I've got a request about a tired forest nymph. She lives in a grove and grants romantic wishes (find the girl of my dreams, become utterly attractive to other, etc) to travellers who seek her out and manage to woo her. After many years and many travellers, some returning home with their wish, some returning with nothing, she starts to tire of the whole thing. Instead of asking travellers for exotic flowers from dangerous locales, or recitals of long and intricate poems, she starts to just ask for menial stuff to get them out of her hair sooner.
One traveller appears and she grants them their wish of finding true love in exchange for brushing her hair or something, only for the same traveller to return a week or two later. They redo the wish-granting, but the traveller returns again the next day. They both start to figure out that the wish took hold the first time, much to the nymph's internal excitement, and the traveller begins to process of wooing the nymph for the first time in years.

When researching 50 Shades of Grey, I came across the concept of fanfiction plagiarism. JJ Massa evidently stole a story that was originally Tom Paris and Chakotay from Star Trek: Voyager set in an alternate universe where they were detectives or something. JJ Massa went through the story, changed the characters and the words enough to make it seem not like plagiarism, and got it published. Not sure how anyone could think they could do that and not get caught, even in 2006. JJ Massa's website is filled with nothing but lorem ipsum, which is fitting.

When EL James did this to her own fanfiction, it was called 'filing off the serial numbers.'

My only 'fanfiction' is my G4E fanfiction, which kickstarted my smut writing. But I'd never try to sell it as something else. I'd rather just write something else. Why are people so desperate to avoid writing something new? Are they obsessed with the 'perfection' of their original?

EL James herself has shown how uncreative she is by writing Grey, the first book told from Christian's perspective... which itself is what Stephenie Meyer already was going to do with the leaked Midnight Sun. Some authors go back eventually, but it's like she literally didn't know where else to go except where Twilight had gone before.

I don't really have a point this time. I just felt like trying to start a conversation.

Maybe it's different if you're already technically competent when you start your first serious project, but I still think you can only get better with practice.

No, it's just easier to piggyback off someone else's established setting and characters. As for me, I've written a good deal of smut that could be classified as fanfiction, but it's all been motivated more by my interest in the characters (sexually and otherwise) than anything else.

Besides, knowing Games Workshop's stance on anything they think might be ripping them off no amount of name changing would have kept them from suing me had I been stupid enough to try to get them published.

I'm the exact opposite. While I still feel satisfied with much of my older work. I'm all too happy to completely redo it if it seems like I could do justice to the original concept better now. In fact, that's what I've been working on recently.

...because changing minor details about your fanfiction is a lot easier than writing another novel?

Also a lot of people simply won't notice. I read ff books (where this is more common than you'd think), and I would never notice that a book was say, edited glee fanfiction, because I've never seen it and don't care about the fandom.

I think some shortened scenes to cover the characters would be good. Depending on how many scenes you have left in the story I think a mix of a few large group scenes that cover all the characters by switching between them, and some more solo scenes.

Basically, use group scenes to illustrate the "hippie group sex" side of the Krell, and use the more focused scenes to illustrate the "caring romantic" side. Maintaining a focus on the Krell and their romantic aspect is actually the reason I definitely think there should be more Webber/Sleethe scenes, since they're the only ones here who are actually in more than a casual sex situation and so they bear the load of exploring that part of the Krell.

Maybe Webber/Sleethe is just something that will have to be explored in sequels, but I think not giving them more focus would mean losing some of half of the stated Krell theme.

TLDR more happy couple sex for the sake of characterization please

A young adventurer is sent on a quest by a curvaceous apothecary to obtain the seedlings of a rare tendril plant while out in the forest. He quickly finds that the plant is far larger and more dangerous than expected and it quickly defeats him. Hope is a 164 ft. tall super robot with no care for collateral damage. Despair is a 150 ft. monster that resembles a Tarrasque. Write about the first one murdering the second.

I'm not going to speak for everyone, but yes I think cohesive scenes is usually better. However, I also think it's not really possible during degeneracy like that because it's almost at odds with the dogpile mood. The problem is that this is easily extended into "avoid the quagmire that is group sex".

I'm not a good writer but I've always thought of it as a can of worm to open in any case that's always going to either grow unreasonably or leave some unsatisfied and whining. You went there anyway, which in this case is good for world building, but going to be difficult to write, so I think I'm going to join >>7338883 here. Full length scenes is going to be long, but ignoring characters is going to read weird, so you could make it into a sort of fever dream thing where you don't take everyone one by one and give them a scene, and instead show shorter parts which are articulations of this whole experience.

I do agree it'd be a shame to never further explore Krell couples anymore. I'm already a bit miffed that Sousa just up and left the other Krell on the Pinwheel, but you can't just also shove Webber & Sleethe's more explicit activities in a corner during the rest of the story with a [PROCESSED] stamp after getting your readers invested in them like that, that's just cruel. I'm not sure how you could explore that angle with the others, but I'd be all for one more couple anyway (or two, or three, except dubois, he can suck my baguette and choke on it) even though good luck keeping a straight face when they go back.

The semi-unexpected clingy-ness and affection of the Krell to the one they picked, in contrast to their shameless orgies, is part of what I want to see more of at this point. It gives the race substance and flavour. This story has already gained about 20,000 words over what I originally intended, so I want to wrap it up pretty soon.

Based on your advice I think I'll do a two or three thousand word scene for each character then, switching PoV between them.

Yeah this is kind of a foundation for more Krell stuff, I'll be able to build on these themes and relationships in the future when I get the time.

I don't think I understand. Why edit Sousa's scene? Why divide between het and bi version? "Trap/Futa" Krells? Both of those seem a bit weird to me. I got very positive responses when I edited Outpost to have a hetero and bi version. I want to make sure that readers who aren't into that kind of stuff have a sanitized version they can enjoy without any unwelcome surprises.
Unless the theme is exclusively gay (like in the case of Grave Goods where it's central to the plot) I will probably be providing hetero and bi versions for all future stories that feature anything remotely gay.

It would have been fun to write, but where Layla was at that moment, she would have definitely not have been able to hold back, and then we wouldn't have had the scene where she busts while streaming.

I'm trying not to give these seemingly more realistic futas the 'infinite ammo' that I gave them in my G4E fanfiction, where they can bust seven or eight times continuously. I don't think twice in one day when she refrained the day before is too unrealistic.

Furthermore, there is a difference between Layla having sex with Selena on the day they met and if Layla had done the same with Merri. In Layla's mind , Selena represents the apex of sexuality. I have the same thing. For me, it's a complete reversal of blood flow. Write with the dick, edit with the brain. I'll pay attention to things like pacing, flow, and smuttiness while writing, but everything else can wait until later. Once I finish writing, I focus entirely on grammar, consistency, voice, and other dry subjects. It'll usually stay like this until I can forget enough of the fine details. I'd be curious to see what would happen if a human was partially immersed in a fluid and a Krell called while immersed, or if the ears were covered with the Krell up close, or if they had their tongue in contact with the human. Of course, it's not articulate, buuut it could be a fun thing for Sleethe and Webber to discover and play with if they stick together later. Just the two of them, on a mission/assignment in the swamp for more interesting flora or going to another Krell world place of interest for whatever the correct word for xeno-anthropology is, with Webber in waterproof gear up to above the waist, trying to keep moving; while Sleethe swims around, periodically making everything down there shake just because. Maybe yesterday she was too tired to indulge him in sexy times when they stopped for the day. Who knows?

Just finished the Dubois scene and I'm starting on the Webber one now. We're now up to 4608 words for Clayton, 3081 for Reid, 3825 for Dubois, that's 11,514 words of uninterrupted lizardfucking.
