Both compound and isolation exercises can be beneficial for looking good and becoming strong
Acceptable isolations list by me:
Lying triceps extensions
Core work- weighted crunches, hypertensions, etc
Leg Curls or GHRs
Lateral and front raises - I superset these
Isolations are part of any good advanced novice/intermediate/advanced lifters routine but should be at the end of the workout and only 1 or two of them per workout

Basically same form as lateral raises except you use cables to pull down instead of up. Can do straight arm or bent at 90 if you can use MMC to not use biceps.
