Yes, it's actually beter to train them twice a week. Perhaps even three times a week if you're a beginner and recovery quick enough.

Recovery time is not to let your muscles recover, but your central nervous system. Your muscle will be recovered in 24 hours, but depending on how strenuous you train your CNS will have a different recovery rate. The first few weeks you won't notice a difference, but over time you'll stall and even go down in what you can lift. I do a 3 day split twice a week, but I do take aan extra day off every other week. You'll be fine if you're only training 4 days a week

This is solved by not going balls to the walls every workout. Of you mix lighter workouts with heavier ones training every day is feasible even for natties.
