Since last night there was a long discussion on the subject let's have a storytime! Because it's just business to storytime this Saga.
Yes, Pete letting one criminal go in the wild sure as hell won't bite you back in the ass.
Aunt Anna. Huh I wonder what happened to her? Last time I saw her was in early 00s.
> Sometimes I think Norman Osborn might haunt me for the rest of my life.
You ain't kidding Pete.
> the man was a monster before he even put on the suit.
Damn.
Funny how once Norman got in power or became "serum" free. He let others use his Goblin tech. I'm surprised Kingsley never did this as well.
Such a killer first appearance.
Best Goblin storytime
It surprises me re-reading this now. Just how well Stern laid so many clues as to the identity of the Hobgoblin in the first issue.
I still can't see Ned Leeds ever as the original. Even re-reading it back then when he was the "official" identity back in the early 90s. It just didn't make sense. No matter how much Christoper Priest tried to spin it.
But that's the fun thing about this Saga. Sure the original portion is entertaining. But the behind the scenes stuff going on with this book at the time was even more fun.
Pity there will never been a tell-all book about the shit Stern, DeFalco, Priest, and probably Shooter did to one another.
> this subplot teased here would eventually somehow go on for ten years leading to Hobgoblin Lives.
> we will never have this tight of continuity ever again.
Poor Lance.
Lewd.

>Just how well Stern laid so many clues as to the identity of the Hobgoblin in the first issue.
Despite being one of the things people see as a 'clue' in retrospect, Hobgoblin redesigning the Green Goblin costume wasn't 'intended' as a clue pointing to Kingsley.
Stern admitted he didn't decide who it was going to be until he was scripting dialogue for the issue. The costume change was already there as a necessary element of the plot creating a new Goblin to replace the Green Goblin.
Actually I was thinking about the cover with the Spider suit. A Spider-Man suit was involved in the last prior appearance of Kingsley involving some shennigans).
The other was well, can you really see Lance or Ned doing any of this in the first issue? They don't fit the type to do away with Georgie. No matter how many red herrings we had throughout this.Which is why it made more sense that this could have been Richard Fisk as DeFalco intended.
Oh Pete you dick.
Was this a good or bad plot twist?
>>93798889
Depends on who you prefer.
Ouch on what happened to Lefty. Still, the Hobgoblin has "fashionable" taste in jackets there.
> this place was so not in a reporter/photographer's budget.
Betty you criminal mastermind!
Glad they corrected the coloring errors in the new edition of this.
>>93797398
Poor Jack Kirby.
OUCH.
Now I'm taking a twenty-five minute break. I'll be back. Here's the cover to the next issue to pass the time.
>>93798939
>'Lefty' Donovan
Was he named for his politics?
>>93797701
>>93797712
But without Normans super strength and healing, how could he hope to stand a chance against Spider-Man?
>>93800001
There never was healing until the mid-90s with the Goblin serum. Super Strength on the other hand well...
And a fetish is born!Stupid sexy Kingsley.
>>93797653
why do i always forget the finger lasers
Oh Pete if only you believed in harem. There be no more troubles.
Harem.
>>93800343
>Gets super-powers
>Wants to test powers
>Immediately goes to find Spider-Man and fight him.
Why do people think "Hobgoblin doesn't even care about Spider-Man" is how it should work?
>>93800582
Well do you want to test your newfound powers on the Punisher? Daredevil?
Or maybe the Spider-fella who isn't as whacked out like they are?
Gentlemen BEHOLD--- 80s letter pages!!!
When you want some one-on-one and then someone wants to make it a threesome.
>>93800656
You could just test your strength in mundane, real-world ways by lifting heavy things?
It just says a lot about him that his first idea to test his powers is "fight Spider-Man".
Downward spiral into obsessive hatred Hobgoblin is a villain you could do more with than "I don't even care about you at all, even though I spent all night searching for you so we could fight."
Someone's thirsty for some Parker.
>>93800786
A pity that Flash is no longer Venom. I could see him going down a downward spiral easier if Flash targeted him when he had the symbiote. Pity we never saw it.
>>93798055
it's amazing how poorly pete eats with a body like that
> The Hobgoblin upgrades Goblin weaponry too.
Oh crap!
> Hobgoblin promotes piracy.
> dat classic Hobgoblin smirk.
>>93800838
jesus christ parker what's whit them cut offs
But is it really?
Someone's happy.
>>93801608
It's unbelievable the amount of times they pulled this shit.
>the Hobgoblin is unmasked but NOT REALLY
Uh oh.
It is a fitting finale though.
And enter the Secret Wars!
>>93797456
Spidey is kinda a psycho sometimes.
Hmm part of me wonders if I should stop for now? Nah! One more tale.
>>93799109
Betcha that's hired Joe Schmoe
Oh did I mention this one begins a certain other fellow who enters the Saga?
>>93797398
Uncle Who?
>>93800326
Whoa, sudden childhood flashback. I remember reading this at my cousins'.
> dat coat.
Hey, it's Jack O'Lantern folks!
I have the sudden urge to buy some G.I. Joes.
And that's it! For now.
>>93801573
So he just walks away from this- and eventually becomes mayor of NYC, dspite the deaths the Scorpion caused.
I guess it's no worse than the time Thor hooked up with the Circus of Crime, got busted, bailed out by Loki and never, ever spoke of it again.
Nah, it is worse.
>>93802213
Goddangit OP, I wanted to go to bed hours ago!Thank you
>>93803067
Oh please. I could do more! I could.. I might. But I need a rest.
>>93802849
To be fair he was the only candidate left after the guy who became mayor had his daughter unmasked as another Goblin live on national TV.
>>93802339
Shouldn't you be busy sucking Mr. Stark's cock?
>>93803193
Not for my part...although I suppose I can read up on it tomorrow.
>>93802670
>my pogo platform
what a dork
>>93797834
How did Harry shrink his own face?
>>93804656
Goblin serum.
>>93797422
What the hell is an egg cream?
>>93805505
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egg_cream
>An egg cream is a beverage consisting of milk, carbonated water, and chocolate syrup. The drink contains neither eggs nor cream.
It's fucking lies is what it is.
>>93805505
It's a delicious jew beverage.
The Stern omni has most of this, btw.
>>93797369
Oh boy, a story time about an underrated villain.
>>93805581
>called egg cream
>contains neither eggs nor cream
Let's continue onward to Hobgoblin vs. Harry shall we?
Puma is so under-rated.
And now we reach the point on WHY I storytimed this issue.
Oh yeah. It's THAT issue too.
The best relationship.
Where does the Rose find these henchmen?
Alright. The moment you all have been waiting for.

>>93800277
>>93800001
they later make mention of Ol Roddy boy gaining the goblin formula, and modifying it so it doesn't fuck with your brain pan as much, showing how smart the old silver fox bastard was.
>>93802849
Well it did also happen at a time when Norman Osborn got to turn SHIELD into HAMMER
>>93800786
>>93800582
Cause if he cares too much about Spider-Man then he ends up being like Osborn or something.
>>93798285
Man, yeah,Richie Fisk woulda been a great reveal, based defalco. I'm still more than happy with Kingsly though. When did that swhoel thing get added and made part of the character?
Thanks, OP.
>>93808900
When did what get added?
>>93808869
At the time, Norman was supposed to be dead, so that didn't matter.
Is the rest of the story time coming tomorrow, OP?
>>93800838
Dude, it's painful. Agent Venom and his old flame black cat would be sweet. The fact that the jock in him would want to be cavalier and protect her, but the soldier in him would wanna let her help. Fuc the dynamic is great.
>>93810300
NEW THREAD HERE, DUDE: >>93808472
>>93811646
Cool.
bumping for others
Wasn't this originally supposed to end COMPLETELY differently?
>>93808416
>>93808425
this is fucking hilarious
>>93807900
>see the shittiest thing that has ever happened for details!
Fuck you, Jim.
>>93811646
Thanks, Anon.
>>93819441
Secret Wars wasn't even bad.
