>be me >go to gym >decide i am going to try squatting first >can only do the 45 pound bar >too embarrassed to continue >decide i will try out bench next >can only do the 15 pound bar >too embarrassed to continue >decide i will try out deadlifting next >area looks open, i walk up >a wild bodybuilder appears >he says that he is using the station now, but will be done in like 5 minutes >i leave to the sound of him deadlifting 5 plate >go to hallway and stare at the wall >a wild bodybuilder appears >tells me he is done deadlifting, and asks if i want to do some >i say 'no' >continue staring at wall
i do not know if i am going to make it socially lads. but i will make it physically, i bought a power rack and am saving up for a bench, bar, and plates.
You should have finished your sets with the bar. Your next session you would have added some plates. Your next session you would have added some more plates.
You would have felt proud that you're no longer only working the bar, which in turn, would have cured your social anxiety. I feel you though. Build your muscle with that home gym shit you've got coming in(alternatively you could've done what bodyweight brah mentioned), then head back to the gym and you make that bodybuilding motherfucker weight till your done. No puno.
>>35983581 Yup. Deadlifting should almost always be higher than benchpress. My bench is higher, but only because i didn't have access to a rack for my first year of lifting. Luckily, my body puts on fat in my legs naturally so i don't look too top heavy.
>>35983006 If you get embarrassed by being weak in front of other people you should just quit there. Most of the time people in the gym have the motivation and have also started from somewhere and understand. They might even hook you up with some technique advice.
If it helps get some own gym buddies from school/work/bar/whatever. Im personally weak as shit. The guys i go with can lift over 200 lbs while im hanging in around 70 lbs. Guess what, i dont care because im there for the gains. They give me good advice on everything and we have a good routine. I used to go alone for a while and didnt feel embarrassed even back then. (I only started going seriously recently, it's basically a lifestyle now)
>>35983881 if you're serious than you're t-rex as fuck (your deadlift and squat are much farther than your bench and OHP). if you're just lifting for e-stats or are doing some sort of permabulk then do whatever. if you want to look somewhat balanced then lower the frequency on the squats and deads, add some supplementary exercise and possibly fix your form
My squat has been awful. I can just barely do 100 for reps now. Realized that after sitting on my ass my whole life my legs are weak as shit (posterior chain) Now I get to spend the next few weeks-months training to be able to do one pistol squat so I can train to do a proper squat.
>fatty on a perma cut >down to 220 >was benching lmao1pl8, diddylifting 2pl8, ohping 95lbs 5 months ago >nowadays >benching lmao1pl8, diddying lmao 2pl8, ohping 90lbs, albeit for slightly more reps and better form >only significant improvement in lifts have been skwatz
>>35988547 No, you're not going for anything. It's a smith machine, that's like saying "I hit a new squat record on the leg press today". People think a smith machine is like a barbell that's restricted to one path, but it's an understatement. It's NOT ANYTHING. A SQUAT ON THE SMITH MACHINE IS NOT AN ASSISTED SQUAT, IT'S NOT ANYTHING.
>tfw statt lifting >tfw get a personal trainer >tfw pay him half my salary because all i want in life is to make gainz >tfw he has me on machines for the first 3-4 months at the gym >tfw aushwitz mode >tfw the only compound we ever did was bench because i insisted >tfw started benching the bar 4 months after starting to lift >start learning about lifting >realize my trainer is a fucking retard >tfw he pulls the weight up while spotting me on the bench everytime >tfw i barely ever made strength gainz >stop personal training >statt doing compounds on my own >bench 175 >squat 175 >deadlift 185 >leg press 4pl8
I only started deadlifting and squatting this month
>>35989437 Started with 35s on each side of the barbell so 115 to get some form in me. I was wobling like a joke the first time. If you're scared to go up on weight just use the smith machine. Up the weight get comfortable with it then try it freestyle. Thats what im doing senpai
>tfw failed 280 lb deadlift 1x5 and rounded back like a fucking madman on last 2 reps
I feel so bad brehs. I'm getting fat and whenever I miss a rep or form breaks I feel like it is all for nothing. It doesn't help that my face is naturally round so now I look like an otherwordly creature.
>>35988362 I have almost always done chest (bench + accessories) and back (pull ups, rows, etc.) twice a week and my squats and DLs once. And yeah, I am t-rex mode naturally - 26 inch thighs at 5'7", with 15 inch arms and a scrawny chest.
