Whats wrong with it?
>>
>>944412
No play or ff.
>>

Open it there is some metal wheels that are driven by a rubber band, replace if missing or damaged
>>
Old tape decks are almost always missing belts. Replace them. Old ones may be present but loose.
>>
Those things only work one way. Go to a flea market and get a couple of a similar era and start butchering them and replacing parts until you get one that works.
>>
hijacking thread for my own problem:
I have a tape deck that's missing a screw to maintain the tape head in place. How do I go about finding a properly fitted screw?
>>
>>945704
find a similar screw?
>>
>>945704
take a similar one out and find the same one
>>
>>945704
probably too old to find a pdf manual online. I'm not sure where you would look.
>>
>>945720
>>945706
how does one "find a similar screw"?
take its measurements, somehow measure the threading and enter it in some sort of magic database?

>>945733
It's some sort of rare model, early nineties, which doesn't appear more than twice on google
>>

Only a handful of companies in the world ever made consumer electronics, everyone else just rebranded. Go to a flea market and get a few of a similar era and start butchering them. You'll find the right screw eventually. Probably on the first try.
