, there are already articles on Strengtheory about how lack of sleep makes it harder to lose fat and gain muscle, and about how chronic stress literally doubles how long it takes you to recover from lifting.

But right now, we can keep it simple. Training is like having a conversation with your body. You give it the message that it needs to get bigger and stronger via stress on the muscles, bones, and connective tissue. You hope it will respond to that message appropriately. But when stress builds up and you’re not sleeping enough (which is a stressor of its own, which also compounds the effects of whatever chronic stress you’re under), you’re effectively sending your body mixed messages, telling it that it should both tear itself down and build itself up.

The end result is something similar to the multitasking scenario from earlier. It doesn’t do a very good job getting bigger and stronger, and the training stress makes you less able to cope with the stressors of day-to-day life and lack of sleep until eventually your body is so worn down that you completely burn out, often resulting in some sort of sickness or infection; when your body’s ability to respond to threats is overwhelmed, bacteria or viruses that would usually be stopped cold by your immune system are able to multiply enough that you wind up sick with a cold, flu, or respiratory infection.

This literally keeps happening to me. I keep getting flues and infections. I have a respiratory infection and fever right now actually.

I was at the gym today, warming up for deadlifts at the end of my workout, as usual. I noticed this skinny beta looking dude walk in, his quads indicated he lifts but his upperbody looked like he was straight outta chemotherapy. Whatever right? So I let it be and went back to deadlifting.
Today was my skill test and I had planned to pull my first 600lbs deadlift, my warm ups were going up relatively fast (for sheiko!), and I felt pretty good. He told me he'll just wait, so I bit my tongue and let him continue to circle the platform.
Soon came my 600lbs pull, (bare in mind I'm 180lbs soaking wet, so this is quite an accomplishment for me). At this point the dude stood in place and begun watching, whatever, nothing unusual right?
Well I get hyped up, throw on my belt and a little chalk and I pull. Thank Mr Boris because the weight fucking fleeeew. I let the bar fall down from the knee and made very little noise doing so.
This however seemed to upset my little orbiter, he made a sly remark about how "sumo is easy and I hardly lifted moved the bar". I literally said " well, your turn to deadlift now, perhaps you should give sumo a go if you'd like to move some heavy weights". He fucking chimped out and me so I walked away.

Then guess what... I saw him cat back pull 160kg for 5 reps! FIVE REPS. And that was it! He did one set of FIVE REPS AT 160KG.

Quality of make, and legality. When the IPF charges manufacturers their dues to retain legality in the IPF, the manufacturer has to pass that cost onto us, the consumer.

Titan and Inzer Belts are not the same, but both make a fine belt. The more expensive belts you're talking about are probably Wahlanders or SBDs. Both are fine belts, but overpriced imho.

I don't think any belts other than Titan, Inzer, SBD, or Wahlander are worth buying if you're serious about the sport of powerlifting.

If you're not planning on competing, pretty much any leather, non-tapered belt will do.

Don't listen to this fool. BestBelts are IPF approved (last I looked, the IPF is a clown show), and as good as any other belt.

Really, any belt that's 3-4 inches "tall" (torso-lets and girls might prefer a 3'' belt), 10-13mm thick (based on preference mostly), and not tapered like a complete piece of shit is a perfectly fine belt. The Rogue Echo cheapo belt is a fine belt if you don't care that Rogue didn't give the IPF enough of a blowjob to get it on the white list.

Im running jr for bench and squats, i do them both on the same day and i haven't been doing any other exercises besides pull-ups occasionally. I've never run smolov but I'd imagine itd be more taxing that running two jr cycles at the same time, but it is possible if you plan your rest days accordingly and eat at a signifigant surplus with impeccable meal timing and avoid doing deadlifts or any extra assistant work.
