You haven't been slacking off again have you?Or 'jacking off' in some cases.
Post what you're working on, fan-made or original! Whatever you got to show!

Almost done with inking this one.
Don't really have anything else to say...

Looks sweet. Can you share any more?
I quit my night job a couple months back, and am trying to use the extra time to get a web comic off the ground. I've been progressing slowly, and want to take one last crack at solidifying a consistent look for my cast, or at least the protagonist, before I get the pages going in earnest.
Top right is me trying to design a QT cop with resting bitch face.
>>94800440
I've been practising colouring and inking (with brush)
On the right one I coloured mostly with promarkers, but I'm not sure if I'm just absolutely terrible at using markers, or if markers just suck. But I'm thinking of going with the latter and never use them again.
I am probably going to buy a set with watercolour brush pens today, so we'll see how that goes.
Just been drawing this robot

Losing some of the charm between pencils and inks. Can I get some people to weigh in on This?
>>94802080
Im jealous of ypur obvious finesse.
Markers aren't good for a lot of things, working best at solid, flat fills. What kind are you using? There is a lot of stuff put there that's just no good.
Today I woke up at 4am and did nothing but draw requests across about 5 different threads up until just now. Just finished my last request. I think I'm definitely getting better, but I'm still very new and far away from making anything worthwhile.
When you're new, is it better to just constantly bust out new things or spend longer periods of time working on just one? I feel like constantly drawing new stuff is really helping, I can finally draw hands now and visualizing what I want the final product to look like in my head is much easier. But, my art is still kinda shit obviously. However, I don't finish something until I think something looks good. Should I focus on being more of a perfectionist with my stuff or just get to where I consider it 95% of what it could be and spend my time working on the next thing? I'm more concerned with just practicing and getting better right now.
fuckin trying to finish this today ,color and all.

Have a fancharacter I've spent far too much mental capacity developing.
>>94802309
Sounds silly, but do a little o' both. Spend some time just shitting stuff out, and some time polishing work. Some of my favorite pictures were quick "I just wanna draw this and get it out of my head" doodles. But I also like looking back at some of the stuff I spent more time on and realizing that, yeah, it was a good idea to do a little spit shine on that shading, or fixing going the extra mile on some details.
To put it another way: Not everything has to be a masterpiece, but that doesn't mean nothing can be. Make time to practice and make "perfect" work, but also make time to have fun with drawing. ESPECIALLY if you're doing drawings for 4chan threads.

swain, I love your art, but please tell me you're gonna finish your porn comic maybe in the future
>>94802277
I'm using some old promarkers I got years ago and have let collect dust.
After going digital I've been getting more into colour, so I'm trying to transfer it over to my traditional work as well. So I'm trying out different solutions to see what fits me best.
Haven't done watercolors in a while.
>>94802727
I've got these. They're troublesome. Only thing I can find a use for them with is adding coloured highlights or a fibrous texture. Not a fan, which is weird because they're not cheap.
This isn't explicitly art related, but fuck it I guess this is best place to ask.
I'm making an animatic and I need one of the voices to have that kind of demonic reverb to it. Other than editing the reverb of the audio, what makes that effect? Messing with the treble? Any audio junkies pls weigh in

I like the coloring. It reminds me of something that I can't quite remember. It looks like it could develop into something colorful, intricate, and cool.
Do you have any more elaborate art, something that challenged you and you're proud of?
I don't have a lot of new stuff to show right now bats except for this little thing
I just started animation school a week ago so i'll probably post more stuff now that i finally have a bunch of classmates that also like to draw, do not worry it is not an american school so no cal arts here and i will not end up in debt because i could even get paid for studying if i get good grades
>>94804484
Actually I'm pretty proud of it, believe it or not. Recently I started to learn rendering. This is my 4th or 5th '''rendered''' drawing so far, and since still I'm learning, I'm not doing anything too complicated. It's just a first step
>>94804561
Ah, I see. Well, at such an early stage, that's really well done.
Since you've practiced it a few times, if I had any request/advice, I would say to try drawing something difficult. Like, just-a-little-too-difficult-for-you-to-handle kind of difficult.
You might surprise yourself.
okay
>>94804595
Thanks! I'll definitely try it
>>94804067
I meant anatomy, perspective and construction flaws.
>>94804612
Cute, anon. I would take some precautions to avoid looking too CalArts-esque, since you clearly have more talent than that. She has elbows instead of noodle arms, which is great, and she doesn't look quirky in a manic pixie dream girl way. Also good.
I would suggest giving her somewhat anatomically accurate hands. Nothing ridiculous, just the basic shape of an actual hand rather than Simpsons hands. A good example of what I mean is, oddly enough, Spongebob's hands.
But those are just suggestions, not orders. Do you have any other characters or a story? I like it so far.

Happy with how it turned out in the end, one of the rare few times I actually took a drawing to completion.

>>94806893
I can't say I actually like any of them.
Supergirl, Bats, Supes, Twoface, and Peej are the least objectionable, mainly because they look like alternate versions of known outfits.
>>94806893
I really like wonder woman's design. Shaved head and outfit really sell the warrior princess angle.
>>94807728 was right in that you didn't really do anything different with the characters he listed. Though I'm not a huge fan of power girl's boob window going up to her neck.
Not a fan of surfer-douche green lantern. As much as my dick is telling me to like thicc black robin, bikini bottoms and a crop-top is a little much. I like the concept you were going for with the flash, but the design is bland. He's pretty much the human torch. Cat woman's massive tits are a bit over the top, and i'm not sure that's how harness is supposed to fit, but I like the rest of that design.

>>94830368
It means you need Loomis. Or rather, you don't know or don't use any fundamentals of figure or construction in your drawing, and it is painfully obvious. Even if you're drawing something simple or stylized, you still need to know how the pieces of a body fit together.
>>94831073
Yeah, you do, but the rendering is nice, so you'll have a leg up once you put some more effort into the basics.

I don't know. Are you going for a flat-colors with linework, or art you going to make it more rendered?
>>94838103
I you're referring to >>94837739, then it'll mainly be flats with detailed linework. The foliage is going to take some time.
Because I'm not planning to render, any color imbalance in the flats are going to be pretty jarring, though.

I understand that you wanna do exaggeration and loomis i suppose is helpful for the part that you need the most help with, which is construction of the body. I don't like to shout loomis at everything though, since the same idea can be understood from drawing objects with volume.
Have you ever tried the coil method when drawing an object or body(part)? It should help quite a bit with with understanding depth.

>>94838771
Well yeah, anon, everyone needs Loomis. I would bet that no artist you know of got where they are without Loomis, or at the very least the things Loomis teaches. I completely agree with >>94839051 on this issue.
If you don't want to work realistically, that's fine, but the thing about stylized characters and cartoons is that they still adhere to certain rules. Proportions, balance, construction, form, gesture, color theory,...
Thing is, before you break the rules you have to know and understand them. Once you understand proportion you can fuck with the proportions. once you understand construction you can fuck with the construction.
Maybe it'd be helpful to suggest some other sources, though. Try Sycra on youtube, maybe Proko. They won't teach you anything different, not really, but they might be more palpable.
Finally got a solid enough design for the anti-hero/villain of my story to start modelling her.
Would still like to create a more polished illustration for her at some point but I think finishing this rig will be more beneficial in the long run.

>>94839609
is blocky supposed to be the style?
i like it.
>>94839652
I'm really proud of that and I'm definitely going to be using it for everyone of the main characters!
It's a little hard to explain without, like, a diagram but I'm projecting a 2D animation of her face onto the model of her head inside the helmet, then filtering that through the texture of her visor to make it look like her face is just an image on a screen. It's like if Deadmau5's helmet could show an x-ray of where his face was in the helmet.
The entire thing takes place on the internet and I wanted something that felt like tron but wasn't- glad you liked it anon!

>>94839957

Good luck with your project! You're making cool shit.

>>94837739
desu for the style, flat colors work really well here. But you got to fix her arms they look kinda stiff. I know that would require basically doing it all over again at this point, but those kinds of details will ruin a final product.
>>94837060
Turn it into Fluttershy
>>94839609
my only suggestion would be to change the values of her face through the visor. there something off-putting with he black and white, so id recommend something like a purple/green color scheme. Either that or maybe try to get the edges of the visor to illuminate so theres like this corona on the inside of the helmet.

Drew this yesterday. It's 1:1 scale and my entire body is exhausted from moving my arm around.
I don't know what to do today. Thinking about trying a comic for the 1000th time, but I just don't know how to stick with it after the initial few hours.
Sorry for the high resolution
>>94848069
If you've got the drive to draw something on that scale in a day, why not start with a short 1-2 pages comic? Something you don't need to spend too much time after those initial few hours.
>>94844537
Loomis didn't come up with everything in his books on his own. He was a commercial illustrator in his day, he went to art school like all his contemporaries. He studied under Bridgman, whose work on anatomy is still relevant.
He wrote his books to teach what he knew and had learned from others, and the books are good. That's why people recommend them.
>>94848079
I'll try that out. Thanks!
>>94848037
much better, but theres still a lack of gravity. have her hand impact its immediate surroundings. try to think of how you would rest your hand if there was a bag in its way. would you fidget with the bag? would you hold the strap? I might be inclined to rub my fingers together for some reason. any of these would work to make it less stiff.
also, that linework is much much prettier than your original image.
I traced this image for the sole purpose of trying my hand at painting it. I'm not too proud of the flesh tones and I completely forgot about the shoes.
>>94848907
The input is really appreaciated, anon. The lineart is going to be pretty detailed and I'm willing to go over it to fix the basics as much as needed since the colors themselves are just going to be flats, possibily with some simple cel-shading.
Does it look more natural now?
>>94849677
Its definitely a step in the right direction. The only issue now is that the wrist doesnt look comfortable or the elbow is bent a bit too far out for the angle of the hand. my recommendation is to try and fix the perspective of the elbow so that the creases of her blouse are more in front as apposed to on the side as they are currently. idk if that makes much sense.
this is a WIP, im trying to git gud with my colors but something feels off, i cant seem to help giving all the colors the same value and it just comes off as noise.
i tried to correct that by aplying filters to the main character and the foreground but i dont know how well i did it
>>94849791
A good way to check value is to make the picture grayscale. You don't have strong enough contrasts, your light colors could stand to be lighter.
>>94845887
Thanks, it's almost there.
>>94849785

>tfw redrew the elbow three times
