I was eating boiled chicken and brocoli the other day and a guy comes in and asks why I always eat bland food.
I look him dead in the eyes and say "everything I eat tastes bland anyway"
If you follow the values of Stoicism, motivation threads will be useless to you
if socrates wasn't such a fucking prick to almost everyone he would have lived much longer, the jury didn't even sentence him to death; it was the people of athens, for "corrupting the youth"
plato is also pretty inspirational, dude was so jacked that his nickname came from the word platon (broad (shoulders))
I wonder how must have felt being alive in their time. All they did was study, getting jacked as fuck by wrestling and mire each other half-naked (some even got into relationships with each other, n-no homo)
>not the most based man of Athens in a city of intellectual plebs
Just reading into Greek philosophical works but Socrates seems truly a desirous man. I don't know what his views were that caused the Athenians to sentence him to death but he had a chance to escape and didn't, followed his virtues to the end, didn't fear death. Plato also respected Socrates. Sounds based as fuck.
>tfw no based philosopher mentor to pull you away from lesser desires
I ran a 4k this morning and did a lot better than I usually do by giving myself a speech in my head during the run. I found it pretty helpful, I'd suggest it to any of you guys while you're racing or competing for something.
I told myself that I trained harder than everyone else here. I cared more. I deserved the win more. I asked myself what would my mom think if she knew I didn't give it my best shot (a phrase that my family has said for a couple generations now)? And then I ended up finishing in the top half of the runners. And two weeks from now at the first cross country meet of the season I'm gonna finish in the top fourth of runners.
A lot of you probably don't care but I wanted to tell you guys who are looking for motivation, because the best motivation comes from yourself. If you tell yourself you can do something, allow yourself to have that disconnect from the part of your mind telling you you can't and your body, you'll be successful. You'll hit that PR. You'll lose that last 5, 10, or 15 pounds. And you'll know the best feeling in the world when it finally happens.
Don't have too many /fit/ related ones, but i'll dump some other ones as well when I run dry.
They still exist mate. My Physics/Maths tutorhas 2 degrees (Maths and Physics) a masters (Philosophy) and a doctorate
(Theology) all from Oxford and Cambridge. I feel truly honoured to have met him he is an amazing man. He has the strongest moral compass of any man I've ever met. He is as close to a renaissance man you could ever meet.
>tfw based tutor guiding me in life
I don't have any on this laptop so I'll just post some great quotes
>A rough sea never made a skilled sailor
>I would rather be covered in sweat at the gym than covered in clothes at the beach
>The brave do not live forever, but a coward does not live at all
>There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man: true nobility is being superior to your former self - Ernest Hemingway
> Or is it your reputation that's bothering you? But look at how soon we're all forgotten. The abyss of endless time that swallows it all. - Marcus Aurelius
I kinda know someone like this, always tells me to work hard in life.
I'm reading plato's book right now, the narrator in the book is socrates and it gives you a good idea what kind of person he was. Very intelligent and wise, but always mocking people and using twisted logic to win arguments. He was loved by many, but disliked by more.
He's head of Physics at a public secondary school. Could easily work for a top private school but works at the school he went to, he is effectively allowed to do what he likes as everyone respects him. He would be a brilliant head master but he doesn't want the stress as he has two young kids. Basically the best type of man
"No citizen has a right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training... what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable." - Socrates
nigger please, you will never be on my level. When you put up elite level lifts for your weight, come back and post.
So posting a picture of someone who roids gives you no motivation? Seeing what the body is capable of, even in an enhanced state still doesnt excite you?
I'm natty, but it motivates me everyday to see Golden Age arnold, Zane, and Ronnie. Who the fuck cares. The percentage of people who will ever achieve what they have is so minute even with roids. But in essence, they were great before the roids. It was in who they were. The tren just allowed them to go further. It is their drive, their motivation, their work habits. Fucking getting up at 5am to eat and hit the gym, keep a spectacular meal all day. Look at Kane Sumabat, or Caleb.
Jeff is supposedly natty. You probabaly hated his body anyway though. Gives you no motivation to work hard for a decade to achieve something similar.
Your potential is always there, that's why it is potential. It's just waiting to be drawn out and converted into reality.
Olympic athletes live 2.5 years longer than demographics they came from on average.
Though the bigger bulkier athletes don't tend to live as long (looking at you American Football...)
If you don't think performance athletes (already proven to live longer) do roids (even unintelligently) you're a little bit crazy.
Ok, while you obsessively work out 6 days a week, spend hours a day preparing perfect meals and basically being a complete shut-in who has nothing in his life going for him other than lifting (saddest part is you're not even a competitive athlete) I'll just go ahead and stay out late with my bros having the time of my life, wake up at 11 with a hot girl next to me, keep my workouts short and sweet with basic exercises so that I never have to miss one, and not give 100% in lifting because I spend my energy in more rewarding aspects of life.
Just don't be mad and shitpost feel threads on /fit/ whenever you feel like a fucking failure
yeah. Didn't that shreded as fuck guy get a full body scan at like 6.5 percent? How low can it really get for bb's just before showtime?
>implying im not killing it on keto and loving it
>implying I dont straight murder it on tinder
>implying I have never felt more alive in my entire life
Noted. I'll change my filename.
For some reason I can read it. It's kinda pixelated. Some one have it a bit better.
if anyone has anymore like this one, please add.
>this is fit, you know you like it. full homo. besides, not everything is going to ring or hit home for each person. Just posting some different things from my motivation folder. Add some non-homo things if you think you have it on lock.
That's bullshit though, it's just a childish meme.
There are definitely a number of straight up gay people who post here, but most people are just doing le funny meme gayness and it's really weird.
If you have the intelligence to see that, then you must have the intelligence to realize that motivation is not the same for everyone. The fact that my motivation folder has a lot of shirtless jacked men in it, does not necessarily imply I am gay (hint: I have a larger folder of fit women). I, however, draw psych from seeing what I could mold my body towards. I look at a few of these pictures and quotes before hitting the gym. It just works for me. And the point where I stop caring is in the fact that it does indeed work. No need to hate on people dude. Post what gets you psyched, encourage others, and go lift some heavy ass weight nigga.
last one for now.
We are all gonna make it brahs. Going to go squat Jupiter.
I've seen this page a dozen times and never fully read it because I don't expect to find any wisdom in the words of a guy who draws a comic specifically catering to people who fantasize about not growing up.
Did he ever even expound on this canonically, or did it just get handwaved back into not-even-/ss/ status quo?
Anyone have the long screencap where some guy talkins about what it means to be an alpha male, having a natural 'control' over yourself and your surroundings, using arnold schwarzenneger as an example? Haven't seen that one in forever but I want to read it again.
I gotta read models. Really wish someone had the pic I was talking about too, though. I used to have it and accidentally deleted the entire thing some time ago and it's been years since I last saw it. God damn son
I asked my girlfriend to chalk my favorite motivational message on our apartment ceiling.
It reminds us everyday what we should be focusing on.
We also chalked an Arnold Schwarzenegger quote about our door.
Not necessarily. There will always be fools who just assume that what they read is true, but not everyone will do this.
You're right about the quote though, overdoing is one of the most stupid things you can do at the gym.
I skipped a day of gym last week and spent that 4 hours on teaching my little girl to ride a bike. One of the happiest days of my life.
Being big is great, but never lose sight of what's really important in your life.
why do people say shit like
>in the medical world
while it's not truthful at all and they based these affirmations at absolutely nothing but their distorted view of reality
Can someone post that strip in which a guy does an hell of a journey to rescue the girl he loves but he eventually finds that she's a bitch, that she wasn't kidnapped and that in the end it doesn't matter because he's become a kick ass fighter with an epic body and he starts for the next adventure.
It's called "Hero", if I remember correctly.
thanks for spray painting that fucking retarded shit on my wall asshole, what other hood rat retarded bullshit can you impart on me?
"when a nigga hit you, you gotsta gets up and like fight back n shit"
fucking niggers i swear to god
