Approaching my first cold season as a /fa/ user I have realized all the coats and jackets I used to wear are very basic. I copped the photo but it was much too large and heavy. I am only about 5'8" and was wondering what jacket I should look in to buying.
Was thinking about a fishtail parka. Suggestions?
If you're going to go fishtail, make sure it fits perfectly, if not a little on the small side. This ensures it doesn't look super effing huge on you. Also keep in mind if you buy wool overcoats or something you can always get a tailor to hem the bottom for you so, again, it doesn't look huge on you.
Besides that, I (5'8" too) wear lots of bombers. If you shop at thrift stores or other brands besides H&M and F21 you'll find bombers that are a bit cropped. Those will be your best friends.
You could do motorcycle jackets, because those can be a bit cropped too, but otherwise I would stay away from them unless you're really skinny. At 135lbs I don't even think I'm skinny enough to pull those off.
Otherwise, stick to cropped jackets. Down jackets work well because sometimes they can be cropped (or at least don't touch your thighs)
