I don't know any Anne Rice, so I cannot think of any witty comment. However, I get the vampire reference. The boots I posted were just an idea. I figure that I won't have a wide choice if I don't want to wear leather. So if anyone knows a brand, please let me know.

No, I generally disregard those because while I don't consume beef or pork (intestinal condition, never really had a taste for it anyway) I love me some leather goods. Any chance I could talk you out of it? The way I see it, a quality leather garment serves the purpose of 10 or more man-made material pieces in it's lifetime and is thus a net positive from an ecological perspective.

I know Doc Martens uses synthetic leather (faux leather) sometimes. Here's the first shop I found after googling "vegan shoes"

It's just another way of saying "cruelty free", which I find funny because they are sometimes made in sweatshops. Sure, no animals were harmed in their production but you can bet your ass some eight year old Indian kid was in the production line.
