What's your age, height and starting weight? I wasn't actually serious that you should only eat 1,300 calories. However, if you're just starting then you should know your weight loss rate won't stay that rapid for long.

That being said I started cutting by limiting myself to 2,000 calories. Now I'll typically eat 1,000 to 1,500 tops and I am still losing pretty fast 3 months in.

You won't gain much/any muscle while cutting. But lifting and eating protein will help you maintain what muscle you have instead of burning it away with your fat. So you're only hindering your progress in the sense that you're not burning as much muscle with your fat. This would just mean more work for you later on when bulking/lifting up from skinnyfat mode.

So really it's a lesser of two evils if you want to look at it that way. Also, it will keep you from becoming a super weakling in the meantime.

You shouldn't view this as a temporary diet but rather as your new lifestyle. cooking is not hard, a lot of easy stuff like chicken, oats, scrambled eggs and steamed veggies that fill you up. Exercising will definitely help. Even just doing 10,000 steps a day walking will do some good. But really the most important thing is what you eat so keeping down to 1,800 should still do you a lot of good.

When I first started and was limiting myself to 2,000 I could hardly do it and some days went over by 100-200. So you starting at 1,800 is pretty impressive. My issue was cutting out the soda. Once I started drinking nothing but water dieting became insanely easier.

What kind of dumb fuck mindset do you have? Not to be rude but you're going to reach your goal weight and bounce right back within a year, probably half a year. I've seen multiple people I know do this.

New to /fit/ already feel welcomed in /fat/

I'm 290 pounds and don't know what to do with my /fat/ness.

Over the past year:
>I drink water and tea, sometimes coffee.
>I eat a lot more vegetables and foods that substitute something with vegetables.
>Cut back on meat, a lot.
>I work in a hospital repairing medical equipment, so I walk a decent amount (8000-11000 steps) to grab said broken stuff, but some days I do just park my ass at my cube.
>I average a pulse of 68-71 resting, SpO2 is good, bp at 129- 130 over 80-85.
>Get 5 maybe 6 hours sleep on work days.

I feel like I've started the transition by consuming more vegitation, but I feel there's one thing holding me back big time.

You need to push your diaphragm harder. That feeling that your throat is getting thicker is actually your body thinking it's suffocating from lack of oxygen which is exacerbated by throat muscles becoming more sensitive to the cold air that brought in when you start breathing with your mouth.

I have the same problem as you. The way I overcome it is by doing deep breathing exercises as you ramp up the intensity. Make sure you really feel that tightness in your chest and try to take in more each time. You can blow it out your mouth but avoid breathing in through your mouth at all costs, if you do this consistently you will notice that it actually does get easier.

Another more advanced technique is inducing it through warmup and then doing cardio during your refractory period.

It happened, brehs. I usually dress like crap because I'm a poor college kid and I don't want take out loans. Thankfully, a friend pushed me to buy some cheap clothes off of amazon. They fit super well and it doesn't look like I'm wearing a tarp! Beyond that, I've also put on a lot of muscle and lost a bit of fat. I also got a hair cut because mama's strongest baby boy ain't a hippy.

I went to a meeting with this group I've worked with for years and people kept telling me how good I look. It was really nice. Even the shitty femenist was nice!

I will be staying at a las vegas casino due to me helping my dad for work. During this time I will not have access to a gym, healthy foods (they have a food court including a place called fat burger, subway, some Chinese food, a Mexican restaurant, starbucks, and a place called "pizza forte".

Should I be just calorie counting or?

Also I do intend to get some Cajin food and some Italian food while I am there.

Also for the record depakote is a bitch and I hate that I have to battle for a good body.

Well also i addition I'll be taking care of the dog while my dad is away so even if they do have one (they don't have a hot tub so I doubt it) I probably will only be able to work out late at night (if they have one and its open).

out of those choices from the food court I'd try to stick to subway for the trip. You can get a ham or turkey sub with no cheese and whatever veggies you want and mustard or vinegar for 280-290 cals for half.

I started a little something that might help me lose weight. Every time I get frustrated with a video game (MOBAs usually) or bored I do a set of 6 to 12 jumping jacks, which at 300 lbs really get my breathing and blood going. Did 4 sets already and it's 10 minutes to 4 pm, I expect to get to at least 10 sets by 10 pm. Will increase the amount per set steadily.

Anyone with experience here? Are jumping jacks decent cardio for when you are unable to go jogging? Anything else I could do to mix it up? Sit ups would work, can't do push ups, too weak. Don't have dumbbells yet unfortunately.
