When TTG's writers pick on their fans, it's usually unwarranted and (for lack of a better word) mean-spirited. Even when they're making fun of their own writing, it's usually done in a way that puts the onus on their fans for being popular no matter how bad it gets.

The Boom writers know how to walk the fine line of picking out the silliness of the fandom without specifically deriding them for liking the show. Even the CWC episode didn't outright mock him, just put his weirdness on display. And even without knowing about the subject, it was funny. Can't really say the same for TTG's "Employee of the Month Redux", which basically boils down to "the original series had dumb episodes too" executed in the driest way possible.

If Sega was trying to make a franchise that would entertain people for decades, they have surely succeeded.

They did do that. During the massive Sega crossover, Sticks found her way into the main Sonic universe. This sounds strange, but I can never get used to his current voice actor. He's not a bad actor, I think he was perfect in some anime, but the problem is it's just weird seeing someone as wiry as Sonic the Hedgehog producing that much bass in his voice. It feels like Sonic's got some kind of magic baritone throat which strays from his generally lighter voices given before. Call this a retarded shitpost if you want, but for me it always feels like he's got an impossible voice.
