do scene kids still exist even though it peaked in 2003/2004 and was culturally irrelevant by 2007?
The neon-wearing, cat face makeup scene kids are literally making a comeback right now! They had died out a while ago (hence the fall of myspace), but are starting to appear again on things like vine. I think its young kids (13-16) starting to get into it, presumably doing the whole 'this old music is so cool/different' because they have no concept of what old is
It was culturally irrelevant by 2003. That said, yes, these people still exist. Some are apparently young, but I know a few older ones. They mostly hang out with goths, who are also apparently still a thing.
It peaked in 2007, what the fuck are you talking about? Pretty much all of the scene kid albums like escape the fate came out in 2005. I think you're thinking of second wave emo.
You have no idea what you're talking about. Scene kids are all about shitty, formulaic post hardcore. The only scene kid bad I can think of from then was bless the fall- and wasn't their first album from 2004?
i think they have turned into hardcore punk kids. not minor threat/fugazi type hardcore, newer stuff like trapped under ice, turnstile etc is what they are about now.
desu i think hardcore/scene girls are hot as fuck and in my experience are normally cool as fuck people. the guys are always unwavering dickheads though.
Holy shit dude, you really weren't lying.
Scene still exists but its not nearly as relevant, I saw some scene kids the other day, but I know of more people who used to be scene than are currently scene.
First result of scene kids
You guys are making the same mistake as early 2000s goth kids by conflating goths and rivetheads, and the many different genres of music they're into.
"Industrial" isn't just aggrotech and harsh EBM, and goths aren't just cybergoths.
There was like at least four waves of goths, starting with the early suit-and-tie Batcave dudes who listened to Goth Rock and Cold Wave, and ending with the current minimal-geometric urban ascetic ninja who listens to whatever has desaturated smoke and vectored triangles on the album cover. Between this and that you had a variety of combinations between punk kids, rivetheads, metalheads and goths per se, which ultimately blended into the "mall goth" aesthetic of the 2000s when the corporate media latched onto those trends and merged them together for easy marketing; which in turned spawned a few weird offshoots like cybergoths when it intersected with other shit.
Scene or emo chicks are fucking crazy. I've had about 4 different girls during my teens who threatened to kill themselves when I proposed breaking up with them. Also fresh cuts every time I saw them. I can't stand them now despite how much I want to.
These guys know what they're talking about.
In my day, scene queens and kings used to be bigger than life. Nowadays, the current top scene kids try to relate to their fans by posting shitty YouTube videos about how they're just like you. They also use YouNow, which is the new Stickam.
The thing that makes me cringe is that My Digital Escape is going on tour. YouTubers on tour just sounds stupid to me.
The only thing I like about My Digital Escape is that Alex Dorame (blue hair) is cute af.
Shitty, formulaic post hardcore was culturally irrelevant by 2003. It doesn't matter that a bunch of hangers on were making their first albums past that.
I know it's still a thing. I was just saying that all the old scene kids I know who still look scene have been hanging with goths lately.
no, scene kids were funny to have around because bullying was still a thing back then.
now everybodies super sensitive and referring to a black person as black will have a hoard of feminists tying you down trying to give you sensitivity training.
good day and age that it is boys
>scene dudes are always super chill or nice
grungier scene/skater/stoner type guys are. the full on androgynous spiked ear spacer types are fucking self involved pricks
I hung out with a lot of borderline emo girls in highschool and they ranged from being crazy bitches to pretty-chill-but-with-daddy-issues types. at least they were stil sometimes cute less judgemental than the popular girls
Alex Dorame is my MDE waifu.
You can have Shannon, bitch has a balding disease, totally not /fa/.
>Alex Dorame is my MDE waifu.
Tell me about it.
Lately, these kids have just been making reaction videos. Guess that's easier than coming up with something original.
Their music is just a Never Shout Never/Owl City ripoff.
The joke of the group is Bryan Stars, imo. That curly hair never fit into the scene, even straightened it looks like shit. He also wore the same stanky-ass blue Aeropostale shirt for years. Not /fa/. He's actually going to make music as well, what a joke, right?
The punchline is that he's almost met his goal of crowdfunding $7,500.
Scene kids all stayed kinda alternative from what I can tell, the girls generally dress "tumblr" (which isn't really that alternative anymore), and the guys are either dressing /fa/ or "i love my beard, manbun, and sriracha"
>2 GIRLS 1 CUP REACTION (ft. TYLER HAGEN) | JOHNNIE GUILBERT
Video was posted yesterday on their youtube account. Are you sure this channel isnt a fucking time capsule that a bunch of scene kids from the early 2000s made back then and are only posting now? Seriously who the FUCK still reacts to the most fucking entry level scat porn video of all time.
you are correct, the scene kids are very sensitive about that topic
We're not the ones who go and get high and party all night. We like to see into this planet, we like to let our minds adventure. Everyone tells me I overreact like crazy when they insult my music, I tell them to shut up and don't tell me what to do.
scene kids now are Mac demarco goodwill faggots. you can ask anyone of them I swear to god they were scene.
Hey at least he knows his audience
The thing that gets me is his hair (pic related). I don't know if there's anyone that can go from curly hair to straight hair and have it look natural. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't you have to use hair relaxers to make it look good? Or is a hair straightener good enough?
I've heard that he was born with a cleft lip and that would explain why his upper lip is so uneven. What do you guys think?
Yeah, it comes off as tryhard, with him quoting the same bands over and over. It's like, dude come on, you're 25. Stop this shit. Here's one of his most recent tweets:
>I'll hold you close and show you you're not broken
It's always shit like this.
come on anon, you can't fool me. scene kids died out years ago we all know this.
oh i know, i just wanted to post that photo with gerard in this hospital gown and also the beginning of my favorite album
as a compensation here's some bullett era romances
>tfw suicide squad will bring back scene harder than sonny moore but you are too old to go back to straight hair and youth small hawthorne t's and get dat scene grilll pussy.
if you are in aus i will fight you
all I'm hearing is my disgusting [but comfy] wardrobe from like a decade ago is about to become wearable again
>that escape the fate album cover my unrequited highschool crush had as her lastfm profile pic
this is gonna haunt me forever i think
>mfw I threatened to kill myself when I was sixteen when a girl I'd been seeing told me she liked my best friend
Haha I wont lie I got the scene --> manbun form him, but I found it to be true
Yeah his hair looks like its been forced to be straight, it doesn't quite lay flat against his head like any other scene hair
When I was a metal head during my teenage years, at the time of when scene/emo popped up, I hated it. I saw a lot of potential metal heads/goths at the time end up going emo for a few years, then completely turning hipster. I guess it was for the best but damn we could have had a larger group of metal heads if scene/emo never existed at the time. And by larger group, I mean like 75% of them were girls. kek
But that was the past. I don't really care about emo/scene folks today. (the few that are left)
