Had a folder of tattoo inspo on my other comp that crashed.

Manga tats are usually OK. I'm a big fan of anything that looks like a late 1800's woodcut.

was thinking of getting a simple b/w candle tattoo after watching tarkovsky's nostalghia. i feel like how whoever does the tattoo is a very important factor though. can anybody confirm or have any info?

tattoo noob here, how does one choose an artist? I assume you do consultations and shit before you actually pay them to permanently draw on you, how much consulting really goes on?

look through studios/artists in your area, consider price range and size/placement of piece you want. Make sure to review portfolios of past work, choose an artist whose style you would like permanently etched into your skin.

Bring your ideas+inspo/reference to your consultation, bounce ideas off your artist; they know the technical aspects better than you and will walk you through what is feasible. Respect their professional opinion, don't skimp on a tattoo (shit's permenant).

Commission them to design a piece for you specifically, don't copy a design you found on the internet (unless you want something like flash or simple/small). Save up and contemplate the decision during.

If you're still willing to drop the cash, and are hyped/proud of your design, get it.
