In four days, an era is coming to a close.
Twenty-five years ago...
>The Marvel 2099 universe was created, to decent sales; turns out that Spider-Man 2099 is the most popular
Twenty-two years ago...
>Joey Cavalieri, editor of the 2099 line, was fired as part of a cost-cutting exercise during the great crash, and then the original Spider-Man 2099 was cancelled two issues after Peter David's departure over that
Nineteen years ago...
>The original 2099 run was concluded in the "Manifest Destiny" one-shot where Spider-Man 2099 was the main protagonist
Fifteen years ago...
>Spider-Man 2099 was revisited by co-creator Peter David in the "Time Flies" arc of Captain Marvel (Genis-Vell)
Seven years ago...
>Dan Slott's Spider-Man 2099 comeback tease actually began in Horizon Labs at the beginning of the Amazing Spider-Man Big Time storyline
Four years ago...
>Slott directly teased the return of Spider-Man 2099 via Twitter
And there you go. Slott BROUGHT BACK Spider-man 2099 as he long planned in Superior Spider-Man via temporal shenanigans.
Storytiming Superior Spider-Man #17-19, and the first few issues of Spider-Man 2099 Vol 2 (if I have the time I may delve into Spider-Verse).

>Twenty-two years ago...
Did I lost track of the years passed? Twenty-one, to be exact.
I was pretty disappointed with the current run of 2099, but last few issues brought back my interest.Shame it's pretty much cancelled already
Y'know, Spider-Verse wasn't that bad. Parker Luck either.
>>93883639
Also, OP, just to be clear, this is not the actual Spider-Man 2099, but an alternate version of him where everything that happened in the original's book more or less happened to this version, as well, since the actual events of the 2099 universe takes place in an alternate-universe-future.
This is also evident by the fact that, in this version, Miguel's costume is red and blue, as opposed to the original's red and black, with blue highlights due to 2099's abundance of blue neon lights.

>>93883967
So is Slott's Spider-Man 2099 an OC all along?
>>93883967
You sure about the suit thing? I thought that was just different styles of coloring at hand, since I always thought of Miguel's suit as a dark blue when I read the original 2099 run.
>>93883967
Now I'll give you that I was a Young'Un when I was reading Spider-man 2099, so I could well be wrong, but I think you're making that 'black and red' costume stuff up.
Could be wrong, but then, there are people that thInk Venom is blue.

"Wherever I go, I must mock Spider's neck break scene"

Fucking Christ Otto, every single time.
Skipping the pages that are useless to this topic.

>guy shows up
>says some crazy shit about a costume
>anons begin to reply
>dude just vanishes
Well played.
After twenty-two years, Spider-Man 2099 gets his own title again, by writer and co-creator Peter David and regular artist Will Sliney. Note that Sliney uses certain 3D software as a shortcut.
Thanks, OP.Unpopular opinion - I think the original suit is just as shitty as the new one and is only preferred by most people due to nostalgia value and adversity to change.

Did Slott try to character assassinate Liz too?
Jesus. She was never this bitchy.

It would be funny if it wasn't true.

He really is best Spider when he's being an asshole and bullshit artist.
>>93884368
I didn't vanish, dude. I went to do some research, by going through the 2099 books.
>>93884055
>>93884059
The books present him, sometimes with over detailed shadows and very little blue and sometimes with mostly blue and little shading.
However, I found the proof. And it's not in how he looks, but how the people in the books talk about him.
In Issue 3 of Spider-Man 2099, this cyborg-cowboy guy tells him "Alchemax wants your black-clad butt, and I'm here to bring it to them.".
In the same issue, he himself addresses this by telling Lyla to distract the cyborg-cowboy by telling her to repeat this: "There was a man in black! And he went through there!" when describing himself.
So, the costume, even if it doesn't look black, it's perceived as being black in-universe.
>>93883998
Kinda, yeah. This is, for all intents and purposes, the same Spidey 2099, it's just that the original is in a universe where the events in 616 took a different turn at some point.
Here, Francesco Mattina becomes the regular cover artist.
>>93885296
You make a good case anon, I guess you're right.
>>93883998
>>93885296
Well yeah, the two Miguels share the same life events from the original run up until pretty late, where if I remember correctly, there was an apocalypse where President Doom died and Miguel ended up as mankind's hero with Thor's hammer or something.
Obviously that didn't happen with this Miguel, but I'm not quite sure the exact point of difference. Here he vanished to present 616 with Tyler still in power, while in the original he himself ended up president of Alchemaxwith his secretary being his own mom lel, but I don't remember if Stone got the company back by the end of the run.

If you're asking me to be thankful to dan slott thats not something im going to do
>that lifeless composition at the top

I would have forgiven the empty background if they had made the cars more dynamic, like going over the panels below it for a 3D effect.
Outstanding reaction face Miggy.

>>93883639
t. (you), dan slott
>>93885973
And now what do you think of this storytime part so far?
I'm sleepy now, so I will storytime Miggy's involvement in the Spider-Verse event (featuring selected issues, pages, and panels from The Amazing Spider-Man (2014) when I wake up, plus the Spider-Man 2099 arc between Spider-Verse and Secret Wars, all in a new thread! Also still, if I have stamina left for tomorrow, Secret Wars 2099 and the first post-Secret Wars arc of Spider-Man 2099 in another thread!
Remember to bump!
>>93886435
Miguel is fun as always, but the plot itself isn't very engaging, not being in the 2099 setting really cripples Miguel since for all intents and purposes all his relationships are reset, losing all the momentum acquired through his first run.
>>93886435
What that other guy said. For 3 issues, it hasn't really picked up and is still just establishing things. Also, the art in that last one seemed a little stiff.
>>93883756
Spider-Verse, just like all of Slott's ideas, was an amazing concept that was extremely fun, but ended/was wrapped up super poorly and not at all as satisfying as it should have been, for an event of that scale.
At least it brought us new characters (that other writers turned into even better/worse characters) and brought back favorites from the past to the spotlight. So, there was that.

>Green goblin disguised as Hobgoblin
There's something extremely retarded about it but I can't qukte put into words.
>>93884208
This Spidey is quite "superior" huh, fucking up 7 times in a row now.
Are superiorfags just contrarians after all?
>>93884968
She waa fucking the Hobgoblin.
>>93884491
Spider-Man 2099 also appeared in Goblin Nation.
>>93883639
I hope it ends with the 2099 universe being reestablished. I miss it.
