I guess it's possible, but I'm going to speculate bullshit.

My conspiracy-theory take: complaints had been escalating, the admin stopped caring about the website a long time ago, and they're simply much more interested in their new career as a camgirl. The solution? Wipe everything, make vague claims about "hackers", and abandon ship.

Regardless, the site had been dead in the water for a while now. I'm just surprised that it didn't just die a slow and painful dribble of a death until, a year or two from now, the domain simply expired. A one-and-done database wipe is a little out of the blue.
