I'm not sure if it's your hair specifically, but the way the picture looks. I'm getting this amazon rainforest vibe. Like if I was really tiny and took an adventure in your hair it would be so humid and treacherous to traverse. There are a bunch of small wispy hairs doing their own thing instead of being a part of multiple hairs forming a nice thick curl. That sweat/water on your forehead isn't helping but I realize that has nothing to do with your hair. this. I've noticed that when starting at a buzz cut length, if you let it grow out, your sides get too long for the top. So just keep cutting the sides short. Once the top of your hair gets long enough, it doesn't look bad when your hair goes above a 2 level length. Therefore when you keep growing it out, if your top is a few inches longer than the sides, it should avoid that awkward mid length everybody complains about.

pic is me, ignore the fact that I'm fat. I've lost like 30 lbs since lurking /fa/ and the only thing I've been able to work on is my hair. on the left you can see how the hair on the sides is too long for the top, but on the right you can see it's the same length except the top is longer. theres a lot of good tutorials on youtube you know, so asking here is kind of weird since you could easily find it yourself. it depends on how oily/dry your skin is, i recommend searching up some natural diy facial masks that you can easily make with stuff out of your own cupboards. invest in a facial cleanser too, washing only with water dries out your skin and rubbing it with your fingers will ruin it in the future. cetaphil is one i like if you dont want to go out all out, but personally i like biorés acne cleanser in their foaming cleanser line (the kind where you make the foam yourself instead of getting it from a pump bottle) but you dont really need to. i like vaselines lotion line, its hydrating and light
