sup /diy/ers, hulp, going round in circles here:

anyone use / recommend project/life management software? Reason im asking here specifically, what I'd mostly need is an organisational overview of various of various ongoing projects, eg.

(a) makes a folder with the project/applicable notes/research
(b) provides a simple (automatic) overview of wtf is in this folder
(c) on this simple (one page) project overview, you can add notes etc. - preferably, with an automatic datestamp

- other abilites maybe, simple grouping, crosslinking, eg - need parts? can add directly on project page, this then shows up in a summary of things to buy page, or similar.

Basically, just something simple - somewhere between a diary, notepad and Visio/Project, pref. HTML basis, if poss. - what I dont need personally are heavy-duty scheduling/financial elements etc. No problem if own-server based either, maybe WordPress template or forum adaption or something be OK, but, no online/cloud crap, like, none - simpler, the better, as well.

tldr, but any good/simple project management software for diyers recommendations? - sans financial/scheduling bollocks, etc. - PC pref. - much appreciated..

Well, I looked for something like this for a while and tried many alternatives (mostly mobile based apps) but in the end I found out that a simple xml worksheet was better suited for me. It's not complicated but it is color coded, constantly arranged by due date and some more

Yeah, starting to figure, throwing my own HTML app together maybe easier.. but, cheers for the reply (and bump) anyway, appreciated. Seen some intranet things would maybe do/be adaptable enough, but, nothing free/under $500 till now.

Anyone else - diy organisation software tip? - c'mon, I be drowning in disarray here ;) need to stop procrastinating, n git or-ga-nised.

How is what you're describing not OneNote?

This.

I'd thought about a similar idea, using xml/php, hosting it and then creating an app to interface with it. There's definitely plenty of similar ideas already out there, I just wanted to make it look pretty with CSS but never got round to it. I just use Google keep like a ui fanboy.

you could always think about a software development management program.

Leankit is free for up to 10 users and a couple of boards

Thank you for the one note suggestion(not OP), didn't know that was out there. I have a bunch of projects to manage at work aside from my own business projects and school and a personal life to juggle. I think this might work

Onenote 2013 (office) is a smidge better than the Modern app or the webapp for it, but both are pretty useful. Office 2015 might be coming out in a couple days too and then there will be touchfirst office for Modern, Android and iOS.

Maybe.

OP ´gain - cheers for the One Note tip - not like I didnt already have a few versions installed (via office) but I actually managed never to have clicked on it, till now.. thought it was part of that sharepoint nonsense, or something ;)

Ok, having figured out what that One Note shortcut does (blush) - seems to be like a tabbed Notepad, with fairly good device sharing features? - which is, of itself, purrty damn useful, ah spose.. where its falling over for me, need basic document management/overview - ie, select a project folder, provides an automatic overview of whats in it, maybe, sort features, but, thats getting wishful. One Note, seems cannot cannot link to a folder, at all, only files?

This is where I figured, HTML would be the best starting point for something like this - can dig up a scrap of code that would maybe provide my folder files overview wish, then cobble that together with the rest, etc. One Note, really seems not to like HTML? Apparently, you can use some limited html via the api, but Im not starting fucking around with that - nor can you export to html?, only that proprietary MS compiled / complete HTML bollocks.

As said, looks extremely good for simple tabbed notes and sharing, but, unless im missing something, dont think its gonna work for what Im looking for.

Yeah, I could actually spec / wireframe what Im looking for, easy enough, just, nowhere near good enough coder to put it together myself, probably. If I knew Ruby or Learnkit (cheers for the idea), could probably get it organised, but, got the ceiling falling in on me irl with various other things, not got the time / opportunity at present. Maybe revisit this, if I find something / a suitable basis to start with before it falls of the board, or, any other suggestions? - appreciated..

>>759404
Pleased One Notes been useful for you, tho ;)

>>759433
thanks, i hope.. Im off to have a look now - gonna dive in head first here, whether suitable or not ;)
