Is there a name for these styles of shoes, where the leather soles are a tan color but the uppers are different?
I know nothing of /fa/ so I'll use this thread for my question because both of the manufacturers I'm wondering about make shoes.
John Varvatos and Ted baker.
Is the former some wannabe cool shit quality but expensive brand and the latter shit quality but cheap brand?
Pic related, John Varvatos boots.
Custom Nick's boots in Horween Waxed Flesh, via Dustin of Vermilyea Pelle. Gonna order the shit out of these.
>>8643716
Another pair of Nick's. These were made to look like Viberg's popular Service Boot model.

looks like its time for a dump

you are correct
>>8643708
Your analysis seems about right.

These are a pair of White's Semi-dress with an aftermarket Cat's Paw sole and heel. I've been kind of obsessed with Nick's and White's lately.

I-Im going to sell my 3k pc to buy them ;_;
I have to
>>8643753
Those are a pair of White's Semi-dress, with a single leather sole and block heel.
Here's another pair of White's, from their Hathorn (machine stitched rather than handwelted) line. The proportions are kind of wonky, but they're only $300 and the construction is rock-solid. Could be a good option for someone looking for a pair of boots in Red Wing's price range.

Don't do it! Nick's are $200-300 cheaper and at least as high of quality. Viberg is so hyped atm that they can mark up their fashion boots a bunch. People seem to hold them up as a sort of "gold standard", but every brand has its flaws.

>Here's another pair of White's, from their Hathorn (machine stitched rather than handwelted) line.
You mean machine stitched rather than stitchdown. Yes that can be done by hand, but by saying "handwelted" you imply a completely different construction method that White's doesn't use.

Speaking of converse...
Saw these on jackthreads. Thinking of copping, they look pretty gud for converse.
Not sure what I'd wear with them. Thoughts /fa/?

Any advice for really low profile casual shoes/sneakers? Preferably in black
>inb4 Chuck Taylors
I love them but they're still tall
>>8643778
As someone that owns a pair of vi service boots I would have to agree.
Hype is all it's about right now, and it'll get worse. Still, neither nicks nor white's have a single last close to the 2030, and that alone may be something people will pay $250-300++ for (no other viberg last is interesting enough to warrant the price IMO), despite the intermittent stock and the fact that nicks/whites allow for greater customization and custom fitting.
>but every brand has its flaws.
mine certainly do, it's not as if their QC is magically better - it's about the same as any of these smaller operation bootmakers.
>>8643760
one thing, no viberg service boot will look like this ever again, so nobody should get thirsty just looking at this. It was a custom out of a leather they no longer offer nor will offer, and the flattened, beaten toe caps (unstructured) will no longer be made due to QC issues over time, they'll all be rigid, structured toes from now on.
Nice boots, but don't get so caught up on them because a whole bunch of internet forum autists hype that shit they they hype all shit beyond reason.
>>8643979
These would be great but I can only find them on eBay in small sizes (they're women's sneakers)
>>8643981
>and that alone may be something people will pay $250-300++
I mean over the price of whites/nicks 450-500 that is.

do you know of any sneakers that have similar low profiles to the sperry's?
only ones i can think of are onitsuka tigers but those aren't really my style
>>8643950
bump for this. Don't really wanna cop unless I know what to pair em with since indigo/indigo is bad and I've heard blue/black is also bad.
yes, the pattern on the toe is the Bape star logo
>>8643950
i'd pass on these personally. white or even black would be a lot more versatile. if you really want them and have enough plain sneakers then go for these but otherwise nah
Just copped these Allen Edmond MacAlisters on ebay for 45 bucks.
I'm pretty positive I can buff out those minor scuffs on the toe so that isn't a big deal.
D-did I do good, /fa/?
>>8644894
I like them
I copped these yesterday. They are pretty great, would recommend.
>Red Wing Iron Ranger
>>8644903
Yeah, I do too. Copped them for some bizcaz and maybe even a little casual fits as well.
Hoping I sized correctly on them with a C width.
If not, I REALLY don't think I can be upset over 45 dollar allen edmonds, I mean really. I can probably just throw em back up on ebay otherwise and make back most of what I paid.
>>8644917
Nice man. I was gonna cop some iron rangers as my first boot, but after returning the beckman (because they were clown shoes on my hungry skelly body), I went with Katahdins instead just because of the sole. Gotta have my winter boots.
Is that the colorway you ordered?

Copped this the other day. Howd i do fa?
>>8644952
idk, the guy didn't list the brand on his ebay listing. he just said it was old stock with factory defects
>>8643939
My mistake. AFAIK their stitchdown construction is done by hand, though.
>>8644683
White Kloud is insane.
>>8644937
I actually bought it in store, there is a Red Wing only about an hour from where I live. I copped the Amber ones and I am digging the deeper shade of brown for sure. I'm not skelly mode, so they are fitting to my size, 6ft 185lb so yeah man (and I lift, if that's relevant?). I am digging them for sure.
>>8645769
Does anyone know the specific name of that sole unit? It looks like a Vibram 430 minilug, but not quite the same. The lugs look deeper and extend closer to the edge of the sole.
>>8645793
Forgot my picture.
>>8643767
>>8643738
Damn these White's boots are v good
what's the price range? I suspect their Hathorn stuff is cheaper? I've been looking at investing in some boots but don't care at all for RW or Wolves. Fell in love with the Viberg service boots though but they are out of my price range.
Is there anything similar to the 2030 last in the ~300-400 price range?
>>8646081
oh and another thing I'm 6'4 and those White's SD heels seem pretty tall and I don't really want to be even taller
I basically just want a slim minimal 6' boot that can handle a bit of wet weather

Quick question from someone not so familiar with fashion:
I'd like to buy a pair of timberland earthkeeper 6" lace up boots off of amazon. The only color they have in my size is burnished brown. However, the pictures of the boot itself are the simple brown.
What is the difference between burnished brown and brown?
>>8647312
Also they're kind of expensive so if anyone knows any decent moc toe boots for men under 100 let me know.
>>8647312
Burnished has kind of an antiquated look to it.
Love me some dark brown burnished calf.
