You're right bro. Keep doing cardio and I'll continue lifting. I know that'll give you more benefits, but I'm addicted to doing shitty things.

Why not both?

Uh, I hate to burst your bubble OP, but real *athletes* do both. I road race and while I'm on my bike all year around, I'm also in the gym 3 days a week in the Fall through early Winter building back up from a long race season. Power athletes in competitive team sports like football, basketball, and even baseball also spend time in the gym as well as doing some endurance work, as required for their particular sport. Even if you're just an Average Joe and want to be in better-than-average condition, you both lift weights and do endurance work of some sort (run, bike, swim, etc). Sorry, but while I agree with your viewpoint in part, you're being a little too narrow to be 100% correct.

Being an endurance athlete myself, I can tell you there is such a thing as 'muscular endurance'; it's basically encouraging your body to produce more mitochondria in your muscle cells, which in short, convert bodyfat into ATP, whcih your muscle fibers use as fuel for contractions, and there are specific ways you have to go about getting it. One way, in the gym, is low resistance and high reps. You could go 30 or more reps per set. Another way is some endurance-based activity where you're operating at lactate threshold for long periods of time at a slow contraction rate (like a cadence of 70-80rpm on a bike, for instance). If it's arm muscles that need to build muscular endurance then you pretty much end up doing it in the gym by lifting, I'd think. I don't need muscular endurance for my arms so I'm only guessing. Most of /fit/ doesn't really care about muscular endurance, they care about training for size, so it's high resistance and low reps per set. There's plenty more on this subject but if you're interested you'll need to go looking for it yourself, it's too much to post here.

i bos for arm endurance mainly, in my cirucit work outs i incorporate alot of stress exercises such as arm stretch with wieghts and such.
as for low cadence... i do a LSD run LONG SLOW RUN, i would imagine the benfits would be the same. my problem is keeping my pace at the appropriate level... i tend to want to run fast...
