You're compounds are solid which generally means you're moving good weight in your workouts. As long as you're making progress on compounds then yes. What works for you might not work for others. If you lift more than your "1 muscle group a week" friends, then fuck them. If your volume is hindering your progress, then change your routine.
He's not making claims to boast. If he's lying and his routine is doing jack shit for him, he's only fucking himself over. It's not like he's trying to call people out on their lifts on an anonymous message board without posting pics and his own, you know, like you are.
7/10 move traps to back day, shoulders to chest/tri day. Now you have a 3-day split that you can continue for the rest of your life. preferably work 5-6 days in a row and then 1 rest day.
