Can we do a quick workwear inspo thread
>>
>>8557086
that camo pattern is too fast fashion/high street. kinda ruins everything.

also, what's up with workwear that hasn't seen a day of real work?

i understand it's fashion, but man... go for a hike, row a boat, chop up some firewood... do something in your clothes!

they're work boot heels and equestrian heels

whites and others that make similar loggers boots all use that type of heel standard
to be fair the ones in the pic look custom and slightly elevated beyond white's standard

these are on horseriding boots so that the boot locks into the stirrup
if you don't have a heel you'll slip out
horse riding was the original reason for this type of heel

i have no reason why loggers/firefighters boots have these heels

whites do it because they think that angle is the most comfy angle for working boots so I guess that's why they use it

maybe in the 50's, now they're too poor for the style this thread's about

workers just wear ordinary clothes everyone wears out there

everyone whining about authenticity needs to stop

workwear is a fashion style that draws inspiration from American working men's clothing from many generations ago.

It is not pretending to be a working man. Working men don't actually dress like this anymore, in case you hadn't noticed.

What you faggots are doing is complaining that working clothing isn't a legitimate source of inspiration for real fashion. "They couldn't possibly be doing it to *look good*, could they? They just think it makes them look more rugged and authentic."

All kinds of fashion styles draw inspiration from history. Whatever "heritage" and "workwear" are, they're modern styles that don't look exactly like anything that has come before them. The only thing that is really a given is that they draw heavy inspiration from vintage pieces, they value durability more than most other fashion styles, they tend to like to see labels that say things like "Made in America", "Made in England", "Made in Japan", etc.

Avant-garde fashion reeks of roleplaying, too. But that's OK. We don't need to all dress in normcore or menswear just because we're afraid of someone thinking "How dare they dress like something they're not?"

I hate this shit, its so stupid, its as bad avant grade rick owens' tards. the whole working class early to mid 20 century look. paying for 500 dollars for a real McCoy 1940's repro work jacket or some stupid shit like that. it's pretty ironic to buy clothes that poor people wore 60 years ago for so much money. Shops like unionmade or hickorees, maybe even context clothing. blogs like a countious lean. The gentrification of work clothes!!
>>
>>8560197

>>
>>8560204
I wear American apparel tri blend shirts, alternative apparel shirts, band shirts like psychic tv ect and dickies 874 work pants with dr martens. I actually do manual labor and live in the southwest were fashion is true religion jeans and stupid shit. so have fun playing expensive dress up, I rather remodel my house, or go to concert, collect books or records. expensive clothes make the man!!!
>>
>>8560223
what are you doing on a fashion forum if you hate spending money on clothing?
>>
>>8560232
I've been browsing 4chan since '05, when I got banned from something awful. the only thing I vaguely remember about /fa/ is that weird blonde haired French kid who wears avant garde fashion. I just like browsing /fa/ because its full of losers who complain about girls won't talk to them or stupid shit like that. I do like to browse styleforum because even though I hate work wear I find the quality that goes into the product to be very cool. id actually like to make usa made raw selvedge jeans and make tons of $$$ off it from hipster douchbags.
>>
>>8560242

>spending money on books and records

I'd rather spend money on building cars, going out to eat, etc. Everybody who ever lived is a loser to somebody else. Especially a faggot that complains about a hobby on a board for said hobby
>>

Logger boots have thick heels so you can literally dig in your heels for traction on muddy hills. Linemen and other people who spend a lot of time on ladders tend to prefer taller heels as well for the same reason as with equestrians.
>>
I love the look of carhartt wip. I wish I didn't. streetwear and American workwear don't suit an autistic neet from Manchester.

The jackets from this winter look pretty dope to me.
>>
>>8560433
that jacket is literally the face of a blue collared worker back in the day
>>
>tfw really like workwear

Denim, canvas, boots, flannel, quilted jackets, wool, henleys, twill shirts, occasional camo. The boots will be uglier, the fits will be looser, the camo will be realtree, but otherwise it's mostly the same stuff.
>>
>>8560147
have u been w working men b4
have u been in the yukon during gold mining season
or in bc w loggers
they dress p much like this but w uglier boots and the occasional hi vis vest
working men doesnt mean construction workers in the city
heritage/workwear obv draws from men who worked in/closely with nature
those men still dress the same
u are roleplaying as a working man if u dress like this

sorry mate I've got no idea what you're talking about

even googling this shit I don't see any of what you're talking about

so feel free to post some pics of workers wearing fits like the ones posted in this thread to educate me
>>
I've been a builder's labourer, brickies labourer and worked in the toolroom of a factory and I think it's funny as that you guys wanna imitate that style.
>>
>>8560844
You missed the point utterly. There's no dividing line between the blue collar clothing that fashion workwear is based on, and what a typical worker wears now. It's the same stuff. You can walk into a hardware store in the midwest, maybe visit a tailor (although workwear fits tend towards the loose anyway), and come out with a decent workwear fit.

>>
>>8557086
I hate all these faggots who put on workwear and then take photos in front of ships. Like, you don't fucking work on a ship, you're not a fisherman. They don't wear stupid ass fake work clothes and smoke pipes in corny ass knitted sweaters. This isn't fucking moby dick.
>>
>>8560949
I'm sorry to say I don't live in the midwest so I don't know what you're talking about but where I live I guarantee I've never seen a manual worker who dresses anything like workwear

they wear jeans, yeah. they wear boots, yeah. similarities end there. maybe don't wear workwear if you live in a small town in the midwest

anyone who been hiking at least a couple time would know not to wear cdb's on a hike
also if u lived in a climate like in pic u wouldn't buy db's from a utilitarian standpoint

the sea is wet and windy
which means ur not gonna wear a single layer of thin cotton
>>
>>8560886
not my duty to educate u so this is my last post
actual workwear(not fashoin workwear) hasnt advanced to the point where a guy will wear clothes significantly different from those of his father or grandfather
esp if ur working in nature and need protection from the elements
sure our raincoats arent made of straight rubber anymore but the rest p much stayed the same
duck canvas, denim, wool
real workwear now isnt far from the clothes "workwear" emulates
which is why i see "workwear" like a costume
actual ppl in the world with actual specific jobs wear specific clothing that makes those jobs bearable
when u wear those clothes while not doing those jobs u wear a costume portrayal of those real people
>>
All this reeks of role-play and costume. It isn't any different than the Fedora Lounge but fair play I guess. Life's too short, might as well enjoy it.
