Guys, I've decided to make the /fat/ weight loss competition a little more complicated because it is fun for me to do dumb shit and ramp things up.

Pic related is a tournament bracket. On the left side I have people from 6'5" to 5'7", effectively the 'lanklet bracket.'

On the right i have the 'manlet bracket.' From 5'7" (Sorry, a lot of you were of similar height) to 5'0"

We are now in direct competition with each other. Next week whomever loses the most weight on these match-ups moves to the next round.

For instance, GetSirius and Spuds are directly competing for the next bracket in the tournament. If Sirius loses 4 lbs and Spuds loses 4.1 lbs, Spuds will move to the next round.

We'll do this over 4 weeks and then, for the Grand Prize Winner, we'll have a 5-way battle royale.

The most weight lost in that battle royale will win this first tournament for the /fat/ contest and will actually get something out of it (besides self respect.)

If anyone decides to drop out, their competitor will move to the next round automatically. If both of you drop out... I dunno, but I'm hoping this is a motivator to actually participate. I will make it work any way about it.

/fat/ contestants, please find your names and be aware of the shit hitting the fan on Friday.

Rye bread has good amount of fiber, is slow to digest and keeps you full for decent time without causing huge spikes in insuline. Plus rye has good amount of different micronutrients. 4 pieces a day (depending on the size) can be a bit too much for his calorie intake, tho. Assuming he meant 100% extraction rye bread. The bad side is that it can't be fully digested and will cause flatulation, and ofc that it is mostly starch.

I don't meant that rye bread is miracle food or anything, but if he had to choose a piece of bread to go with his lunch, then rye bread is not the worst candidate.

Eventually, but the speed depends on whenever it is just fat over chest, or overgrown breast tissue. Having large amount of bodyfat can cause hormonal issues which encourage breast tissue to grow. Having less bodyfat will inhibit the growth and eventually cause the breast tissue to disappear, but this will take far longer (years) compared to just fat burning away.

With a simple cals in / cals out explanation, no. But your body isn't a combustion engine. Sugar causes your body to release insulin, which quickly stores all of it as starches, which then gets turned into fat. This is why you feel lethargic after eating sugar, because your blood sugar has gone down. The implication is that your body is using less energy, so of course your weight loss will be slower. Fat, on the other hand, stays in your blood longer, so you get a nice, slow burn. This is better for cravings, as well as efficiently using energy.
For all you memers, this is a simplified explanation, but still useful.

Green tea is a great alternative to coffee. It has less caffeine so you might not get the same jitters. I'm sensitive to caffeine, too, so I can't drink coffee for the same reasons. Green tea reduces risk of cardiovascular disease, reduces risk of strokes, lowers cholesterol, improves brain functions, is an appetite suppressant, etc. A few studies have linked it to weight loss, but the effects are actually negligible in this department.

The only downside is that you have to drink 4-5 cups of tea a day to get the full effects of it. If you do it all in one sitting, the caffeine will add up and you'll get the same reaction as you do with coffee. You'd have to space out your cups to get the full benefits.

I cold brew my green tea so that I get the benefits without the jitters, since cold brewed tea is less bitter and has less caffeine. I put one tablespoon of tea leaves (or one tea bag) for each cup of water (8 oz) and let the brew sit overnight (6-12 hours). I've heard that you should add more or less tea for each cup of water from varying sources, but this method works just fine for me.

For hot tea: follow the directions on the package - my experience is that the people generally dislike tea also leave their teabag in too long. Be aware that if you over-steep your hot tea, it will be more bitter and contain more caffeine. Herbal teas are generally fine with over-steeping since they don't contain caffeine.

Can anyone prove to me that keto isn't a meme?

I understand that you lose a ton of water weight, so how do you know how much fat you're actually losing? And if you lose 15 pounds of water weight on keto, aren't you just gonna gain 15 pounds of water weight when you stop doing keto?

Keto is like any diet, if you do it right, you'll be successful.

Keto isn't the magic most people sell it as. If you don't eat at a deficit, you won't lose weight. Keto is going to be "easier" for some people because fat tastes good, but then again, so do carbs.

You won't actually lose that much water weight if you get adequate salt.

Keto is good for a lot of people because it's so restrictive. You can't go over 20g carbs, so you have to look at everything you're eating to see if it has extra carbs. Things you wouldn't think twice about like Ketchup, Barbeque Sauce, even a lot of Bacon, actually has a shitload of sugar added.

That's part of why Keto is good. I think you're best diets are going to be high carb low fat moderate protein, or low carb high fat moderate protein.

Basically the main problem is when carbs AND fat gets too high. They just don't play nice together. It's part of why you see so many fat girls who are vegetarians, meanwhile, they're eating Chicken Alfredo for every fucking meal.

Look no one else can make you accept your own body and its flaws.

Don't give up before you even start though. Once you start losing weight you'll actually start caring about other things and a couple stretch marks here and there won't compare to how freeing it is simply being thinner and how amazing it feels to do stuff your weight was hindering you from doing before.
