Honestly I'm lifting because I know it's good for you. Because I wanna see what my own muscles look like under this ever decreasing layer of fat. Because it's cool as hell to wake up one day and see new ridges and curves on your body that weren't there before, and that you can flex a muscle and make those shapes move around. What kind of abs do I have? Will they look like zippers? Or regular ones?
It's an adventure. The most interesting and fun one i've ever been on.
A lot of people start lifting weights to indulge the spergy power fantasies that managed to follow them out of high school. Most of those guys give up after hitting their first plateau.
I originally started lifting to get my very own, high-test fuckslab. Holy fuck I was wrong
Now I lift because every day, I get to wake up excited to look and see where my muscles are developing and how much easier it is to lift shit that I thought was heavy. I think the edgiest thing I ever lifted for was to look physically superior to all of my friends. Which, still is a reason I lift.
I usually lift for myself. To feel strong, to feel like a greek god.
But hear me out, when I think I've found a truly genuine woman and she ends up disappointing me, that's when I make the biggest gains.

I started to lift to lose weight and become more attractive. I now lift because I will probably balloon up if I don't, and don't want to have to buy more clothes. I could give very few shits about being attractive now.
I don't even have a goal for lifting. I just want more muscle on my body. I already like how I look for the most part, but I'd like more muscle.
As a rule, I don't enjoy lifting, but hate not lifting far far more - also the feeling of hitting a target is nice.
This is mainly because I can only lift before work and get exhausted. Fuck fatties.

Don't forget, we ARE on 4chan. I've been mocked by neckbeards for lifting because it's a fun hobby. When I posted on /r/fitness (yeah yeah, I know) I got told "you need to fix your priorities. Lifting has to come first." They literally told me to prioritize lifting over my girl, my job and school.
The people here are a bit removed from life. /fit/ is a rehabilitation board. At least we're out there lifting, and trying to improve.
Just wanted to be healthier, ended up loving working out after about 2 months of it.

I lift since its just natural for me. I played sports from when i was 4 until i was 18, once i quit to pursue school i just started lifting not really thinking about making it or anything. I just did my thing for a few years until i joined uni and started taking lifting seriously. I just continue doing it since its kinda fun, blows off stress and i've always been active and had a good looking body, and i feel pretty shitty when i take time off.
I lift because I used to be a sad cunt with schizophrenia, and regular regimented exercise helps with that. Most reasons here are more similar to that, that people used to have shitty mentalities, and working out helped them cope with it.
The few retards who post edgy shit like that are either just memeing, or people who've come in from /r9k/ and don't realise that you don't need to keep up the ridiculous bitterness on every other board.

I lift because it helps with my favorite hobby: Serial killing. Greater strength helps subdue victims more easily. Calisthenics help keep my heart rate down and help with muscle control, which is good if you need to hide and wait for an ambush.The bag work I do helps me deliver more punishing blows, which, coupled with lifting can easily incapacitate the prey. It's also easier to lug bodies and losing those few extra pounds means my ankles don't pop when I'm walking on the balls of my feet. Being fitter just all around helps with the sneaking and the attack.

I originally started lifting with a friend after leaving a gf. That shit only lasted until I had a new, hotter gf. Then she left me and I started again.
Shit don't work that way tho.
I'm in a relationship for three years now and I recently started lifting again to get rid of some nasty heart problems (due to caffeine abuse) and to get in shape to look better on stage and in the circles I fell into. It's just become routine and helps balance out the work-related stress.
Honestly, I think all these MOTIVATION threads and all that try-hard bullshit are seriously damaging for most new lifters. They hype themselves up and inflate their ego, only to be dissapointed when they still can't bench LMAO1PLATE after a month of lifting. And so they stop, and turn to all that "facial aesthetics only matter/big dick only matters/social skills/whatever other excuse that is out of my control only matters".
We're basically nerds and losers like from every other board, except some of us look better, are more confident, and have friends and get girls and whatnot, we all know the type of people that go on 4chan though, that's all I should need to say
