That's highly plausible, Nix Uotan became the Dark Monitor after The Gentry basically put him into an anti-life equation loop (loneliness + alienation + fear + despair + self-worth ÷ mockery ÷ condemnation ÷ misunderstanding × guilt × shame × failure × judgment n=y where y=hope and n=folly, love=lies, life=death, self=dark side), and reportedly, Ultra Comics, our only superhero, who just so happens to exist in the form of a comic book, is going through the same thing. He doesn't want you to open it because he's in agony, and every time you read the story, he's forced to relive it. Not only that, but in reading it, you likely risk his corrupted self escaping. The Empty Hand could easily be him once he's outside of his own issue.

The whole thing also seems like it's exactly how the gentry would want it to go. Ultra's world is already in the same state that Thunderer's was. He tries to do a kind of 'last-minute escape' with the ultragem and his "you're being turned into text" line, but intellectron shuts him the fuck down. At the beginning of the issue, you see his eye turning into intellectron's and the skin around it being coated in black liquid. And let's not forget the fact that the cover is a scary twist on one of DC's most iconic ones ever a flash comic, no less. He's a wholly corrupted superhero, which is exactly the kind of thing The Gentry would want to spearhead their whole invasion. Heroism turned on its head, like Ultra's symbol.

Now, this is a little out there, but there's other symbolism to think about here, reaching beyond the DCU. For instance, the idea of a holy, or in this case superheroic, symbol, turned upside down: Ultra is an antichrist to superheroes. A false messiah.

On your last point there, IIRC, there was also some speculation regarding Ultra's likeness to Adam Warlock. I've been meaning to re-read all the old Starlin stuff, as apparently Morrison took some inspiration from it throughout his career. In fact, might do it now and come back to this thread later but until then, here's a basic idea to run with: Ultra is the super-hero antichrist, while Warlock is a genuine Messiah. Warlock was also created by Jack Kirby, so he could almost be considered a literal son of God on a meta level in the MU.

There was also an issue with Dormammu and Umar being "outside" of eternity, but it's unlikely that they would be able to even exist there. They probably were in eternity's dimension within the real eternity

Back in that era they had multiple multiverses. The term multiverse was used for any cluster of universes that had π within a certain range. The marvel multiverse was just the cluster of universes where π is within a certain range of 3.14. The Living Tribunal only appears the way he does in this "cluster" or Multiverse because it is appropriate to the space. In other clusters of universes he appears in a bunch of different shapes. Like one of his forms is some kind of dna chain looking thing except it is actually two solid lines that appear to warp through space and criss cross because of how curved space is due.
