anyways i wanna talk about subcultures and tattoos because someone mentioned tattoos no longer signify subcultures and that is true if you buy our 'post modern' situation, but if you think about it in the 80s and 90s it wasnt like people were constantly looking objectively at themselves saying 'im a post punk, im gonna get a sort of cool tribal/goth thing and its gonna define me as this subculture i belong to. More likely, they didn't think too hard about it because the art came from a place of personal inspiration. Like everything we put a label on it later on so go ahead and get whatever the hell you want, but i personally hate the shameless copying of past generations and would urge you not to get that sailor jerry tattoo or that laurel on your shoulder unless youre gonna think about it as relevant art, for 2014. This is just my opinion and in the end its supposed to be fun and look cool and all that
