OP again, if it's any consolation, real silence isn't a thing the brain can percieve, it's always a construction (as in all noise is faded out mentally). In absolute complete silence, anyone's brain starts inducing artifical noise.

How severe is it for you OP?

I have it but I can go months without remembering it until I see a thread like this, so I guess my case is very mild.

Only above a certain SPL, i.e. 100dB for more than an hour.

You can listen to white noise all day at an appropriate level, if you want.
