I drank a whole 2 liter of diet coke last night, way too late and I think it fucked with my weigh in because the scale says I gained a lb this morning after only eating 1800 calories yesterday.

I know that diet soda has zero calories, but I still feel like I've been using it as a crutch. I've been using it to satisfy my sweet tooth/and give caffeine and I need to stop satisfying that urge. That's why I'm swearing off of diet soda starting today. I typically drink 3 or 4 20 oz bottles of diet soda a day at work and starting today it's going to be zero.

In another thread here someone linked to a study showing an 800 calorie diet for 9 weeks essentially eliminated insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes patients.

Has anyone tried very low calorie diets here? Do you have any advice or recommendations? My doctor is skeptical, he said I could try 1,200 but he felt 800 was too low.

I've lost 20 pounds, I don't need this to lose weight. But as a treatment for diabetes, I'm interested.

I have a serious problem. I've been eating at a deficit since the end of January and I've lost about 30lbs. My goal is to lose five to fifteen more. I lift and do 30 minutes of cardio three times a week. I loathe skipping workouts. Before I buckled down and started keeping track of what I eat I never, ever binge ate. I mean, I could put away twice my TDEE no problem but I never stuffed myself to the point of physical pain like I've recently started doing. The first time, I went to a party at a friend's and got drunk and ate a fuckton of chips, dip, fruit salad, etc then I waddled home and went right back to eating at a deficit. Then it happened again a few weeks later: got drunk, ate an entire bag of chips plus a jar of salsa. I ended up getting sick and vomiting it up the next morning. I'm home from college now and don't get drunk but I still binge eat. I skipped breakfast and lunch with plans to go to a birthday party (there was no alcohol). When I got there I must have eaten an entire chicken's worth of wings, a cup of artichoke dip, so many chips and desserts... I left early because sitting and standing were so incredibly uncomfortable from my stomach being distended I had to go home and lay down. I feel like I'm losing control of my life and my ability to eat "normally." I try to keep my calories at or below maintenance every day but of course eating to the point of physical illness is the opposite of healthy. Should I see a psychiatrist? Does anyone know of any books or websites that address my problem without just saying lmao eat what you want?

If you cut too much your body will lose muscle, you'll eventually binge and stop dieting. Even if you had insane will power you will look like shit at the end because of all of the excess skin.

I've been really working on recognizing whether I'm hungry or bored and stopping myself when I can feel a binge coming on but sometimes it feels unstoppable, like an itch I can't scratch or like I'm being compelled by a source outside of me. Heres what you do; add some healthy wholemeal carbs in your diet; don't eat sugar/soft drinks/drink alcohol.

Don't reduce your daily calorie maintainence too much; it's gotta be a life style change and not a diet. A diet means you're needing to use will power; will power is expendable. Just cut out bad foods and keep your calories 200 - 300calories below maintainence; if your maintainence is 2500 then eat 2200 a day.


Weight loss is a slow process; if you're losing more than 1lb a week then you're having to work and use effort. I lost 40lbs and kept it off by cutting out sugar, alcohol, fatty foods.

I eat wholemeal carbs; decent protein; the occasional burger from mcdonalds and sometimes a burger and fries. If I get a drink I get a diet coke; and I always count my calories everyday.

It's gotta be a realistic weight loss method; something you can stick to and still live with.


Today I'm at work and I've eaten wholemeal toast with fat free cottage cheese for breakfast; some stewed mincemeat and wholemeal bread; a low fat chicken jalfrezi ready meal with broccoli; a Tuna sandwich.


I eat little and often. 200 - 400calorie meals; and I drink lots of water; probably 600 - 800ml an hour. I'll be eating about 2300 calories today but then I've 2 hours of Muay Thai training tonight I'll be burning off a fuck ton.

How long have you been cutting and have you been taking multi vitamins? You might be deficient somewhere and your body could be desperately looking for it by bingeing. But I would eat at maintenance for at least a week or so longer. Try filling up with healthy foods though, give yourself a wide variety of different veggies and fruit and try cooking new recipes. Weight loss isn't a race, and a couple set backs aren't the end of the world. Forgive yourself for the binges and figure out why you're so attached to food, whether it be a coping mechanism or something else.

I got into cooking. Made my momma a semi healthy whole wheat/oatmeal banana bread. She won't buy a cake this week if she has that. I can actually fit the calories a slice of that sweet bread with my coffee in the morning.

I also have made coffee cake using a healthier oat/nut streusel topping and again whole wheat plus greek yogurt in the cake. Came out great. Strawberry rhubarb custard pie with under 170 calories per slice.

My warning to you /fat/s is to just remember that if your numbers are progressing on your lifts, if your weight is going down, if you feel better and feel stronger, can run faster make sure you soak all of that in as a good measure. You won't see the same changes as other people, not on the same level but you are progressing and getting better. Push through. Persevere and don't let your former self get the better of you.

the amount of weight you loose is largely dependent on how much effort you put in and how well you learn how to deal with your diet. should you decide to loose weight u need to lift or do bodyweight at the very least. in the beginning you will loose a great amount then you will need to fight for each additional lbs you loose.

I can give banana bread real quick
>3/4 stick of browned butter (not necessary to be browned but gives a lot of flavor and you need it melted anyway)
>1/2 cup brown sugar
>1/2 cup honey
>1 tsp vanilla extract
>2 eggs
>2 cups blended banana
>1 teaspoon cinnamon
>pinch of nutmeg
>1 tsp baking powder
>1 tsp baking soda
>1 cup white whole wheat pastry flour (or whatever flour, that's just the best whole wheat I've found)
>1 cup of rolled oats

Mix your sugar, honey, butter and vanilla first till it over all gets a bit lighter and little fluff. Add banana and eggs. In that pan you melted/browned your butter put in your oats on high heat and just kinda toast them for a few minutes. Add all that rest of the dry ingredients along with oats and mix just till you see no more dry flour. Pour into a nonstick sprayed loaf pan and let that sit while you preheat your over to 325. I know most recipes say to preheat first but nah with whole wheat I've found if you let your batter sit for 10 minutes before putting in the over it'll come out better. Probably some gluten brake down science shit idk. So once up to temp and batter sat out for 10 minutes put it oven for 45-50 minutes.

It's hardly the healthiest possible cake. I know of a chocolate/peanut butter zuchinni fudge brownie that you can add chocolate whey to and meat your macros on while feeling indulgent. But this is a good sweet bread for say a diabetic mom that is gonna eat some damn sweet this week so at least you can manage her with this. Plus it really is damn good toasted with some morning coffee.

Burrito casserole

1 tablespoon olive oil
Sprinkle of dried peppers
Sprinkle of paprika
1 teaspoon of chili powder
1 can of black beans
1 cup of brown rice
3 cups spinach
1 onion
1.5 tomatoes
1 tablespoon cilantro
1/2 cup corn
1/2 cup mozzarella
1/2 cup cheddar
1 jalepeno
2 cloves garlic


Cook all the veggies cut up in a pan, adding the spinach last, once the spinach has wilted, your mixture is down.

In a casserole dish, add rice with water to cook it and add the beans on top. Pour on your vegetable mixture and cover, cook at 400 for 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked.

Add cheese, if desired, and cook until it's melted, then serve.

There's a few things I would do different next time, I would add more spinach and jalepeno, and marinate the chicken, it was good, but not spicy enough for my tastes.

One serving, about 3/4 of a regular size bowl, is approx. 690cal. Filling as hell and super satisfying though, keeps you from binging on garbage.

Dear father, forgive me for I have sinned. It has been a week since my last confession.

This weekend I went on a road trip with my boyfriend and I sinned on all three days.

On friday we had Indian food and I ate somasas not knowing they were 300 calories each.

On saturday we stopped at a 7 eleven to eat and my boyfriend picked out burritos and takis. The takis were too spicy for my boyfriend so I ate the whole bag and the burrito which my boyfriend said was 350 had two servings in it so it was really 700 calories.

On sunday we stopped for a hamburger and instead of just having a normal burger no cheese I got a baby back rib burger. I only ate half the bun and half the fries but still I am sorry father I could not control myself.

I have come home and I find myself somehow 1 pound under what I left at. I also must confess I had bareback anal sex with my boyfriend... after he ate a 7 eleven burrito. Please forgive me father.

Idk I sub healthy bullshit all the time and lost weight. I just like to cook and sometimes it's like "fuck I want a pie". So I cook a pie but just am more aware of it. So say make a rhubarb/strawberry custard tart with a protein pie crust. Use some vanilla whey to thicken up an egg heavy custard. Bake all over that fresh fruit. Shit ends up being easily within my nutrient/calorie needs and tasting great and I'm satiated more than half some store bought pie.

I've made the cauliflower pizza crust and it's pretty decent I just don't care for pizza. But if I want some I'll make that over ordering because I can enjoy all of that and have more control over it than eating one slice of some other pizza and worrying if pizza hut is even accurate on how many calories in a slice.

is what I use for the filling except with substitutions

Like replace flour with a scoop of vanilla iso whey. 1/2 cup of sugar instead of 1 1/2 and round off 1/4 cup of milk and use 4 eggs. Plus I add cinnamon and lemon juice and 1 tsp vanilla. And I don't dot with butter cause that's just some unnecessary shit.

Most cake/baking recipes you can half or third the sugar and butter they use and get about the same results if you just put in a little more milk or something else to give it the volume.

Macros are gonna depend on you and what brand of shit you got.

Except add an extra egg per scoop of chocolate whey to absorb it. And I use peanut butter instead of almond cause it's cheaper and more available. Plus add walnuts instead of chocolate chips since I felt the extra choco whey gave it enough chocolate flavor. But it's easily one of the better chocolate protein brownies given the zucchini keeps it from getting too dense/hard

fuck man it sounds bomb, writing it down. Only thing is, I've never tried cooking with zucchini before based on the fact I disliked it's taste in the past. Does the zucchini taste ever so slightly show up or is it just filler for consistency and volume?
Is there an alternative to it? I might be asking too much, I'll do some googling to look for myself but I welcome your advice.
Also I suppose you use the chocolate whey to replace the cocoa powder in the recipe, right? I'm thinking I could mix a bit of both for that extra deep rich cocoa flavor.

Honestly I don't taste the zucchini nor peanut butter whenever I make this and neither does anyone else I've had try it. Zucchini is used in a lot of cakes because it's so damn bland and just kinda fiber and water when baked. (Weird tidbit but the only reason zucchini cakes were created was because zucchini grows like a weed and they'd have so much of it come harvest that cooks just threw that shit in everything just to get rid of it and save themselves some flour.)

And no don't replace the cocoa powder with chocolate. You add your coco whey on top of what the original recipe calls for but cocoa powder isn't that bad in calories and you get a lot of flavor. Chocolate overpowers just about everything in the recipe.

There's other flourless chocolate cakes recipes but ime I like adding the zucchini cause chocolate can be a finicky fuck and end up either too wet like a ganache that I don't like or with just the whey powder and peanut butter combo it ends up too dense. I feel like this is a good moist yet not just falling apart.

If you really don't like zucchini maybe try more apple sauce substitute and an extra egg.

hope you are still here. i stared with ditching sugary drinks and eating 3 normal meals, that got me to 200ish. then i brought in chicken and greek yogurt to help get protein with low calories. that got me to 190ish. now ive added in HIIT, 10 min total, 1 min 4.0mph, 1 min 7-9 mph, back to 4.0, as well as only 2 meals a day. Thats gotten me to 176. ive been lifting throughout. started with basic squats, bench, deadlift. now i do a Push/Pull/Leg in three day cycles continuously each week. Push is chest alternate with OHP then back then leg day is hamstrings alternate with quads.
