I'm very interested in this collection in particular because Gucci seems to have gained solid recognition at least for the past half year, and some are beginning to question how long this new look can last.

I can definitely say that while I still do like it, I might get very bored fast with a couple more seasons of this. You can already see it in Vetements. It's reached the tipping point, lost some of its original magic.

Hope Alessandro surprises us with a new twist

While watching this I realized that Alessandro isn't even really playing around with the idea of "seasons". His work at Gucci has been a continuation of a single wardrobe, and the notion of Cold / Warm seasons & seasonal themes doesn't seem to be a thing for him.

Of course, there were the seasonal variations of the staples - the bags, the furry loafers. Those are what'll sell. But I realized that with a large scale fashion house with lots of heritage, you gotta establish a firm image and vision so that you can build long term loyalty with your clients. Very smart of him to do this, and in a way very similar to what Hedi's done for Saint Laurent (both with a take on vintage as well)... Although I don't think too many have been adopting the actual Gucci clothing, at least not yet. They both do make most of their money through handbags and accessories, but Saint Laurent's distribution and demand of ready to wear products is very real.

I think most fashion consumers are not the boy with big framed glasses, wearing a knit beret and a silk pussybow shirt with velvet flared pants, but we love the idea of this boy.

Styling was impeccable as always, and when dissected, many of the pieces stood on their own.

Another part was presentation : the atmosphere / mood created through the soundtrack and interior design / lighting gave way for an interesting juxtaposition, and while the clothes may not have changed much, it sure provided an undercurrent, a different tone for the viewer to consider.

Overall great collection, great show. 8/10

I really want to buy one of the grosgrain neck bows that are like $150 lol... I know I can make my own but this is an occasion where I'm willing to fully admit to brand whoring... Gucci is just too captivating and I gotta have something from it!!!

Also velvet is fucking back at full force, definitely one of the coolest things right now.

I think it was a combination of clubwear / a revival of elements of traditional luxury in recent times that is bringing it back.

the collection seemed very cohesive and definately had a direction behind it
and it didnt seem to adhere too much to the previous collection either which is a good thing as i can see the style not stagnating too quickly as you said in >>10852402
definately not something i could see myself wearing but it is still very interesting

Also Peter Dundas's Menswear debut at Roberto Cavalli a couple days ago was obviously very heavily influenced by what's going on at Gucci right now, it's a sign!!! Everyone hop in before it's too late this may be your last chance at "knowing Gucci before it was cool"!!

I can so see myself wearing these flared trousers though, would be great especially since my legs are ugly and the extra volume would hide it

Flared trousers are also definitely back right now been seeing it so much lately, wonder if it'll ever pick up for the high street... For girls it 100% will. Can see brands like Topman doing it for men. Mark my words there's a resurgence going on

I was really satisfied with this show as a continuation of their last collection. Alessandro is really proving himself to be this generation's standout designer imo.
It's subject to change, but I'm feeling an 8.6-8.8/10

Huge 70s vibe from the clothes and really velvet just adds to it. The track suit was kinda cool cause that kinda velvet ones come off sleazy as fuck like something vintage porn producer would wear but the context is Gucci and the luxury surrounding it.
