Can 180g protein/1500 cal daily even be fucking done.
I'm sat with a pen + paper trying to work this shit out.

How do you guys manage tracking all this shit?
I just can't seem to get the protons without overeating.
>>
>>35961473
i hope you like tuna.
>>
>>35961473
>eggs
>chicken breast
>broccoli

Chicken is where it's at proton wise
>>
>>35961473
canned tuna , chicken breast and lentills
>>
How many cans of tuna is it safe to eat a day?

Also 200g of cooked chicken is like 500 calories for 50g protein right?
That's a third of my calories but not a third of my protons.
>>
>>35961473
It's highly unlikely you need 180g
>>
Skyr (type of yogurt) is 65cals per 100g with 11g of protein.

180g protein / 11g protein = 16.5 100g servings.
16.5 x 65 cals = 1079 calories

Are you even trying?
>>
>>35961662

if the dude weighs in the lower-mid 200s and is cutting using LBM as a determinant for proton requirements to not lose muscle given bf% he could very well want 180g
>>
>>35961593
200g of chicken breast is 200kcal and 40g protons.
>>
>>35961663
also quark

18,9g protons per 100kcal

source: says that on the shit I'm eating right now

This.

Enjoy your mercury poisoning, OP.

The 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight is a transparent myth that becomes quite obvious once you notice the heteronomous units of measurement. If there's a rule of thumb, it's closer to 1 gram protein/kilogram of bodyweight, which would mean at 180lbs you would only need about 82 grams of protein, if that.
>>
>>35961473
Eat a lot of greek yogurt.

And pistachios
>>
>>35961473
500 grams of quark is 300 kcal and 60 grams protein, 500 gram chicken breast is about 100 grams protein in barely 500 kcal. But why the fuck are you eating only 1500 kcal per day, are you a small woman?

>>
this is where supplements come in handy

get 100-120 from lean protein, then fill in the rest with protein powder

the '100-120' thing is arbitrary, fyi. you can get as much of your total protein from powder if you want, as long as your micronutrient demands are met (just be sensible and eat some whole foods)
>>
>>35961473
Protein is 4 kcal per gram
180*4= 720
180 grams of protein is less than half of what you are asking so yes it can be done.
>>
>>35961551
Fuck off I have eaten canned tuna 5 days a week for 7 years. Clean bill of health everytime I go to the doc

you should eat more than 1500 calories.
>>
>>35962144

Whatever protein you've ingested that cannot be used for protein synthesis will instead be used for energy. Any energy you do not use will be stored as fat.
>>
>>35961685
Are you stupid? For 1g/lb of lbm he would need to weigh 180 lb. He said he weighs 200lb so he'd be cutting at 1500kcal with 10% bf.

I don't buy it. He's probably at 20-25% bf and only needs 150g.

The real issue is he's cutting at likely a 1000kcal deficit.
>>
>>35962144
>He believes that anyone who eats differently than his shitty diet is wasting money

What part of his diet is shitty though? He is right you know, its also retarded to mix pounds and grams, as such it makes much more sense if its grams with KILOGRAMS, you know, what grams becomes after hitting the 1000 mark? But oh well, can't do shit for you now, you'll just dismiss me as either the guy you replied from or another guy with a "shitty diet" who isn't worth listening to.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24834017

A high-protein diet has positive effects on body composition and protein has a higher termic effect. Reducing nutrition to calories in calories out is retarded.

>>35962583
>What part of his diet is shitty though?
If he's eating less than 1g protein/kg bodyweight he's actively trying to avoid protein assuming he's a somewhat normal weight, or he's a vegetarian. 300g steak has like 60g protein, and that's barely one meal. Chicken is even higher. Milk has 3,5 grams in 100g and one glass is 200g+. I don't even know how someone can hit less than 120g per day unless huge parts of their diet is completely devoid of protein.

>>35962583
>He is right you know, its also retarded to mix pounds and grams
What does that have to do with adequate protein intake? Nothing.

Assuming you weigh 180lbs and are falling for the 1lb protein: 1lb bodyweight meme ratio, 1500kcal is definitely below your basal metabolic weight and probably not a great idea.
>>
>>35962868
1 gram protein*
>>
>>35962640

I weigh 79kg and I am eating a steak and kidney pie right now. Unless you are an elite level athlete, which no one here is, you do not need more than 1g of protein per 1kg of bodyweight. 180g of protein per day, while not impossible to meet, is completely unnecessary and wasteful.
>>
>>35962494
Okay I'm actually slow so can someone explain this theory to me? I see it applied to carbs and fats too. The idea that if you eat too many carbs, fats, or protein, and your body can't utilize it, it'll be stored as fat. How is this possible in a calorie deficit? If I eat 400g of protein (in theory, I wouldn't really do that) and somehow still maintain a calorie deficit, my body can't possibly just convert the excess protein to fat and make me gain fat/weight despite the deficit, can it?

we don't?

well, most people with half a brain don't. We use something called common sense and avoid fast food, candy and liquid sugar. Easy as that

cutting is suffering

but it has to be done, I will be low bodyfat no matter what it takes
>>

Yeah. We're in a stage where literally every large fish species has the collective pollutants of millions of diatoms (tiny oceanic organisms at the lowest end of the food chain). eating fish this day and age is fucking risky dude.
>>
>>35963670
can you remind me how is achieving your goals every single day suffering?

well it's great to see yourself get more and more cut

but eating clean is hard, training is easy
>>

pussy
>>
>>35963758

no, im doing it

but I cant wait to lose the remaining fat and eat at maintenance.
>>
>>35963362

You're forgetting about the energy part. Protein used for energy after the synthesis.

The reason you burn fat is for energy.

So assuming you don't get enough energy from the protein, your TDEE, then you'd burn fat. Which is why caloric deficits work.
>>
>>35961473
>whey
cmon faggot is there really any other solution
4 scoops 100g protein 400-500cal max
then all you need is like 80g and you have a 1000 cal left
>>
>>35963770
use my fitness pal, bro. it will help you eat at your optimal cut, which may be more than you're currently eating, and importantly it will help you be consistent.
>>
is it really that hard? im trying to lose weight and eat, eggs for breakfast, tuna for lunch and broccoli and chicken for dinner. ive done many calculations and i reach around 1500
>>
>>35961972

This. I've been on a PSMF and just decided to go with straight whey. Get the best whey you possibly can - I've found a solid source of organic, grass-fed stuff with little to no heavy minerals.

200 grams protein - 850 calories
1 tablespoon flaxseed oil - 150 calories

Done.

>>35961473

As far as how much protein you need - it depends on how hard you train.

If you're training 3 days a week, and you're relatively new to training (less than 1 year) you can skirt by with .5 grams of protein per pound of LEAN body mass.

If you've been training hard, the soft cap is .87 grams of protein per pound of LEAN body mass.

If you're on steroids, the soft cap is 1.25 grams of protein per pound of LEAN body mass.

The caveat is if you're cutting hard. Which it sounds like you are. The more protein you eat on a hard cut the less muscle mass your body will catabolize for energy. Who'da thunk that protein is the most protein sparring nutrient?
>>
everybody should give My Fitness Pal a try!
>>
Chicken, lentils and other beans, milk, whey protien products, chicken, fish, veggies,... Did I say chicken breast? Say goodbye to grain products and red meat unless it's super lean ground beef or you like cardio to burn your excess.

(I'm hitting over 190g of protien and under 1500cals each day for the last month)
>>
>>35961473
Why would you ever need that much protein in that many calories?
>>
>>35963648
I didn't like MFP. I use excel.
>no ads
>doesn't reload entire page with every action
>easily search past logs for specific nutrient trends
>syncs meal plans as text files in Dropbox for easy mobile access
>automatically updates my calories whenever I input a new value, instead of every 5-10 pounds
>food database that doesn't have a repeated items with incorrect info
It can do everything I used MFP for, but faster, and easier.
>>
>>35964461
how do you access excel's food database?
>>
>>35964461

the mobile app is really good and fast

ads arent even that invasive, I barely notice
>>
>>35964495
You make your own, senpai.
>>
>>35964510
Used that too but not fast on my phone. App was far better than site in some things, but didn't provide all info I wanted. Ability to track nutrients specifically was set to just 5 instead of whatever I want. Adding food wasn't intuitive to me and I always had to search for items in recently added cause it wouldn't categorize them in a logical way.

Maybe it's improved since being bought by underarmor but I'm never going back.
>>
>IsoGold Vanilla Whey Protein
>120 calories per scoop
>27 grams of protein per scoop

Seven scoops per day gives you all the protein you need, plus 660 extra calories to play with.

In other words
