female /fa/ general
- why isnt there anywhere on the internet to discuss fashion casually
- why is everyone on r/ffa reaching for mediocrity
- things you have bought recently/grails
- post nice pix n have fun!!!!
These two are in the mail
Need a handbag >200€ for my mom as a birthday present any recommendations?
I just recently discovered UNIF and I like them a lot. Thanks!
lol thanks, I was unsure about that one as well but I liked the idea and I can still send it back if it looks bad on me.
The thing that makes me laugh with ffa is the EVERY INTERVIEW NEEDS A SUIT mentality.
Even when it's shit like retail or creative industry jobs.
They find it so hard to get outside their strictly prescribed boxes that their advice for half the questions that get posed are completely useless.
Anyone have recs for wool trouser/leggings that actually work as pants and keep you warm?
If you're short I got some tweed look children's trousers from Zara as house clothes that are the most fucking comfy things I have ever worn and decided to wear out today in chilly temperatures because they're cosy too.
Only cheap and only work if you're on the smaller side but a very comfy buy.
i know what you mean, but on the flip side i find serious ~fashion~ blogs tedious. i like the reliability aspect but i can't really take people who wear ballet flats seriously
yes yes its a shame
things i bought recently because it was 50% for every first order @ tobi??
i'm sure the quality isn't anything to write home about, but for just over $100 for four items and some basics lacking in my wardrobe (esp for work), i pulled the trigger. i saw the skirt irl and it looked great so fingers crossed
looking for an everyday bag or something for special occasions? what have you seen so far
Stick-on bras. Either the type that look like chicken cutlets where the whole thing stick to your chest and clips in the front, or bras that look like normal bras, just have sticky "flaps" on the sides in place of a strap.
Sometimes sewing cups into the dress is an option, but that depends on the dress and how tight it is.
dieppa restreppo shoes. got them for half their original price and i've been looking for simple loafers, so hopefully these will be good
heres a pic of the front, the excuse the styling
i have a cups and use nipple pasties. these ones are particularly good because they're tapered and matched to skin tone, so you can wear sheer-ish things if need be http://bristols6.com/nippies-skin-reusable-silicone-nipple-cover-pasties.html
no min spend for the 50%, but i think there is for free shipping.
what is techwear? i havent been on fa in a while. post an example pic? im imagining its like gyakusou but i could be wrong
no, but i've tried a different shoe by the same brand so i'm not too worried. the leather was pretty soft on the inside (although it was suede)
lol i wish i had narrow feet, shoes these days don't cater to the wide-footed
yup, that's an example. techwear just means the clothes are breatheable/waterproof/some type of versatility.
>i wish i had narrow feet, shoes these days don't cater to the wide-footed
Can we swap? It feels the opposite way round in the uk! Even bottom tier new look has a section for wide feet but nothing for narrow. Got to get all my shoes from clarks because they're one of the few I've found doing narrow widths in my budget and then I feel like a middle aged woman
>Girls are more supportive I guess
This isn't necessarily a good thing though, even in the OP it says
>why is everyone on r/ffa reaching for mediocrity
which I guess comes from handholding and no blunt criticism like there is on /fa/
Although sometimes ott /fa/'s honesty is a good quality.
I guess it depends on the brand? I've found that designer brands tend to be narrower (e.g., Robert Clergerie and Rachel Comey which both fucked me over)
I think it's because females on /fa/ are a minority and we want a community, so why fuck things up for us? Anyway I'm sure if someone comes and posts basic bitch wear you'll get the typical /fa/ comments
honestly all i can think of are designer collabs with major sportswear companies i.e stella/adidas, y3 and capsule collections for women are few and far in between. junya and issey do sportier pieces at times??
i'll post if anything else comes to find. but it costs a lot of money to research and develop those fabrics and the womens fashion industry isn't really fussed on innovation on that front, it moves too quickly
i really loved that first gyakusou collection ;___;
lollll pic of skirt. did you buy that recently?
ooh if you're looking for basics AA is having an up to 70% off sale? just stay away from the super tight stuff
that is so hilarious to me
i just found these after some quick googling
they r qt
>Anyway I'm sure if someone comes and posts basic bitch wear you'll get the typical /fa/ comments
It would be good to have a decent place for female fashion, the only places I can think of is a few places on tumblr.
yeah, most techwear seems to be aimed at men, and women's fashion definitely doesn't focus longevity unfortunately. also, most techwear i find is always of the sportier variety - i guess it'll take time before you get tech fabrics in more classic styles
...and they're sold out ;__;
other than making your own site?
Was gonna start a thread but this seems like the best place to ask: I'm a (straight) guy trying to feminize my appearance a bit, and I was wondering how I can pick the appropriate size so the fit is as good as it'll get. I'm 130 pounds, sorta skinny-fat, and about 5' 11". As an example, if I was going to buyhttp://www.barneyswarehouse.com/derek-lam-folded-seam-detail-tunic-503679491.html#start=6 would I get the 36 because the woman modelling it is the same height?
I usually dislike streetwear, but this is a great turtleneck
not a fan of this, it looks too trashy, but I can't judge without seeing you wear it/who you are
That actually looks pretty good. If you're thin enough, I think you could do it.
I've recently started to "feminize" my wardrobe, but it's more an attempt to tear down the boring rules of male wardrobe. Pic related, a skirt I bought. I need some thoughts. (Sorry for bad picture, I have shit light here)
I recommend you look at Vincent Beier's instragram too, he's an androgynous male model which is incredibly inspiring to look at.
looks cute but loll
i'd change the shoes though, and i think defining your waist doesn't work well for men. men are triangular in body shape, yeah? so you want to define the hips. this is part of the reason why we use belts. anyway, i'd untuck the shirt/have a shorter shirt to show off your skirt and see how that looks
then again, defining the waist is a feminine thing to do. idk
I see what you mean, I could try that. Thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it. I'm really trying to make this work without being "an attentionwhore" or being too flashy for the sake of being flashy.
Sorry if I am hijacking the thread.
i guess that is to say, i get the vibe youre going for but something is falling short here stylistically. like you thought about putting on a skirt but then called it a day.
play with the placement of the buttons and holes - mismatch the button placements, bunch things up, leave things a bit half done?
a simple diy you might want to try? buy a long denim skirt from the thrift store, and instead of the white cotton, you could wear a cropped pant underneath. its kinda like an exaggerated version of the flannel around the waist thing
just wear looser pants
tech girl i found these for u
Honestly, it doesn't look good very often. I'd recommend at least a skirt or something together with it.
It might be because of the association I have with a billion trashy women who does this.
Get jeggings? If you get the right fit it can be fine with shirts
sometimes i just wanna be a 90s yuppie woman you know? calvin klein, marble eggs, the works
yeah, i would go for trousers instead but it's so much harder to find well fitting pants. honestly i just want pants that aren't jeans
Does this look better?
Thanks for the feedback, I get your comment.
I was thinking of some long skirts too, they're much easier to pull off as well. Probably easier to mix with my laid back style anyways.
aww thanks! shoes are interesting, wouldn't cop tho. i like what the jackets trying to do but it looks v bulky
damn i just really like the slight futurism look with having normal clothes that have a touch of being techy but still passable as modern clothes
u made my brain tingle
i just remembered cc babcock from the nanny
still looks like you put the skirt on as an afterthought
as a girl, i'd wear that if i exchanged the pants for tights maybe. i guess you could try athletic leggings? the gothninja skirt/leggings works well. maybe it's just the color
if u need me ill be power lunching in the left look
>tfw wide shoulders
>tfw can't wear dainty shirts because my shoulders make me look like a linebacker
I don't know anything about fashion, I just want to be pretty and elegant.
I'm going to murder the shit out of asos
>buy a skirt in the sale as a test piece because it's super cheap and in a style I was interested in
>looks surprisingly nice when it arrives
>usually take a uk 6 (24" waist) but they've upped the waist measurement an inch per size so 4 now has my waist measurement
>buy skirt in 4
>really tight so measure it
>31" hips in non stretch denim what the fuck asos
>return for the 6
>exactly the same measurements
What the fuck asos.
Probably just going to return it full stop to save the hassle now.
I'm told for buying cheap rather than looking for a better version I guess.
I just wanted to see if the style suited me before investing.
Good point actually, I hadn't thought to email them directly. Might be a dud skirt or an issue with a batch (there is a surprising amount still in stock considering it's been on sale since Christmas and is £7).
And it was this skirt. Only had middling hopes from the photo and more just wanted to see how the general shape and style looked on because the shop selection nearby is terrible so trying one in a physical shop was out of the question, but it actually looked surprisingly nice when it arrived. Denim is a richer blue and it looks less rigid.
Most female fashion makes me cringe, but I'm pretty sure my own tastes probably make most people cringe...
>phbb boards feel dated and slow, tumblr is not built for discussion. anyone have any suggestions?
There's some Chans (like 8) that have boards for this sort of thing, they're just dead, run as poorly as ffa, or loaded with fuccboi trolls. Would be nice if our Azn overlord would make a female fashion board. All we have is /cgl/ and not everyone is into Jfash and the Janitors have an itchy trigger finger in regards to non-Jfash things.
Try ponte pants. I have a pair and they're like leggings, but waaaaay thicker and look more like pants.
i don't see why we can't just use /fa/ and put in more female stuff (have a female sticky too). the only reason i think /fa/ doesnt have a larger female userbase is because a)its 4chan and b) you only see mens stuff, so girls dont come, and the circle continues
I think it because it is usually overrun pretty quickly.
This thread has stayed nice for a surprising amount of time, but I'm sure it won't be long until someone comes along and spams Korean girls in normcore or palewave or whatever and says women have no taste.
pretty much this, but i'd also add:
1. would you ever post a fit pic on 4chan
2. would you ever want your face to be associated with /fa/
2. would you ever want your face to be associated with 4chan
I reckon it could work in a similar way as /rog/ does. Not everyone is into it of course like not everyone on /fa/ is a girl. Report the blatant trolls (like when people spam clown pics in /rog/) and improve on the OP over time.
weirdly enough i just remembered livejournal communities and thats kinda the ideal platform - anyone can post a thread (entry), the comment system is sophisticated enough. ability to post so only members of the community can see, we can allow for anon comments
am i high
tell me if this is a terrible idea
If /fa/ tried to have more female presence, I worry it might end up like /cgl/ where the cosplay threads sort of duke it out with the Jfash threads for board presence at different times of year. Plus as long as people could keep the pro-ED bullshit away, a female /fa/ could serve as a female version of /fit/ as well. And hair, makeup, and skincare threads from /cgl/ would move to the new board.
Jfash communities still use LJ so its not insane. I personally prefer the more Anonymous nature of *Chans since there's less likely to be "social hierarchy" issues LJ comms suffer from.
Meh. Only a couple boards here (b, soc, r9k) are shameful boards no one should want to be associated with. Only issue with posting fit pics here is the potential to be a fuccboi magnet.
yeah, but i guess the thing we would lose is the whole image board culture that allows for a constant stream of content to react to
what would we gain? a searchable archive (via tags), the ability to collate large groups of images within a theme, and being able to post fit pics without thirsty comments i guess
maybe we could just do both, and have the threads link to the comm or something
all kinds of girls who are internet famous can get their own threads, cosplayers, gamer gurls, tumblr/instafamous people
it's quite entertaining and it keeps me from being salty on 4chan
/fem/ would be a bad name for it. /wfa/ might be a better idea. Just nothing that screams "THERE ARE GIRLS HERE" on first glance. 4chan in general has gotten a bit more female friendly over the years outside the three boards I mentioned earlier.
/cgl/ is largely female and it's okay, but there's also not a ton of selfposting outside select threads, and the janitors are quick to delete the rare "plz be my gfs" threads from r9k and fit.
It is. There's also PULL which is similar but slightly more focused on e-famous people in general. (more board drama though)
yeah i mean ideally it would be less about gossip and more about fashion
>4chan in general has gotten a bit more female friendly over the years outside the three boards I mentioned earlier.
Posted on a mostly male board, so those kind of responses are par for the course, and its not really a good example anyway.
I'm more referring to the fact that I've seen less and less fit+r8k trolling on cgl, and as long as people aren't drawing attention to their gender for no reason on male-dominated boards, they aren't treated like shit, at least not most of the time.
The thread you linked is literally sex clothing. Sex clothing is not fashion and this has nothing to do with some alleged misogyny.
If you wear sex clothing in public maybe you should question if your exhibitionism is socially appropriate.
can anyone suggest a qt and practical half zip anorak? pic related but i don't like the olive color
There's so many of us on /fa. Holy shit. This is a good thing.
I would love to, and I do, but it just gets tiring dealing with underdevelopled boys saying "you're a corny tryhard cunt" when you post something aspirational and "wtf basic bitch get some spike heels ffs" when you post something understated. It's just fucking tiring.
they are too fat for my taste, I need skinny /fa/ women
so all this shit came in the mail today!
everything seems decent, the thing im most unimpressed with is the dress, the pants are my fav by far!!!
did you end up getting it??
Is there a name for dressing like the Bad Blood music video? Fatalecore? Tryhardcore?
i like the comfortable and cozy look for winter. im esp. into looser fitting clothes and focusing on textures
everlane is nice and all, but they raised the price of their tshirts and pretend that their clothes are adequately and fairly priced :/
pls help me find nice and simple black derbies (fuck, oxfords or even monk straps are fine) that don't have broguing, aren't patent leather, and have a black sole. shit is somehow impossible to find in the decent-quality-but-not-absurdly-expensive range
only things i find that are close always have a brown sole :/
