I specifically got it in the most flamboyant pattern as possible to avoid coming off as fratty. Frats tend to stick with pastel and "80s ski jacket" colors, so if you avoid that you can pull it off.
I try to go for the "I'm down to drop everything and spend a week in the woods" look.
"I'm currently in high school, or just started college, and have no real fashion sense. Ever since realizing that being simply a 'nice guy' isn't enough to get me a girlfriend, I decided to try and develop a style of my own. 10 minutes on artofmanliness.com later, and here we are"
on a more serious note, you are on the right path if you are really going for a more "masculine" look, you just need to stray away from the entry level stuff. Anything that advertises itself as "manly fashion" these days is usually edgy as hell, and only worn by boys who didn't do well in high school sports but are trying to compensate for "masculinity" in other ways.
Sticking to styles like the one you posted but making them more subtle is the way to go. Dress how you want to dress, wear clothes that fit your aesthetic, but never dress a certain way because you think "ah, this will make me seem manly and rugged" because that defeats the purpose. Also remember that just about every representation of "classic manliness" is an exaggerated sense of false nostalgia.
east berlin 2bh,
but I gotta ask, were you the one to post this pic related? idk, just seems too familiar
I liked the yellow socks better tho...
The jacket and boots really. The captain america shirt is what made me think you were pretty new to it all.
If you were to wear a field jacket, the boots would be fine. other than that I am more a fan of lace up boots.
Go to an LL bean catalog and see the subtle differences from the fit you posted. LL bean is a good place to go if you want to have a "manly" style without looking like you're trying too hard.
Keep the wayfarers though, that shit is timeless.

It's an actual ray-ban thing, and they look like normal ass wayfarers when they are on my face, so hop off my dick. The comb and knife are pretty nice though, thank you. I think your shoes are cool.
Patagonia synchilla, tons of designs. Try to stick to a more patterned design so you don't look like a frat douche though.

fjallraven greenland winter jacket, not the warmest but good for pretty much any winter conditions. its pretty oversized so Im 6'2" 155 and a medium is very big on me. Not a problem because it means a down midweight will fit beneath. I really recommend it. Its a properly quality garment.
Only thing I didn't include is memo pad and pencil.
Don't copy me and get a pyramid ring.

honestly i thought that they were just some random garage band kids, don't really care for that sounds but house shows are fun enough for free
i'll only pay like $10 for a show now
probably have, where do you live? been to a lot of house shows in echo park, a friend hosts them often
also surprised you guessed that from my fit, is it just me or do burgerfags still all wear 2006 portland hipster shit, like all of the bands dress better

asos wool harrington. they don't sell that specific one anymore tho.
it's not my real jacket, i got mine from american eagle, but since they don't sell that either anymore, i just looked up something similar on asos.
Close, did construction before I became an engineering student.
Naturally dress more like a greaser and I have a lot of tattoos, but I wanted to be more approachable now that I'm a student again so I do the geek chic thing a lot.
