is this a troll thread?
this is IRONIC, right?
all these fits are so bad im dying of laughter
who honestly looks at these and feels inspired?
its not even "minimalist"
keep posting please
Haven't been on /fa/ for awhile, and these are my thoughts exactly.
To pull off being and looking fashionable, let alone "minimalist", you also need to have some degree of culture and sophistication. I feel 99% of /fa/ lack this.
Also, ID on these shoes? Pic unrelated, thought I'd add to thread.
Of course it's basic. Minimalism is the reduction of a design to it's necessary elements. It's core belief is that "less is more". I didn't say it was a good fit, I'm just sick of /fa/ noobs saying "minimalist" when they really mean "achromatic"
>Minimalism is the reduction of a design to it's necessary elements
fuck ur dumb
Most of the fits in this thread fits the bill then, they just use more than 3 pieces each fit. If you reduce FITS to only their necessary elements, what you are left with is what you posted, basic bitch that dresses like shit.
Reducing outfit to only few colors highlights the minimalism of the fit, you have colors that flow together and nothing stands out, you "minimize" anything standing out or making a statement so it's no fucking wonder only fits with one or two colors are mostly posted.
> Pic related is more minimalist than anything you've posted.
Fucking lel, that fit has just as much going on as the post you ciritcised for having 4 layers which is apparently against minimalism.
> If you reduce FITS to only their necessary elements, what you are left with is what you posted, basic bitch that dresses like shit.
Well, when you apply the principles of minimalism to fashion that's what you get. Getting rid of color doesn't automatically make everything minimalist.
No but like I said, it highlights it, foregrounds the shit out of it.
And reducing fits to their basic elements does not mean it's minimalistic fashion, it just means the fit will be boring as shit.
I feel like what you're basically saying here is that you don't like minimalist fashion, but you want to, so you're creating your own definition of it. I'm just telling you what the people who created minimalism defined it as.
I like all types of fashion
I just don't like boring-ass fits, and minimalism does not equal boring. Keep in mind minimalism in fashion is a different thing than what it is in art. If we go by the definition it originally had, the fit you posted is probably the least minimalist in the whole thread and your bitching about colors is complete bullshit, in art the whole movement was about using as little colors as possible among other things.
the thing is, there isn't an official "minimalist" fashion movement. It's just a word people on /fa/ stole from the literature/art/interior design movement and used it as a meme to refer to achromatic fits.
There isn't "official" minimalist movement with art either, there never was minimalist manifesto or philosophy to go by, it's just a "made up" category to put certain type of art in, you can very easily do the same with clothing.
And with clothing when you strip something to it's essentials, you can do so much more than look like a boring basic bitch. You can strip goofninja to be just about drapey clothing and make a minimalist fit with that in mind, if you strip it to all black boring ass jeans with sweat like you seem to suggest, it loses the essential part of what made the fit what it was.
The art comparison is terrible to begin with, I mean granted the viewer is the one who has to interpret the art, but with fashion it's just not the "artists" (designers) who dictate what is what, because anyone can start wearing something and it can become a 'movement' or trend. Minimalist art NEEDS artists that decide actively go for minimalist art, fashion doesn't need minimalist desingers, it just needs people who have vision to take their style that way.
