Thoughts on Chicago?

I've been through every continent from my 6 years in the military and a few more backpacking the world on a dirt bike. I've been through every state on my Triumph. I went from Chicago to New Orleans in a single engine fishing boat via the Mississippi. I've spent over 3 months in Taiwan, Israel, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Ukraine, Russia, Belize, and South Africa

Out of all those places, I chose to settle down in Austin, TX. Grew up in Chicago.

yeah, basically atlanta. they're working on the beltline which is a larger version of the highline in newyork so hooray for green infrastructure.
and a lot of areas are rapidly gentrifying. plus when people go out, they usually dress up which is weird for the south.

forreal though Hong Kong was fucking phenomenal. Central is crazy stylish and almost disgustingly luxurious.
Lan Kwai Fong is like a Burbon Street but in all conceivable directions. Just multiple city blocks of intertwining hilly pedestrian pathways with nothing but bars and clubs.
Wan Chai is dirtier and more a Chinese Las Vegas strip.
Kowloon is across the channel and offers even more, Mong Kok is a bigass outdoor shopping district, basically a titanic outdoor mall that people just happen to live in.
Sham Shui Po is the nitty gritty hong kong you see with the red neon lights and the grime and steam on the streets and 40 year old woman with people lining outside her shop to buy grilled squid on a stick and fried chicken feet.

and then to top it off, 80% of the islands are nature parks and undeveloped. they have a tropical climate not too different than hawaii, but with better cities and shittier water lol.
