I know my love of Millar frequently gets harsh criticism (some of which I totally get), but I would love to hear what you guys favorite writers/artists are. I love expanding my horizons and hearing other /co/mrades talk passionately about the works they love usually do a much better job than simply reading the story synopsis. Take for example, Ewing.

His start on Mighty Avengers put me off simply for Land's art alone and I didn't really take a look until the end of Captain America and the Mighty Avengers. He then swung to Loki: Agent of Asgard and the book felt like a mix of james bond, doctor who, and asgardian mythology. It was my first real introduction to the meta-textual stuff he likes incorporating and he did it in a way that was both clever and self-aware. He then went on to Ultimates and New Avengers and while I wasn't too keen on New Avengers, his Ultimates run was the bombastic cosmic comic I had been waiting for. Big ideas packaged into bite sized chunks and his love of Marvel lore made the work infinitely more enjoyable upon re-reads. I was giddy as a schoolgirl to read Ultimates Vol. 2 and I'd be lying if I didn't say US Avengrs has me grinning like an idiot while reading. The first arc with The Golden Skull was awesome and his use of LGBT characters initially seemed off putting to me but after reading their characterization and presented with their backstory I'm all for them.

I am so glad to hear that. I was genuinely worried that I had done something to upset you al beyond my terrible taste in comics.

>>94820644
WHile I certainly enjoyed Spencer's recent run on Cap (still loving it, he writes Steve and Sam like night and day and don't downplay him in any way), it would have been refreshing to have another writer on the Cap title which would come out around the same time. Ewing did give an inspired take on Sam but it's after Sam had been affected by AXIS and while I love the serires for it's ability to go off in new territory, it's curious to see what Ewing could have done with regular Sam. All that out of the way, AXIS was an amazing title that I didn't fully appreciate until five to six issues in. Superior Iron Man and Axis Carnage were some of the best titles I read that year..
>>
>>94817920
>starts during infinity
>12 issues later and stuck with original sin

I really hope this doesn't happen anymore. So many good books ruined by this. I liked this run despite the art.
>>
>>94821117
Ewing has a history of getting the short end of the stick while at Marvel.

It really is a shame.
>>
>>94820975
Axis was fun, which most events hate to be. Secret War also had some levity in Starlord and the tie ins. That's a huge problem with most events, imo.

As for Spencer's Cap, I liked it in the beginning but I think defending it on /co/ constantly soured me on it. Last issue I read Steve tricked him into getting a senator killed.

I know this is supposed to be "Superior Luke" but he does make a good point. If Spider-Man would have just stopped fucking around and taken care of Ock when he had the chance, none of this would have happened. Captain America killed people during the war and they weren't even close to super-powered much less had the body count these guys do. Every argument against killing these monsters is moot.

Reading through Tomasi's Superman at the moment. Is it bad that I really really enjoy this title? I know it's relatively new with it being a Rebirth Relaunch but it has been everything I have wanted in a Superman comic and more over the past 5 or so years.

He's better at weaving it into the story than most, but it really is absurd how often he's hit with forced tie-ins.

Just read Superman #7 by Tomasi, it's been a long while since I read a Superman comic this good. Every page was pure gold and I don't use that phrase lightly. I think I've just gotten to the point where I know Land isn't going to do anything knew but perfect on what he's already provided and in terms of providing suitable comic art with semi-creative paneling, I'll take what I can get because....you know....Land.

I miss Remender at Marvel
>>
>>94822221
I do wish we'd gotten his SamCap.

The "Hydra traitor on every team" thing sounded cool.

If you're gonna make heroes go bad, fucking make them go bad.
>>
>>94822166
Oh no. I love Axis and enjoy Remender as a writer. Am I to blame? I'm experiencing some heavy lag from my side that is making posting difficult

The Vampire State arc was so awesome, especially with Doom and Vlad having a conversation on the Moon. One of my favorite arcs of all time.

If I did a mid-day arc tomorrow would I get visitors? I could start really really early (I'm thinking noon) and I could cover the entire series.

Also, I'm worrking on a cherent storyline for the Millarverse and I'll post my rough draft tomorrow. It's not going to be exactly perfect but the titles are for the most part be where they need to be (I hate splitting parts of stories for the sake of chronology). I'll post what's necessary, add a couple notes, and the audience will figure it out.

So around 1-2 would be cool? I'd have to spread them across to threads but the second wouldn't be all that much and I might be able to sneak the Alan Moore issues in as well.

Awesome...are you in God's True Time Zone (EST)?
>>
>>94823025
I am in EST. Pretty close to DC and when I say pretty close I mean a couple hours.
>>
>>
>>
>>94823025
Would you want me to start with Moore's Captain Britian or straight to Cornell's? I could make this a regular thing till the serires is finished. Do Captain Britain in the day and Ewing in the night till both are finished.

Also I definitely gave it some thought and I'm totally going to do a Millarverse thread. Going to power through as many titles as I can tomorrow and get a rough timeline established.

God's True Time Zone makes all other time zones its bitches.
>>
>>
>>94823185
I don't disagree at all. EST is by far the best time zone. We have New York and DC in out favor. Other timezones don't got shit

Dealer's pick...it's been ages since I've read either.

I think I'll go with Cornell just because it will be easier to storytime. If I start earlly enough, I might be able to get it done in a day.

It's both cool and funny seeing Spidy in a lab coat.
>>
>>
>>94823829
What's inappropes is Spider-Man's joke, given how many kids have actually died at that school.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>94823892
I don't remember many kids dying in the Jean Grey School specifically, which is surprising given that Wolverine of all people was the headmaster.
>>
>>
>>
>>94823970
It's a mutant school built on the foundations of the old mansion.

Giving it a different name doesn't really stop it from being a the site of a mass murder of teenagers.
