Tales of Androgyny 0.1.21.1

New features:
- Debt and prostitution implemented
- Time now passes and the world map displays accordingly
- Now displays the base stats and modifiers in stat checks
- Can now use the arrow keys to select different options in encounter branches
- Options that cannot be selected are grayed out
- including stat-based options (like in the Goblin encounter)
- Swallowing cum now feeds you a bit

New content:
- Basic Bank and Brothel (BBB) encounters in town
- At the bank you can borrow money, but you'll be charged interest per day
- right now the bank can't come to collect the interest, but they will soon!
- At the brothel you can sign up to be one of the working girls - just don't overdo it!
- Added "+1" superior weapons in skirmish mode
- Item are now retrievable from certain events - including slime and a spider (items?!)
- defeating the Spider encounter bestows a powerful weapon

Tweaks and bug fixes:
- Fixed issue with enemies not cumming ever in certain stances because their lust doesn't build
- Can no longer violate the unicorn (you monster)
- Choice options that cannot be selected are now properly greyed out and cannot be selected
- Fixed an issue where black boxes appeared instead of certain graphics
- Character portrait no longer persists between encounters

You can use Overrun or Slide to knock enemies down - Overrun lowers their balance and Slide will knock them down if they're unstable without damaging them.

There's no grapple build yet because grappling isn't really there; the existing struggle mechanics are just a placeholder. Grappling mechanics are always a rabbit hole, so we wanted to make sure they get a lot of focus when they were implemented or it'll be a broken clusterfuck.

- Figured out how to add the animated gif that 'grows' stronger as you become more infested. This is the first version of it.
- Fixed a couple small bugs with linkages between passages
- Added back button to captains log in log files
- Added transition art and mouth/neck parasite art for the 'self-view' of chet. Having it be a smooth transition makes the opening a lot more coherent already, I think it looks pretty good.
- Fixed a couple random bugs
- "Give In" mechanic improved via css and javascript. Now gradually fades in over time from infestation (faster w/ more parasites) and goes away when you self-impregnate or give birth. Does not get reduced when you masturbate w/o self impregnation.
- Added in escape pod functionality although it's still in development
- Added in art for Joan mindfucking
- Added in art for main character as blue alien girl. Doesn't have permutations yet for the various infestations
- Added coherent backstory for Antari biology, log can be found in the Engine Room
- Removed attitude from self-summary for now, replaced with "mental pressure" stat
- Added hypnosis and mind control ability based on pheromones. Pheromones have varying levels depending on your level of mental pressure. This will probably be changed in the future to be based on other factors but for now it is what it is. There are multiple types of hypnosis (overt, subtle, mindbreak). Right now I only wrote short excerpts for Joan but they should all be accessible.

Check out RJ199731, premise is that monstergirls start ~3 moves away from catching you and ~3 moves away from you escaping from them with your "run" skill. Max MP is 200 and you recover 100 if your MP is over 100, ~70 if it's between 50-100, but only 5 if it's <50. It's a game of balancing efficiency vs the risk of the enemy using an ability which drains MP (rather than an ability which brings them closer to you or hits you with a stat effect). Additionally, you have anti-youkai buddhist magic which can bind either their mouth, hands, or legs, blocking a third of their abilities

If they catch you it's not instant loss, you're now grappled and it's a case of binding the new, different, correct set of dangerous moves to bind, and doing the "struggle" move 3x before your HP is brought to zero, putting you back in the running state.

It's not exactly a grappling game but some of the principles in it are pretty well executed - the difficulty is a bit brutal for the bosses but if you play flawlessly you have a ~50% chance to escape even from them, which is pretty good since I don't speak Japanese and couldn't complete the quiz that gives you the only armour in the game

Wait, expand on this if you will. It shouldn't be difficult to design an AI structure that can handle grappling. The dev would just need to treat each "stance" independently when building the AI's script. The biggest hurdle should be (assuming a competent dev, which is indeed a stretch) the time involved in building the proper number of stance scripts. It's too easy to design weighted AI that could even attempt to escape a grapple if it's HP (or whatever other stat you're using) drops low enough, or press the attack if things are going well.

A grapple involves two parties - usually the bugs involved in grappling are related to what actions a grappler is allowed to take against the entity they're grappling with, what actions they're allowed to take against other entities, and vice versa in each case. That's an extra level of complexity than non-grappling combat, where there's typically no shared state between entities. And "stances" don't exist in most games - having stance-based combat as a predicate certainly makes grappling easier to implement within that framework. In most games, it often is the most complex aspect of the combat.

If the AI is too good, players are simply fucked unless they play a very specific way and abuse the AI. Which has it's charms, everyone loves to discover exploits. It's faster and easier to instead rely on weights and RNG so they can account for multiple kinds of play-styles, and adjust weights/calculations accordingly.

Night-games mod is constantly receiving new skills and additions, it couldn't reliably have scripted fights as they would eventually run into an issue of dealing with skills/builds they aren't prepared for. For every new player mechanic, is one new exploit they immediately have to nerf into the ground. I miss my Fetish-Stacks and Tempt min-max builds that had gotten nerfed to oblivion.

Majalis already explained it simpler but I only hit update until I had finished writing this wall-o-text. Trimmed out some at least.

I don't intend to have it be nearly as crazily customisable as CoC - that's the realm of CoC/TiTS, and frankly I don't have the money (or hordes of people willing to give away their content for free) to compete. The appeal for a lot of the donators, I think, is the ability to craft their own special snowflek fursona. There's a lot of money in the furry internet community.

Anyway, my plan is to just make a text adventure involving a demon invasion so you can find corrupted and uncorrupted locations/NPCs. Obviously, this sounds pretty much exactly like CoC, but the difference is in the execution.

As for twine, I don't think I want to use it. I'd rather have something a bit more solid and customisable.

Well it was only ever about the safety of both of these methods, neutral stance death-gasms that never require the risk of penetration. Exceptions for Reyka on frottages, and Angel to temptation. Preparation doesnt necessarily need to take long. It can even be something as simple as the player making sure that any combat only starts on favorable circumstances, like 1-on-1 or even just ambushing their target somehow.
