what are some /fa/ plants to have in your room
I currently have a jade plant (I always thought of it as a money tree, but whatever) and was looking for similar plants that require little maintenance
>>8553414
i love spiderplants, theyre easy maintenance, and look good even when theyre overgrown. generally plants from hot climates are easier to care for because they require less watering and wont shrivel up after a week. i also love bonsai trees but theyre a pain in the ass.
>>8553449
I've heard that too, apparently they release CO2 at night time (can't be arsed to recall the biology behind this)
I'm sure 2 plants won't kill me
>>8553449
no definitely not, you'd need a forest in your room to produce enough carbon dioxide to suffocate you.
>>8553470
not really, there's probably just problems with ventilation in your room if that's the case. the amount of carbon dioxide they produce is trivial.
This idea started because, long ago, some hospitals removed the floweres from the wards at night. People thought it was due to the plants using up the O2.
Actually it was to stop people knocking them over in the dark.
To a rough aproximation you need a tree to provide enough oxygen for you to breathe. Since the tree is growing you know that it must, on average, take in more CO2 than it produces.
So the night time rate of CO2 production must be smaller than the rate of CO2 absorbtion during the day.
Since that's roughly the amount of CO2 you produce it's fair to say that, even if you had a whole tree in your room it wouldn't produce as much CO2 in the night as you do.
Keep the plants, but put them on sturdy tables soo they don't get knocked over, and sleep well.
Unless they are trifids :-)

Anyone with Pallets as their bed here? I have pic related but you HAVE to use a slatted frame or so I was told otherwise there will be mold beneath it? Problem is it looks worse than a regular bed right now because the frame is ugly as fuck, what do?
>>8553774
Some people done a render of a room that was inspired of this image

>>8554051
bigger blanket that extends over the mattress and covers the frame
>>8554051
I've been thinking about going for pallets under my mattress as well, does it feel any different from a normal bed frame? Other than the height of course
>>8554051
Where are you from? Pallets here look like pic related so mold is not an issue for me...
just take off every other board from your pallets and you're good to go
>tfw no small comfy cluttered flat in an old building in the heart of some European city to play trumpet all day, listen to depressing music at night thinking about the girl you'll never be with and eventually kill yourself in

i've always said chemex's were pretentious. this proves it
>>8554194
if you like hard beds it's the most amazing thing, its probably shit for your back tho because I could imagine that theres a reason for the "bounciness" of the frame but I've been sleeping on it for 1 year now and my back isnt hurting any more than before.
>>8554312

I don't know if chemex is super pretentious, because pour over does provide the best coffee, but kalita, bonmac, hario, etc., provide so much cleaner setups than a chemex... But, having a chemex, mid-brew, in your 'battlestation' photo, is about as try-hard and pretentious as you can get.
Also, who the fuck even brews coffee at their god damn desk?

What are good wall colors for a room with brown Scandinavian furniture? I planned to paint my walls grey with one orange as an accent like two years ago but I only got around to painting one. Looking on it now, I don't think it would look that good.

It's actually a warehouse space in NYC that's available for rent. Bands will often use the space while writing an album.
Reviving this thread because I love interior inspo and I haven't saved any.
>>8556884
>>8555740
Be careful using pallets. Most commercial ones (i.e. what you'd find for free) are treated with lots of chemicals to be more durable. Untreated ones are sold by Ikea/Restoration Hardware or whatever for interior use.
>>8566265
Modern or traditional Scandinavian? There's quite a big difference, so this is important information. Also, what shade of brown?
>>8556884

They're a virtually exact replica (here's an original for reference) and they came from Room & Board.

I failed to notice that you said "vintage". Just go fuck around Bathurst & Queen. Lots of options there. There's also Cornerstone and Smash in the Junction, and some decent Mennonite and reclaimed furniture stuff out at Jones & Queen.

>>8554051
you could honestly just do the slatted frame on the floor tbh. the only reason beds are elevated is to protect from bugs/dust and i'm assuming you're a semi clean person.
most of these are really bad. industrial isn't good design and the rest look pretty stock/commercial.
>>8553052
it's from ikea
everyone has it and it's awesome
>>8579680
Ikea? Rly? Do you know the name or id?

Bedroom.
The rest.
>>8579740
i never liked that ps collection couch, felt there were stronger pieces.
comparatively expensive pillows!
>>8579747
The reasons I got it and like it:
>$900 vs thousands for some shit from DWR.
>Off the ground apart from the legs which I like.
>Fits beige/brown/wood and white color theme.
>Didn't have to go to a different store >_>
>>8579758
oh i'm all for ikea, the ps 2014 collection especially is fantastic if you look at the design compared to their other stuff and i like the concept around mobility.
the brakig collection was even cooler in terms of color/pattern and the two pair nicely, but it was limited run. i feel ikea is slowly updating their scandinavian design to the more current pastelly lightweight cosmopolitan type (compare ps/brakig/HAY to their stockholm collection)
anyways, i'm out. remember y'all to follow design in all categories, not just fashion because the fields cross pollinate a lot :)
Fuck its rly difficult to remember which ones i posted and which i didnt
