What is so special about protein that makes it build muscles? Why can't I just bulk on carbs?

assuming you're being serious, muscle is made out of protein. Protein is essentially a long chain of molecules called amino acids. When your body consumes a protein, it breaks it down into amino acids and then builds the amino acids in order to make the exact kind of protein it needs. Carbohydrates simply don't have what is needed to build muscle.

Where are you being educated and when do you graduate op?
>>

because muscle fibers are composed of actin, myosin, and titin, which are each composed of protein, and your body can't turn carbs into protein
>>
this is /fit/, not /sci/

all you need to know is that you need protein, who cares about the chemical reason

But why?

Why are muscles composed of protein? Shit, just about everything in your body is composed of protein. It's a very diverse molecule, capable of much more than fat or carbs. Why? Because of it's structure. Any more complicated an explanation than that and you should take it to /sci/ or /his/ depending on what kind of discussion you're after.

What do you mean "why"? The body can't turn carbs into amino acids. Mostly because carbs don't even have nitrogen.

no nitrogen

It comes down to their biological structure.
